  2. WKYC has turned What Matters Most from a newscast name into an overall station slogan. The 6pm news tonight was identified as "3News at 6" instead of What Matters Most.

  3. "Welcome to our great new weather channel! We proudly present to you 6 live hours of programming on weekday mornings, 4 live hours of programming on weekday afternoons, and 6 live hours of programming on weekend mornings! Any other time you tune in, we'll be happy to present either long form programming or an automated loop that doesn't present a whole lot of actual weather information!" I've noticed that TWC blew Fox Weather out of the water in terms of live hours of programming during this past week's winter storm. TWC was live until 1 AM ET each night, while Fox Weather was calling it quits around 9 or 10 pm ET every night. Ever since the December 10-11 tornado outbreak where Fox Weather went all in on the overnight coverage, it's all been downhill from there with a constant reduction in live programming hours every couple of weeks since then. It feels like they didn't like the (presumably low) amount of viewership they got from that overnight coverage, and some exec said, "You know what, we're done with all this live programming. We're only going to be live during peek hours, and those are the only timeslots where it's valuable to be live." In other words, the same logic TWC execs used on their current programming strategy, but somehow even WORSE. If they continue down this path, there's no bright future ahead for Fox Weather.

  4. Don't know if this is a permanent change; but noticed that CBS2 News Saturday Morning aired this morning from 9-11AM; as opposed to 6-7AM and 9-10AM. It appears to be permanent in the guides.

  5. Longtime WTSP chief meteorologist Dick Fletcher reads a promo in 1984 for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon followed by a "Storm Seeker" Radar promo. Lots of Tampa Bay clips on this channel (See them before they get pulled!): A WTSP promo from 1983: WTVT promo from 1994 promoting the switch from CBS to Fox: Roy Leep from 1984: John WIlson in 1984:

  7. Apollo is unlikely to be much better. I've heard the Cox stations are miserable and ran quite literally as cheap as possible. If Apollo can get rid of you, they will. Tegna employees are the real victims here.

  8. They would be run as separate companies. Otherwise it will never get past the FCC. As it is stated, Apollo will not have any voting rights. They are acting like a bank. If and that's a big if, ownership caps go up, then the two companies may merge down in the future.

  9. Basically Nester runs PIX11. From management to all programming and station operations. Mission is a sham for Nester to get around ownership caps. Until the FCC or Congress decides to do something about this, they will be permitted to exist.

  10. It seems there should be some separation between Mission and Nexstar carriage agreements. Sinclair tying deals to their sidecars necessitated separate deals that were entered into with each station owner group. Because this ties into programming, that is the legal tie to the licensee on how the station is being "programmed". Hopefully, these carriage deals with Altice/Optimum/Suddenlink are either a coincidence or grandfathered into a prior arrangement, and not some form of collusion between Nexstar and it's sidecars. There have been separate disputes where Nexstar got dropped and Mission stayed on a provider, and vice versa.

  11. Mission is such a sham. Everything about the station is Deathstar except the ownership papers on file. I assume their “agreement “ with Mission includes retransmission rights. The notice is at the top of the website. Yet it’s still on the air

  12. About time. Interesting that it has a different "look" than the NFL package - Fox might be hopping on the different looks for different sports train. 13. I guess Micah Ohlman can only work so many shifts. He's been a main anchor at KTLA for a dozen years. In a while he'll almost be in position to approach Hal Fishman status.
