It's still Eyewitness News on air... for now.2 points

This is a bit old, but Westword wrote again about KDVR/KWGN departures. They basically transcribed some brief podcasts a reporter did last November describing her brief five years in TV news. She added a July 2022 update about waiting tables in Winter Park (she now works in marketing for the resort). "Devastating takedown" is not how I would describe it. Some people can handle the life and some people can't. https://www.westword.com/news/ex-fox31-reporter-aimee-lewiss-devastating-takedown-of-tv-news-147920072 points

Despite the O&O's using Dateline as a replacement for Ellen, it looks like Dateline will still be part of the MNT primetime lineup, but not the same episodes fed for local syndication. Dateline is still listed on WWOR primetime after 9/12.1 point

They are now running a 24/7 Wheel of Fortune streaming channel on Pluto TV, so you'd think they'd now allow a second repeat airing of the show in syndication for stations that would be interested.1 point

Technically the first EWN station was what is now WKYC and they dropped it in 1965 when the FCC ordered the asset swap reversal between NBC and Westinghouse. I know common interpretation has KYW “moving” back to Philadelphia but that was borne out of Westinghouse wanting to erase any connection to NBC ownership of 3 and 1060 as soon as possible. By stark contrast, NBC tried to play off the “KY” name with WKYC and acknowledged Westinghouse’s prior ownership in Cleveland.1 point

The Clemson-ND game gave me a taste of that XFL game in 01 (cant remember the teams, just remember how it delayed SNL). Lorne is going have to get used to it with CFB.1 point

In the Tallahassee market WTXL used to be "First Alert" and WCTV used to be "Pinpoint Weather". WTXL dropped "First Alert" because WCTV (owned by Gray) wanted to use it. Now WTXL is "First To Know Weather" and WCTV now uses "First Alert".1 point

At least they'll have one original newscast on WLNY (somewhat) now that the news at 9 has gone to the network; In my opinion this is what should have been airing in place of "Live from the Couch" when that first debuted.1 point

The 4pm has been running since last Thursday from the State Fair (big deal up here!). Tuesday should originate from the studio. To make the case for CCO possibly not being the first, the stations are so preoccupied with their State Fair studios I wonder how much time they have to work on anything else over the 12 day run?1 point

At least there's not a newscast titled "What Sucks."1 point

Sara Shookman is on maternity leave. The station even covered the birth of her second child. I don’t think anyone’s getting pushed out here. Also, I don’t like WKYC’s format either, but it’s not like Dave Lougee and Tegna issued an edict that WKYC must change their newscasts. While Tegna management certainly encouraged this stuff, these moves were made entirely by local management.1 point

Didn't know where else to put this, but while browsing through some Detroit Now News clips (just for the hell of it), it appears that the local segments are now being done in-house instead of being outsourced from KTVT. Shaina Humphries (as seen in the screenshot) was one of the recent hires for the upcoming CBS News Detroit.1 point

Why can't it just be 3 News at 5:00, just like its 6pm news?1 point

And...speaking of TV Passport, this is what I found for KTXH's broadcast of Pictionary in two weeks at 4pm (one run, followed by Family Feud at 4:30pm): "Allan Thicke hosts America's favorite board game." Yes, there was a Pictionary game show that did air in 1997. Aired at 12:30 p.m. on KPRC, and then as it struggled became one of the many shows that KPRC chose to air in the late night hours AFTER a bunch of Trash TV talk shows + their 10 p.m. news on repeat before airing Conan O'Brien at 2am. Alan Thicke is sadly no longer with us, and there's no - dare I say - "Blurred Lines" about that. It was also distributed by the former syndication arm of ABC that evolved into Worldvision, now one of many companies absorbed into the CMV fold (save for the Hanna-Barbera cartoons that ended up in Ted Turner's possession) courtesy of Aaron Spelling, Blockbuster Video (no surprise since Spelling was originally from Dallas and so was Blockbuster) and eventually Viacom and Paramount. CMV, as we all know, is also distributing the new Pictionary with Jerry O'Connell. Yes, we all know Youngstown is quite a slow-paced community. Never mind the on again, off again issues with Lordstown and other big news stories surrounding the deindustrialization and its tragic effects, though it wouldn't surprise me if being family-owned by a now-sold daily newspaper in the same market may have played a hand in them waiting this long, seeing that there's really only two TV news sources in town now. Pretty sure they're on the sale block in the near future...1 point

When it comes to CBS affiliates beyond the 14 O&O markets, the number of markets (excluding same-market satellites) owned or controlled by company: Gray - 55 Nexstar - 43 Sinclair - 23 Tegna - 15 Scripps - 11 Allen - 5 NP&G - 5 Morgan Murphy - 4 Others - 35 (none with more than three each) Can they really blackmail them that much?0 points

The changes in the fall lineup on the Pittsburgh stations can be found here. WPXI is replacing Judge Judy with some show called Ring Nation hosted by Wanda Sykes at 3 and another run of Jeopardy at 3:30 as a lead-in to their 4pm news. Some of the other changes have already been addressed here, but the full list can be found in the link.0 points

Last I checked, CBS has Paramount+ and NBC has Peacock (free if you have an Xfinity cable subscription). Fox and ABC share Hulu, but that's about it. Maybe if my scenario where Disney swallows up Fox and Hearst gets ABC with a little drug money from Warren Buffett comes true, Fox will have their dream stream, and Big Ten fans can rejoice.0 points

RIP Eyewitness News (even CBS3 Eyewitness News) - the format which the founding station KYW gave birth to.0 points

WANF will be in the 3RD place maybe I don't see the name change getting them out in last place in my opinion.0 points

Just noticed that KSL in Salt Lake City, who delayed Days to 1:05 am, isn’t clearing NBC News Daily at all. They are replacing Hot Bench with Drew Barrymore in full, moving up Top Story an hour and putting a Dr. Phil encore after Top Story. https://ksltv.com/ksl-tv-program-guide/0 points
