The show is so dry it might as well be Early Today. That's fine at 3:30am in the morning when you have no expectations, but not as a mid-day program. I'm all for a basic news rundown show but I didn't need it to be this basic and unchanged from the streaming feed where you can just see the affiliates watching and being like 'you know what? We agree Irma, give us Days back!' and seeing people flip over to a more dynamic GMA3.4 points

One thing regarding anchors... To an NBC News Viewer - they should all be recognizable. Vicky Nguyen is on the Today Show as the consumer correspondent. Morgan Radford is a veteran correspondent and occasional guest co-host on weekend-today. Aaron Gilchrist is the newest to the NBC family, while Kate Snow is another veteran who anchored on MSNBC daily in the past and now is on Weekend Nightly News. While i have not see Aaron and Kate together, i will say that I don't think Vicky and Morgan have any chemistry. It would almost be better if they moved Philip Mena off Early today and paired him with Morgan or even made Steven Romo an anchor and paired him with one of them. Vicky and Morgan are great, but just not a good pair. Another idea would be to pair Morgan with Jose Diaz Balart. The issue there would be location as Jose is based in Miami. Then MSNBC can re-align its daytime line-up and perhaps include Vicky Nguyen there? Or Swap Vicky with Morgan and have Morgan anchor an hour of MSNBC Reports...3 points

NBC News Daily has the look and feel of an early morning headline newscast like America This Morning, Early Today or the CBS Morning News.3 points

WAGA if Fox didn’t make them adopt the mandate they would’ve keep Eyewitness News. I’m some renanas they still kinda act like it sometimes. I wish FOX would give them permission to bring it back. Since they’ve de-emphasize the Boxkite look.2 points

Honestly, it’ll likely be longer than that. There are clearly things they’re trying to iron out behind the scenes. Maybe we’ll see them when CBS Detroit launches? There’s still no date for that, although they’d be stupid not to launch before the midterm elections. If my posts on KCNC are cluttering the thread, I will happily hide them. My apologies.2 points

Ladies and germs, might I suggest we not do play-by-play of our local stations, checking in to say that nothing has changed? All signs, at this time, are pointing to a package launch closer to, if not during or even after November. From now on, let us know when you see something legitimately new. Otherwise, we might just have to locked up this thread, for a bit.2 points

They didn't air very much of the News Daily and I watched the whole block. Maybe KTAL went way over on the local cut ins or something.2 points

Not surprised about that given KPRC has essentially become KNBC East (since it is a port city unlike where KXAS is and has ex-KNBC personalities Daniela Guzman and Anthony Yanez on staff), and any day now I expect Graham to cash out, with NBC very likely to scoop up the station and create a duopoly with KTMD, even with the new KPRC+ which could very well be a test case for a potential future independent subchannel with second runs of syndicated shows, additional newscasts, filler and live high school sports (including the very popular Texas tradition of - wait for it - high school volleyball on Tuesday nights...). Also, just for the record, while I am definitely not a soap fan by any stretch of the imagination, the Days of Our Lives finale - set in a mausoleum scene - did not have a dramatic outro. That furthers my suspicion that NBC's earnest efforts to compete with ABC for the afternoon news ratings may be a tad bit underwhelming. Wouldn't be shocked if eventually NBC fills a game show, like Password which has done well in primetime this summer or - prayerfully - a return of Concentration or Sale of the Century, with the latter perhaps as reparations for much of the Jim Perry run in the 80s supposedly being lost, either in the old DOOL slot or maybe in between OG Today and Hoda & Jenna. But if any game show from NBC's past deserves to be brought from the dead, it should be Scrabble!2 points

So small follow-up. Last month, two permits were approved (Alexandria & Vernal). Today (9/13), the sixteen remaining permits were granted.1 point

KIMA/KEPR-DT2 (CW+) will air The Good Doctor, Sat at 7pm KAPP will air 9-1-1 and The Rookie reruns on weekend evenings. KNDO will air Magnum P.I. (2 episodes) at 2:30AM early Sunday morning, and another repeat following Sunday Night Football. iCrime not cleared here. In a HUGE change in Seattle...KIRO-7 says bye bye to Judge Judy after over *20* years, and has started airing a 4:00 newscast (joining the other Big 4 stations). In addition, The List airs at 3PM, and a new show called Afternoon Focus airs at 3:30. Entertainment Tonight and The List are the only weekday syndicated shows left on KIRO. Where did her reruns go? That’s weird; I thought the show went out of production not long ago (unless WGN had a deal with the syndicator for another show and that fell through and the syndicator decided to give them this instead)…. On a related note, being that WGN has Friends at 3p and the station serves as the Chicago home of Antenna TV and Rewind TV, I wonder why the station didn’t lease any sitcoms from those networks to fill the 2p slot. I’d have gone with either Three’s Company or the Jeffersons to pair with Friends on the WGN schedule. Granted, these sitcoms may not draw a lot of viewers, but still, WGN’s move with Paternity Court reruns at 2p is a head-scratcher, I think….1 point

Loving the old nighty set they are using. Also the anchor lineups are great. It's also nice having Steven Romo and Morgan Chesky filling in on Morning News Now this morning. Hopefully it happens more often!1 point

I agree the background is a lot to take in. I do 'hope' that they offer viewers something different as time goes on because a rehash of news/topics that have already been covered hours before is a waste. 'Dateline in the Daytime' feels like a placeholder (or should be). It will be interesting to see what they come up with for that hour.1 point
-
That video background has a little too much depth, too much going on. Again it's just more of the same: Trump, inflation, COVID and now the Queen. In this era of news saturation, it's every station clamoring to cover the same thing rather than aiming for some streak of uniqueness. I can't act like Days of Our Lives was in the best condition before it got taken off the air, but it will be missed. I wonder how long Dateline at 1 PM will last.1 point

I suppose, like the poor bedraggled guys in Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" who finally realized Godot was never showing up and headed home, we might as well get back on the road.. Too many canaries in the coalmine squawking too many different tunes. Not that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. Not many people care about such things. After all, think of all the viewers who would never even notice a difference in graphics,1 point

"Fall" could even be as late as the first of December. It might be a very soft opening, after the November book is done, though I guess that means little or nothing now. No doubt it won't happen until KCAL's new set is ready, and that might be a while away. KCBS's current set took three months to build in 2016.1 point

KTAL has apparently launched something similar to what the CBS O&Os are doing on their CW partners. It's some sort of 1pm Newscast. Idk if this is permanent or what. Brittany Defran is the anchor.1 point

You would've thought they'd zero down on FF considering their new ownership.1 point

So, looking at WHBQ's schedule as of today, the following changes have been made: - Sherri Shephard at 10AM - DISH Nation at 11:30AM - Family Feud at Noon (replacing The Real) in addition to 4PM - Divorce Court at 2:00PM (replacing Judge Jerry) Don't know why they decided to double down (or quadruple down, in this case) on Family Feud, tbh.1 point

Despite changes at WSB-TV it still number 1 with still 50% share of the audience. They have 5 anchors for their main afternoon/evening newscast and that big! WSB ship isn't sunk just yet and WAGA has been chasing WSB-TV for years. There a few times WAGA has passed them, but as always WSB-TV rebounds. 46 will pass 11 up no doubt, but 46 needs stability! It can't be the revolving door it has been for the last two decades. WSB-TV been Action News for 50 years or close to it. WXIA has been 11Alive for 4+ decades WGCL/WANF still has their work cut out for them.1 point

Update: the “CBS Colorado Mornings” branding is being used for the 9am newscast.1 point

If I remember correctly and if I'm wrong please feel free to back me up but for the last couple of years usually when KCNC does a graphics change they've been doing it starting with the noon newscast. In this case. it's possible that maybe something was supposed to happen this morning and there was a hold up of some sort. That's just my guess.1 point

I hope they do a better job with the KCAL set than they did with the KCBS one. Newscasts on the KCBS set are distracting. The video wall behind the anchors reflects the monitors in front of them; when an anchor or reporter is doing a standup next to a monitor, you can see the teleprompter in the reflection; and you can always see the weather anchor messing around on the computer depending on the shot. It’s market 2, not a college newscast. It’s annoying and I hate watching cbsla from the KCBS set.1 point

Or, more likely, there was just no other program inventory they were interested in buying to fill out the 3pm hour. I can’t imagine those shows are all that expensive, and they’ll work as lead-ins to their new 4pm newscast.1 point
-
wow that is a stark contrast between WFTV and WSOC. WFTV has three daily runs of Family Feud on an ABC affiliate! Thats a CW tier lineup! Meanwhile at WSOC it's strange to see Kelly and Ryan Wendy Williams on the same station. Aside from a few exceptions I always picture Wendy as a Fox/CW/MNT talk show. Overall, SOC has a solid lineup.1 point

I noticed that starting next week WDCA's 9PM newscast is moving to 8:30. So between Fox and DC News Now there's news on anytime between 4PM and Midnight.0 points

Sounds like A&E was looking to revive Live PD before Reelz launched the new show. As for NewsNation, I read that Elizabeth Vargas is filling-in for a week on the channel, but I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up with a regular gig on the network.0 points

Now, all four of Cleveland's news stations are doing newscasts at 4PM. With WOIO on at 3pm, I wouldn't be surprised if more stations start at 3 as well.0 points

You literally took the words right out of my mouth. The program looks and feels like an early morning national newscast. Random unknown anchors that differ based on time zone, and cheap lower thirds. To it's credit the program does look better aesthetically and graphics wise than GMA 3. It was very poetic that the final scene of Days of our Lives was interrupted by a special report, lol. What a lackluster finale that was for Days. No speech at the beginning of the episode thanking fans for the years of watching, or trying to usher them to Peacock. Just business as usual with no grand finale or excitement. As much as we hate on these replacement daytime shows, soaps have not been doing much to help themselves in the past few years.0 points

Where's Kate snow? I thought she was anchoring. Nvrmnd. I see it's mainly the west coast affiliates. We east coasters get these two randos instead.0 points

The morning newscast was supposed to be rebranded as “CBS Colorado Mornings”. As of today, it is still “CBS4 This Morning”.0 points
