  1. Nexstar has a real challenge on its hands with KUSI, and it's not just an integration and construction challenge. KUSI was the most unabashedly conservative TV newsroom in a major market anywhere. Embarrassingly so. And they will be dealing with angry viewers of that persuasion. But anyone external to the McKinnons and right-wing politics probably looks at KUSI and goes "yikes". Heck, I think even someone who came to KUSI from a Sinclair station would be shocked. There is a difference between a conservative lean, justifiable in San Diego, and just being a peddler of conservative disinformation. KUSI was frequently the latter. And Nexstar is only a "left-wing" operation if you're so far off to the right that NewsNation is radically left.

  2. I was about to say, their social media person needed to go. That person wouldn’t know the difference between reporting and editorializing if it slapped em in the face.

  3. Yeah it was probably the one used back in the day for People are Talking, with audience risers and all. Wasn't sure if it got repurposed along the way but apparently not.

  4. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2023/9/3/scripps-is-tanking It seems the changes are not having a good effect on their stock price. The way Scripps is headed, they are an oversized albatross with too many worthless (Ion) stations. They need to right-size themselves by divesting the rest of the Ion stations to Inyo (at least the licenses) so they may be a company worth investing in and potentially merging into another as a means of survival.

  5. From Gotham City: WCBS: Judge Judy (2x) moves to 3pm, replacing Dr. Phil + Hot Bench (double run) takes over at 4pm on 9/11. WNBC: No changes WNYW: Another Family feud (2x) run replaces Big Bang Theory at 11p on 9/4. Person place or Thing (1st run) replaces a You Bet Your Life run at 1:30p on 9/11. WABC: Rachael Ray moves back to her original slot at 10am as placeholder for her last week + Tamron Hall moves to 2pm on 9/4. Eyewitness News at 10a debuts 9/12. (delayed by a day for obvious reasons) WWOR: Encore run of Divorce Court at 8:30a while a previous run of Dish Nation at 6:30p (replacing BBT) after their new one for one week only on 9/4, both serves as placeholders. Effective 9/11: a People's Court run moves up a hour to 12p, Divorce Court (2x) moves up to 1pm. Maury (1x) moves to 2p, Jennifer Hudson encore moves up at 4p. Another Feud run at 5p, Who the Bleep is that? at 5:30p, People Puzzler debuts at 6p, pushing new Dish Nation back to 6:30p. TMZ Live encore moves up at 11p (from 12:30a) replacing that feud 2x run that'll transfer to WNYW in same timeframe. People Puzzler (2nd run) at 12a + Person, place or Thing (2nd run) at 12:30a, pushing Pictionary (2nd run) to 1a. Observations: My9 has been the Feud station for a while + this only cements it. Currently, 7-8p, 10-11p + 11:30p (not to mention 6:30p on FOX 5, which will also add 11p-12a runs on 9/11, latter half transferred from My9) Add in extra 5p run, it's 4 hrs. combined of Feud runs from the duop. Not to mention how WWOR hasn't only been a shell of itself, it became a 'parking lot'. 9 Broadcast Plaza is all but gone. But I'll digress. WLNY: CBS News New York debuted newscast at 8p (encore at 8:30p) on 9/1 Law + Order: SVU moves back to 9p Effective 9/11: Forensic files at 4a (replacing The balancing act), Top secret files at 4:30a (replacing Scene of the crime) Supreme Justice at 5a, Justice for All + The Verdict w/ Hatchett at 6 + 6:30a (replacing Springer), CBS Morning (2nd half) simulcast at 8a (replacing another Springer run) Equal Justice w/ Judge Eboni (1x) at 11:30a, Justice for the people (2x) (Judge Milian's new show) at 12p, Cutlers Court, basically the new Couples Court, at 1p (2x) (replacing Relative Justice) Judge Mathis airs solo at 2p, Springer moves to 3p and airs solo (replacing Mathis' 2nd run) WPIX: Big Bang Theory debuts at 7:30p on 9/4 Young Sheldon moves to 1:30a, Black-ish (1x) in its final week at 2a + The Goldbergs at 2:30a on early 9/5 Dr. Phil reruns move to PIX11 at 3p on 9/11 Effective 9/12: Big Bang Theory (2nd run) at 1a, Paid Program at 2a (replacing Black-ish), Two and a Half men (2nd run) moves to 2:30a, The goldbergs (1x) at 3:30a (replacing Last Man Standing, but still can be seen on WLNY 7-8p) Side Note: For those station/subchannels affiliated with the CW Plus feed: Black-ish exits after 9/9. TMZ, TMZ Live + Dish Nation are added to the daily schedule on 9/4. Chicago PD + The liquidator reruns move to 6a + 7a respectively, while We the people (1x) + Divorce Court (2x) air 7:30 + 8-9a respectively, also 9/4. Springer returns to the schedule on 9/11 (replacing Black-ish). Judge Jerry + Caught in Providence reruns exited after this past week.

  6. I think most of us get this...it just sucks that this is the turn television has taken. The "let's just plug all the programming holes with news" way. Yes tv is a buainess, and I'm all for profitablility, but the all news all day trend with no effort into alternative programming is extreme. Especially in the age of cutting the coard it would be nice if there was good stuff to watch on broadcast but I suppose that's what streaming is for. Anyway this issue is beyond WABC.

  7. I believe YTTV carries some (if not all) of Sinclair’s MyNetworkTV affiliates. Someone CMIIW, but I think WPNT was among those that it carried even before the station switched to The CW. So, it’s very possible nothing changes as far as KOCB’s carriage goes.

  8. Here's more of the new college football scorebug, including the indicator of how many points a team has scored in a play (+6, +3, etc.), and the specific penalty a team will have committed. The more I study this, the more I become inclined to believe that the graphics were designed with a sticker theme in mind, which explains the tilted logos, tilted placement of the exact penalty committed (complete with exclamation warning marks, as if the black and yellow wasn't enough to let you know already), and even the slightly tilted bar containing the quarter, time, and down and distance. They've well and truly accomplished the style, but where's the readability, especially in the team names below the logos (not helped by them also being handwritten and sometimes in colors that clash with each other)?

  9. I didn’t know there were any ABC affiliates still delaying Kimmel. An odd time to suddenly start airing him in pattern with the writers strike.

  10. There’s a few exceptions. KIRO in Seattle has been doing the same thing for several years, air it at 2 for an hour news and a station in Oklahoma (I believe it’s Tulsa) delays it til late night).

  11. I just want to be able to use my TVE credentials to watch the channel but they have about four different sites and now under ES, it's gotten much worse. And the same confusion exists for Weather Underground, which is both a 'wacky off-the-cuff weather show' on TWC...and a completely boring weather site run by IBM.

  12. Just noticed with the Idalia coverage that TWC has switched to Carhartt for their field-reporting gear. Apparently this change went into effect May 2, 2023 with the network's 41st anniversary. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/the-weather-channel-television-network-and-carhartt-announce-new-apparel-partnership-introducing-a-fresh-look-for-the-networks-meteorologists-301813055.html This is the biggest change to date, because gone are the blue raingear outfits previously offered by Lands End, and before them L.L. Bean and Columbia. With the new Carhartt deal, the raingear worn by the field meteorologists is all-black, and during clear conditions, the field mets wear gray Carhartt work shirts. Looks like with this deal, the color scheme is more on-brand with Carhartt itself, rather than TWC. The TWC logo is still featured on all apparel, just the colors are more in-line with Carhartt's typical offerings.

  13. He was singlehandedly responsible, in the East at least, for CBS affiliates almost always dominating the noon hour because of the lead-in he provided. I’d say it fits here.

  14. In this age of cord cutting cutting, this could have been an opportunity for broadcast networks to regain some strength (if not for streaming). Sadly we're running out of syndication options. It's went from too many talk shows to not enough. With the boom of excessive newscasts, gone are the days when you could keep your TV on a local station for hours without changing the channel. I'm sure station executives don't expect the same audience to sit through big news blocks like 4 to 6:30 PM. They're most likely banking on a different audience tuning in at the top or bottom of news hours.

  15. As far as Oklahoma City goes: KFOR: * On weekdays, the only change will be Dateline (the syndicated run moving over from KSBI) replacing Rachael Ray at 11:00 a.m. * On weekends, S.W.A.T. and The Good Doctor each move up a half-hour (at 12:03 and 1:03 a.m., respectively) and Raw Travel gets bumped two hours later to 2:04 a.m. on Saturday/early Sundays, while The Equalizer takes over Magnum, P.I.'s timeslot on Sundays at 10:35. (The Equalizer will air after the Dallas Cowboys Post-Game Show, instead of immediately after the 10:00 news, during the NFL season.) KOCO: No changes KWTV: * On weekdays, no changes (notably, Dr. Phil reruns will stay put at 3:00 p.m.). * On weekends, Fast: Home Rescue (the Weather Channel home renovation series that TWC parent Allen Media Group has sold into syndication this year) replaces Entertainment Tonight Weekend at 12:30 a.m. Saturday/early Sundays. (ET Weekend will now only air Sunday/early Mondays at midnight.) KOKH: * On weekdays, the only change will be a day-behind rerun of TMZ Live replacing the local lifestyle program Living Oklahoma (which the station has cancelled after an eight-year run) at 10:00 a.m. (Notably, even though other Nexstar stations are adding The Big Bang Theory this season, KAUT won’t be one of them as it will continue to air it in the 6:00 p.m. hour weekdays on KOKH and Saturdays on KOCB; KAUT not taking TBBT wastes a possible opportunity for KOKH to finally add a 6:00 p.m. newscast, but I digress.) * On weekends, Judge Judy reruns and Modern Family will replace a syndicated movie package from 3:00-5:00 a.m. Saturday/early Sundays, while Film Flickers with Kimberly and Esteban and Good Taste with Tanji Patton (both from San Antonio sister station KABB, and which will still both be carried by KOCB on Saturday nights) will be added to KOKH's schedule at 3:00 and 3:30 a.m. Sunday/early Mondays. KOCB: Several changes are being made to its schedule, especially in timeslots previously occupied by CW programming (having lost the network to KAUT): * On weekdays, an additional run of Divorce Court replaces Judge Jerry reruns at 9:00 a.m. (expanding the former to a one-hour block), and Person, Place or Thing replaces You Bet Your Life at 5:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. (curiously, promos for PPT that KOCB has aired since late August have not included any timeslot or station references). Replacing the CW primetime lineup will be an extra half-hour of The National Desk at 7:00 p.m., iCRIME at 7:30 p.m. and an additional hour of Family Feud at 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. (Oddly, the station's first night as an independent, 9/1, saw The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob's Burgers air in those slots, apparently that was a one-time thing.) * On Saturdays, One Magnificent Morning has been replaced with syndicated E/I shows (DragonFlyTV [moved from KAUT] at 7:00, Missing [moved from KWTV-DT2] at 7:30, Elizabeth Stanton's Great Big World [last syndicated locally on KAUT a few years ago] at 8:00, Animal Science [formerly an Xploration Station series] at 8:30, and Xploration Earth 2050 at 9:00 a.m.), while Family Feud (at 7:00 and 7:30 p.m.) and TMZ Weekend (at 8:00 p.m.) replace CW primetime shows. (KOCB will also be carrying HBCUGo college football games beginning 9/9, meaning the schedule will vary depending on the start time of that week's telecast.) * On Sundays, Last Man Standing replaces The Big Bang Theory in the 6:00 p.m. hour, while movies (presumably the same package being dropped from KOKH's Saturday overnight schedule) will air from 7:00-(approximately) 9:00 p.m. (The schedule for 9/17 has Jack Van Impe Presents at 6:30 p.m. Sundays, which if true would be the first time KOCB has aired religious programming on Sunday evenings since the early 1990s, during the tail end of its first run as an independent). * In addition, Full Measure with Sheryl Atkisson will air at 11:00 a.m. Saturdays, and at 11:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. KAUT: In addition to taking over the CW affiliation, there's quite a few lineup changes: * On weekdays, several shows have moved timeslots: Pictionary (to 10:00-11:00 a.m., from 4:00-5:00 p.m.), Law & Order: SVU (from a two-hour 10:00 a.m.-noon block into two separate blocks at 5:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.), The Neighborhood (to 4:00-5:00 p.m., from 12:30-1:30 a.m.) and American Housewife (to 5:00-6:00 p.m., from 7:00-8:00 p.m.), Mom (to 12:30-1:30 a.m., from 6:00-7:00 p.m.). People Puzzler replaces SVU from 11:00 a.m.-noon, Court Cam replaces Storage Wars and Pawn Stars from 1:00-2:00 p.m. (the latter two will continue airing at 6:00 and 6:30 a.m., respectively), 48 Hours replaces the departing Black-ish at 1:30 a.m., and Dateline replaces an early-morning run of Maury at 4:00 a.m. * On Saturdays, the station's comedy block will be split up by CW programming and start earlier in the day, with The Neighborhood (4:00-5:00 p.m.), American Housewife (5:00-6:00 p.m.), Young Sheldon (6:00-7:00 p.m. and 9:00-10:00 p.m., the latter block replacing Black-ish). (The three shows will start a half-hour earlier during weeks when KFOR offloads Discover Oklahoma to KAUT because of commitments to sports events that NBC may air in Saturday prime time.) The late night lineup will now feature Chicago Fire (the weekend run moving from KWTV/KSBI, and replacing a syndicated movie package) from 10:00-midnight, Law & Order: SVU from midnight-2:00 a.m. (replacing Storm of Suspicion and Weather Gone Viral, which both move to 3:00 and 2:00 a.m., respectively, to replace the departing Impractical Jokers and Carbanaro Effect). * On Sundays, U.S. Farm Report (which already airs Saturdays in that hour on KFOR) will be added at 5:00 a.m., Mom will air from 3:00-4:00 p.m. (replacing Impractical Jokers), Friends will air from 4:00-5:00 p.m. (relegating it exclusively to Sundays, replacing Storage Wars) and Heartland moves from its ill-fitting 11:00 p.m. slot to 5:00 p.m. (replacing Pawn Stars). Sunday nights after the CW lineup will feature The Good Doctor at 9:00 p.m., The Equalizer (taking over for Magnum, P.I.) at 10:00 p.m., S.W.A.T. at 11:00 p.m., SEAL Team at midnight, The Listener at 1:00 a.m. and Chicago P.D. from 2:00-4:00 a.m. KSBI: * On weekdays, Equal Justice will replace Personal Injury Court from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and Highway to Hell from 5:00-6:00 p.m., an additional run of The Liquidator replaces the departing Law & Crime Daily at 12:30 p.m., Mathis Court replaces Relative Justice from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and a second run of Highway to Hell from 2:00-3:00 a.m., Justice for the People with Judge Milian replaces Dateline at 3:00 p.m., Cutlers Court replacing Chicago Fire at 4:00 p.m., and Chicago Fire replacing a same-day Dr. Phil rebroadcast at 6:00 p.m. and Dateline at 9:00 p.m. * On weekends, Law & Order: SVU replaces Forensic Files and Designing Spaces at 6:00 p.m. Saturdays; while on Sundays, Chicago Fire replaces Bloodline Detectives at 6:00 p.m., Bloodline Detectives replaces Dateline at 9:00 p.m., SOS: How to Survive replaces Chicago Fire at 10:00 p.m., Fast: Home Rescue replaces SOS at 11:00 p.m., Moviefone TV and Designing Spaces replace Entertainers in the midnight hour, and Real Green replaces Designing Spaces at 1:00 a.m. Note regarding the KOCB schedule (in relation to @justin2kx and @MD TV’s posts): Between the newly added blocks mentioned plus the show’s existing timeslots (weekdays 2:00-3:00 and 5:30-7:00 p.m., Saturdays 3:00-3:30 p.m. and Sundays 3:00-4:00 and 5:00-6:00 p.m.), this season, Family Feud will occupy 20 hours [or approximately 12%] of KOCB’s weekly schedule! On weekdays alone, KOCB now matches WDCA in the number of daily Feud airings it runs.

  16. CW7: Seems to still have Couples Court with The Cutlers unless that is the new court show shouldn't Couples Court be leaving syndication 2PM to 2:30PM. Mathis Court 2:30PM to 3PM Mathis going against his old show on WXSP from WB at least the second half, Justice For The People Judge Milian 3PM to 4PM competing with her old show The People's Court on WXSP. WXMI Fox17: Drew Barrymore moving from 12PM to 11AM to 12PM, We The People Moves from 10AM to 12PM to 1PM as Fox17 is having morning news from 5AM to 10AM, Fox17 Morning Mix moves up an hour from 9AM to 10AM, Scripps News at 1PM to 1:30PM, ICrime 1:30PM to 2PM second run at 1AM to 1:30AM. 48 Hours & Dateline combo from 2PM to 4PM leading into 4PM news, another Scripps News show at 7PM, Person Place Or Thing 1:30AM to 2:30AM. L&O SVU is leaving after a couple of years in late night. WOTV: Young Shelton double run taking AH 11PM to 12AM slot Sep 16, weekend edition Fast Home Rescue Sun 1PM to 2PM. WXSP: Fast Home Rescue replacing Black-ish late Sun/early Mon Sep 17/18 12:30AM to 1:30AM. I don't get why Nexstar didn't put Jennifer Hudson on Wood TV or WOTV haven't seen any promos for J Hud on her moving. Nexstar not good with airing any promos truth be told other than Wood TV & WOTV somewhat.

  17. From the City of Brotherly Love: WPVI: Tamron Hall moving to 2PM to make way for Action News at 10AM. This week only (9/4) Rachel Ray is running in the 10AM slot. WCAU: No changes. KYW: Dr. Phil is dropped starting 9/11 (moving to WPHL) in favor of Family Feud reruns at 3PM. WTXF: The Good Day After Show, which has been heavily advertised as being streaming only on the FOX Local app starting this week, will be seen linearly starting 9/11 from 10-11 AM, unofficially expanding Good Day Philadelphia to 7 hours. As a result, Sherri and Jennifer Hudson are both pushed to 11 AM and Noon respectively. Pictionary and 25 Words or Less are remaining at the 1PM hour but switching places. 2PM will now have a replay of the 9AM hour of Good Day, like when Dr. Oz was pulled, replacing a run of You Bet Your Life. Extra moving to 7PM, with TMZ now at 7:30PM replacing the second run of YBYL, with only the run one of Dish Nation at 12:30AM. Locally, The Phantastic Sports Show will be seen at 11:30PM. WPSG: Coinciding with the rebrand to Philly 57, major daytime changes are occurring. Funny You Should Ask moved up to 9AM, with 10AM now featuring iCRIME and Court Cam (the latter starting 9/11). 11AM this week (9/4) features a replay of Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight, but starting 9/11 will feature Equal Justice w/Judge Eboni K. Williams and We the People w/ Judge Lauren Lake at 11:30AM. Justice for All w/Judge Cristina Perez moved up to 12:30 PM. The rest of daytime includes Cutlers Court at 1PM, Justice for the People w/ udge Milian at 2PM, and Mathis Court w/Judge Mathis at 3PM, the latter two replacing Relative Justice and The People's Court. Another hour of Hot Bench at 4PM, replacing Judge Mathis. The syndie run of People Puzzler added at 6:30PM, replacing a Family Feud run, which will still be seen at 6 and 7-8PM. Replacing the CW shows will be CBS News Philadelphia at 8PM and 48 Hours at 9PM. Law and Order: SVU, The Neighborhood, and The King of Queens will all move up an hour, starting at 10PM. WPHL: Other than adding the CW lineup during primetime, quite a few lineup changes. Jerry Springer moving up to 10AM, resulting in Justice w/ Judge Mablean moving to 3-4AM, displacing MNT programming. One run of Maury has been replaced with another run of Karamo at 11AM. Dr. Phil moving from KYW at 4PM, replacing Black-ish. Young Sheldon moving up to 5PM and adding another run of Big Bang Theory at 5:30PM. Due to adding the CW, an hour of Modern Family is now at 11PM, with Friends now only seen on Sundays, and Mom moving to 2AM, displacing MNT programming. MNT programming has been moved to their Antenna TV subchannel, running in-pattern from 8-10 PM. WFMZ: Hot Bench moving to 10AM, replacing Rachel Ray. Entertainment Tonight replacing Ring Nation at 11AM, moving to 8PM. 48 Hours at 3PM, with Dateline moving to 9PM. Inside Edition at 8:30PM. Court Cam at 4:30AM as a lead in to 69 News at Sunrise.

  18. And let's not leave out The 700 Club, which continues to pollute the WWOR airwaves at 9:00a. But I guess that's the only thing better than infomercials or another double-run of Steve Harvey's Family Feud in that hour slot.

  19. Some additional observations from Houston on the purgatory known as non-sports weekend programming… At KPRC, Impractical Jokers is DONE, and their usual time slots this coming Saturday are listed on Xfinity and TVPassport as “To Be Announced”. The Saturday schedule has the weekend Entertainment Tonight run airing at 1:02am and Byron Allen’s The American Athlete running at 2:30am - on BOTH late Saturday AND late Sunday night. A new locally produced foodie show, Eat Like a Local from noted Houston chef Chris Shepherd, will re-air Sunday night following their long-running Sports Sunday; this program will primarily air at 10am Saturday mornings between KPRC’s Saturday morning filler newscasts and various NBC sports and E/I programs. KHOU remains virtually unchanged save for The Equalizer replacing the now canceled Magnum P.I. on the CMV weekend block, slotted at 12:30am Saturday night and 1:30am Sunday night between fellow CMV warehouse stablemate SEAL Team and non-CMV Murdoch Mysteries repeats from the CBC. And at KIAH, much like fellow truTV import Impractical Jokers, The Carbonaro Effect is also DONE, as the weekend reruns of The Big Bang Theory will take the Sunday night 1am slot. Pawn Stars and Storage Wars remain where they are now in the 2am and 3am hours, and Major Crimes appears to be airing in the Saturday night 2am slot instead of a run of PS. The rest of the weekend outside of CW, CW Sports, a few local shows, Nexstar must-runs and some smaller-tier HBCU football games will be a hodgepodge of movies and reruns, but after some 25 years or so Friends will not be one of them. Call this year The One Where We Got Kicked Out of Houston…“We” referring to those six lovable roomies from a now-bygone era lounging on the couch at Central Perk. No significant weekend changes at KTRK, KRIV or KTXH.
