  2. Chief meteorologist Marshall McPeek of WSYX opened his address to the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association conference in Palm Springs this weekend by welcoming "ladies, gentlemen, things and its". He wound up apologizing before the evening ended and resigning from the association. WSYX's general manager even had to come out and make a statement, in addition to one from the NLGJA.

  7. Wasn't WNYW supposed to be getting a new noon newscast this fall as part of the news expansion at Fox Television stations?

  8. And yet they (CNN) still run the promos constantly saying they're the "Most Trusted Name in News..." They actually think people believe that? I get the whole money revenue aspect here, but come on. You can't possibly think a majority people buy into that in this day and age. Everyone is guilty of bias, not passing the buck on any cable channel here, but it is very idiotic to see CNN still running these spots and then going on entertainment coverage 24 hours a day. Even on their daytime blocks which are supposed to be filled with news affecting this country, the times that I tune into CNN or MSNBC, it is always Brooke Baldwin blabbing about something to do with politics or breaking down and crying over a mean word someone said. FOX is not perfect either, yes they have their biases totally as well during daytime news blocks, but I see much more emphasis on news during their midday blocks. Evenings, forget about it for any channel, that is the time for the opinions to shine... let them have that time to speak their mind. Have at it, attack on another with clearly marked opinion commentary. Maybe throw in a news break here in there like FNC does (in all fairness I am not sure if CNN or MSNBC or any other cable channel does that news break, but please let me know if they do.) In the daytime when news should be superior, it is not for CNN from what I have seen. You continuously blast the other side pretty much 24 hours a day for the past 3 years, then get a 180 character "Tweet" and flip out wondering why you are always the target? You don't have to agree with the other side, that is fine. But constantly attacking, trying to de-legitimize people, and literally creating fake news is not gonna get you praise. Yelling pointless questions up a 2 story building during a potentially tense meeting/negotiations between a hostile country isn't helping your point. Having a fit on television isn't getting your point.... just laughing stock of the internet maybe. Who knows, maybe people will actually change your opinion of you if you change your ways... oh wait you've already fell off the cliff too long ago... I used to want to work in the media, and a certain person might remember that here. How my eyes have opened up to this sad state of television. There are many other factors why I have also changed my mind, don't get me wrong, but this has got to be a big part.

  9. Sinclair must have gotten some inspiration from that sign to mess up their own spelling. How ironic.

  10. The concerns of an anonymous idiot who has been known only as "Sources Say" for 35 years and seems to have a regular feature about "Live! Panic!" in the National Enquirer has little to no say in the matter. Ratings are good and stations across the Big Four network aren't dumping the show, and they only dump it because another station offered more money to air it.. The show has vanquished tens of copycat shows in a way most companies can only dream of. The only time they could have cancelled or took it network-exclusive passed the moment Disney purchased ABC and decided to keep Buena VIsta as an outside syndicator.

  14. (cross-post from Out & About...) Latest local ratings report after WFAA's first GMA Day airing, and midday news move to 11am: http://www.unclebarky.com/dfw_files/f2b5f10d183240fce6f2b0bcb2e69c52-4270.html WFAA's GMA Day airing was 3rd in its slot, while their midday news at 11am was 4th in that slot.

  15. Canceling LIVE would mean ABC forcing WABC-TV to end a profitable local production and/or Disney telling their distribution arm to stop making money by syndicating it to dozens of non-ABC station group affiliates and then telling all of those local stations to give their lucrative 9am local hour back to the network in exchange for a midday hour or a lot of money. Oh, and the high ratings and profits that are generated from LIVE would probably have to nosedive first. So.. yeah, Sam Rubin and “the insiders” can keep speculating...

  16. Am I reading this right? WOIO is adding a 7:30pm show? Well Jeopardy! is about to get the shaft. Scripps should have NEVER cheaped out on these shows.....

  17. Why hasn't CNN retracted or corrected the 100000% fake story. Everybody else retracted the false story. Who is CNN pretending to protect? Not the "source" Mr. Davis. Are they protecting the reputation of Carl Bernstein (google him kids) or are they just dead-set on poisoning the CNN brand forever? Why do the owners allow this to continue. It's not like it's making any money. Is the DNC ready to jump in and support CNN through the next few years? This is painful to watch.

  18. So far, no one (KXAS, WFAA, KTVT) has announced any plans to expand their morning shows to 4am; they all seem content for now, starting at 4:30am. I know why, but IMO, a 6-hour morning show is just overkill, really.
