  1. One would think a former lawyer, of all people, would be able to clearly articulate a point (whatever it may be).

  2. I think people may be reading too much into this. Gayle and Norah (on the surface) appear to be the main anchors with John and now Bianna having the title of 'co-anchor' in name only. I could be wrong, but that's how I view things on CTM. Given Bianna's background, it's a plus to have someone cover/discuss financial news, etc..., which is severely lacking on the big 3 morning shows.

  3. Please, get it out of your head. CBS will not outsource a news operation at one of it’s largest O&O stations in the 4th largest television market. CBS is not going to make a deal with ABC or NBC for WPVI or WCAU (two market leaders/network O&Os) to produce a newscast for a CBS affiliate, especially one owned by the network. No. No one is denying that KYW’s news department is a dumpster fire and changes ought to be made. But your definition of a change is “outsource” or “shutter the news department.” The only CBS O&O which doesn’t have a news department is KYW’s sister station in Detroit, which is one of CBS’ moneymakers in that it costs pennies to run and that CBS can run it as a passthrough without spending money on a serious news department. CBS is not going to shut down or outsource a long-standing news department — and to an extent, a Philly institution, simply because the product is crap.

  4. I agree. They were way better in the late 90's. I don't care to watch these days and I wish Sandra Maas was somewhere else, not there. I can't even bring myself to watch Carlos in the morning though I loved him on KTLA. I still watch them in the morning.

  5. Her point is not offensive in my opinion. She definitely could have and should have worded it more eloquently but all that’s needed is a little context to understand she wasn’t being offensive.

  10. Been awhile since I posted the maximum 5 videos onto here! At last, we know where WJKS's 70's theme came from, in a ABC Evening News promo! And also in here is an NBC jingle which I think hasn't seen the light of day in over 45 years!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=pMIgmNUwlTw;t=29 WANE's version of the NewsChannel campaign: Two closes from two consequitve KNXV 6pm newscasts, just before they became ABC: And the opening to WIVB's News 4 Update from May 25, 1989:

  12. It's not DOJ. The problem was the FCC held up the last piece of the deal, the sale of KFNB/KFNE to Legacy. The FCC wanted the two stations to be independent operations, instead of KFNE being a satellite of KFNB. Legacy has argued there is no way KFNE can operate as a standalone operation, especially since it's Riverton signal doesn't reach the majority of the market population in Casper. Yes, Gray lost the chance to control all the stations in the market, but they'll probably still end up with CBS on their LD in Casper. I'm sure Mark Nalbone isn't happy about losing his $25 million payday.

  19. After 33 years at Portland's KGW 8 (NBC), Tracey Barry is calling it a career. As of next week, Barry who's been with Portland's NBC affiliate since 1985 will officially retire from KGW 8 News next week. She announced on her Facebook post that her final newscast 5, 6, and 6:30 is Next Friday (10/12).

  20. WCMH commercial break, 1996. Promos for News 4 at 11 and a station ID are included. I used to really like the version of the NBC chimes used in the station ID, and I think, at one point or another in the late 1990s all NBC stations used them in some form
