  1. From btm0815ma: an edition of the CBS News Morning show from 1979, not long after the flagship Sunday Morning debuted (this edition was Tuesday Morning, and was from Tuesday, April 17, 1979 [back in 1979, there wasn't just Sunday Morning w/Charles Kuralt, but also Monday Morning, Tuesday Morning, Wednesday Morning, et al. w/Bob Schieffer; all those were anchored far differently to the Kuralt Sunday show, in that they were more about the news of the day, and less features]). Also attached are some title shots from that broadcast, from different shots of the set.

  3. Here’s another sneak preview. Straight across the studio from the main desk on the left is the annex into the ABC Live set

  4. Still more from btm0815ma, including some 1981 newscasts that introduced a few variations of intros from the early Dan Rather era and the entire 1988 CBS Evening News that included the Dan Rather vs. George H W Bush showdown

  5. Was WESH that cheap in 1986 to where they weren't able to get the "Come Home" package from their own network and instead made their own "Come Home" graphics in-house? I thought those things were free for them. I would expect this in a small market affiliate, not in a mid-sized one like Orlando was at the time.

  6. They aren't breaking up Joe & Sandra. Works perfectly for me.

  7. This was 100% Robs choice if not why would they have him working until April?? My question is do they take this as a time to make a few moves or do they just replace Rob? Obviously Mike will play a roll somewhere.. it would be cool to see Joe and Michelle reunite.. they worked very well together and place Mike with Sandra?

  8. Wow. I enjoyed watching Christine when I lived in Charlotte as she and John Carter made a great team. Looking forward to seeing her on FOX 5!

  9. The newscast that Mike will likely take over was already extremely popular and dominant with Rob as anchor so I’m not sure that’s it either.

  10. Hell WABC has 3 reporters with 30+ years at the station (Burkett, Dolan, Fleischer), 12 at 20+ (Ritter, Del Giorno, Goldberg, Evans, Bookman, Charlesworth, Torres, Solis, Sager, Yang, Glassberg and Pineda), 13 at 10+ (Einiger, Kenyon, Cho, Baderinwa, Johnson, Novarro (two pieces separated by a stint in CHI, Champion (two stints separated by GMA & TWC), Rosato, Sohn, Yates, Richardson, Smith, Miles). The rest are at 9 or less. WABC doesn't have this attitude or turnover.

  12. That is purely speculative. When the man says he's leaving on this own terms, why can't we take him at his word?

  13. There's a lot to take in in 90 seconds: a totally new KGMB open and theme from a newscast when KGMB made the news for a 22-minute power failure...during the Super Bowl! This can't have lasted long. In 1986, KGMB rebranded its news as KGMB 9 News after the retirement of longtime anchor Bob Sevey—the "Walter Cronkite of Hawai'i"—but by late 1987, they had changed their logo to the sailboat 9. Oh, and before Joe Shortsleeve was in Boston...he was anchoring eyeWITNess News, as this rare WITN newscast from December 1980 shows!

  16. BTM0815MA has been on a tear when it comes to rare news uploads. This leads me to most of a **RARE** WITN newscast from December 31st, 1980. And if you are a Weather Channel viewer, you may recognize this former OCM (on-camera meteorologist).

  17. Here's something interesting and fun to watch. The full-length episode of CBS News Up to the Minute. No, not the overnight newscast that came (a) after CBS News Nightwatch and (b) before CBS Overnight News. Not the Up to the Minute you're thinking of. This was the 1981 SHOW, Monday thru Friday afternoons, where it was hosted by the same men who brought us 60 Minutes (Mike Wallace, Ed Bradley, Morley Safer and Harry Reasoner). It was a weekday afternoon news program - an early fringe deal - that came on after the CBS soaps and before the early news at like 5:00pm. PLUS, there's theme music to the show. Seeing that Up to the Minute was hosted by the 60 Minutes anchormen, the music was MUCH different from the stopwatch sound effect we're used to hearing on 60 Minutes every Sunday.

  18. The whole entire KTUL News 8 1985 theme!!!! You won't hear bits of it, like you do on SouthernMedia NMSA Cue to the 4:02 mark to hear the FULL-LENGTH version. THE WHOLE ENCHILADA!

  19. Part 26,626 of "does the theme song matter?" A remix was played as part of warm-ups to the Flyers/Blue Jackets game on Tuesday, 2/18... It was noticed on Twitter and more. Other coverage: https://www.inquirer.com/flyers/flyers-6abc-action-news-theme-song-jim-gardner-move-closer-to-your-world-20200219.html I guess that is one way to get some free coverage outside the sports block...

  20. Things like this are what make the KTLA Morning News so popular. They keep it real. I may have an issue if it was on the 6pm or 10pm news, but I see no problem here. Southern California baseball fans are upset. Today, GMA, CBSTM...would this be OK? No. We are going to be bitter about this for quite sometime...

  22. That ain’t a knock-off. It’s the real deal from the FTS Graphics Hub. Also not the first time they’ve helped out a non-O&O either. Though what they did have before was definitely serviceable for that market.

  23. Yeah Bank Gothic was like one of the hottest fonts at the end of the 90's. No knockoff there.

  25. Its amazing that nothing can happen to you over your career (i.e. various things like buyouts, layoffs, firings, etc.) and yet, its something health-related that can take you off for good. But its true sadly and here in this case, its the vocal chords that'll take Gayle Guyardo off-the-air for good. February 28th is her last day at WFLA/WTTA after working there for 26 and a half years. https://www.wfla.com/8-on-your-side/news-channel-8s-gayle-guyardo-leaves-morning-news-to-rehab-her-vocal-chords/
