  1. What is the issue? So no one can comment on a thread that hasn't been active in a while? And I think my comment fits because many people in this thread have discussed the hesitancy to break up the Dick Wolf blocks as an obstacle to slashing 10pm. I'm just mentioning that they have. So I see no issue with what I've commented.

  2. Please don't bump a thread that hasn't been touched in 14 months, unless, in the case of this thread, primetime on NBC was actually being cut down. A one-off schedule change, even if previously mentioned, doesn't warrant the bump.

  4. Did they ever think about the consequences when they tried to aquire WDAF-TV in Kansas City, WJW in Cleveland, and the rest of the Tribune Media stations? Nope. They never did anything to think about the consequences about what they did or the consequences. I don't think they would ever EVEN thought about cashing in years ago.

  5. Or they could shop them around instead of automatically putting them into the black box that is streaming?

  6. If you look at the schedule though, which has been wrong as of late; currently they seem to be carrying older Sony Black sitcoms and random infomercials on the ex-BNC cable feed, and the stream has a random Serena Williams documentary. Something is going on when you get three different programs on three different ways to watch the same network.

  7. Other shows that were not doing well on NBC, should be given a chance to continue another season on peacock, especially if they were on the borderline, like Quantlum Leap. This was a show they were also producing, instead of being canceled. I understand the ratings were lower, but there were fans that were upset that this show was canceled.

  8. Well one of the solid Dick Wolf blocks has been broken up. Law & Order Organized Crime is moving to Peacock. I'm surprised by this because the strength of this block came from having Stabler and Benson on back to back shows. Admittedly I find myself having to rewatch during streaming because if you miss details during an episode you might end up lost. To your point yes, it would probably work work better as 10-episode show focused on one crime ring for the entire season rather than moving on to a new crime ring after 2 to 3 episodes. Interesting thought on sports.

  9. Hopefully, they don't move Chicago PD. The Chicago and Law & Order blocks are one of the few reasons left to watch live prime-time drama.

  11. If Ernie and Chuck aren't both joining then they should just move on with a new studio show. Ernie has already said he isn’t moving. Nothing in sports comes close to how great Inside the NBA is.

  15. Based on what was written about Freeze, that makes total sense if true. As for Frazer, not sure about that one. I'm kinda shocked.

  16. I could see WTXF picking it up. They definitely have room on their schedule, considering they air the "Good Day After Show" at both 10 AM and 2 PM. GMFB could go at 10 with everything else moving back an hour and the GDAS replay being eliminated.

  17. I loved Jason and Amy. It’s sad if they’re both leaving, especially since Jason essentially kicked off FOX weather by being the first person to speak when they signed on.

  18. I honestly hope that KTUL is one of the stations that gets sold. They’re a good station. They just need a bit of TLC. It’s a real shame how far they’ve fallen. Don Woods is rolling over in his grave.

  19. Only one station you named is even a CBS affiliate. you took a question I am posing and added nonsense and irrelevance to it. When CBS used "CBS Texas" on KTVT instead of "CBS DFW", some of us wondered if it was purposeful for a broader plan (going back to February 2023) in their implementation. We all believe that CBS is looking to divest rather than buy, which made my question a long-shot (and probably gave some here a headache on its' own); but your add-on nonsensical.

  20. With all do respect, the only purpose of commerical broadcasting is to make money. "Public good" is secondary, if it is even a factor.

  21. Irrelevant to the topic at hand. They also have money and incentive. That's why EMF, Relevant Radio and Daystar have vacuumed up oodles of stations over the years. I'm not "beign jealous" of anything, I'm simply existing in the real world, not fantasy-driven wishcasting of groups buying a bunch of basketcase stations from a bush league owner. Have you ever heard of "return on investment"? Again, totally irrelevant to the topic at hand. With all due respect, do better.

  22. INSP ≠ Godcaster INSP is not and will NEVER be an Godcaster for these stations, and won't turn to an Godcaster.

  23. INSP, Coastal and Daystar are the most likely buyers of these stations. Standard General is a company in limbo since they failed to get Tegna (with the current farce that is MediaCo, Standard clearly has no idea what their plans are in any aspect of mass media) and the stations they currently have are low-budget, low-rated dumps. Plus Apollo is not going to spend money on stations that sorely need investment in or need totally new infrastructures altogether.

  24. Even without the links to Old Scotty's blog, it's fairly obvious that Byron Allen is overleveraged and likely is being crushed by debt. One could argue that his fruitless "bids" to buy ABC, Tegna and Paramount Global have been simple distractions to hide what is a much more serious problem.

  26. Yeah no Scripps isn’t modernizing news. Scripps cut people that were making the most money in the newsroom that aren’t managers (the anchors). Then sat down with some people that still watch news and ask was the biggest complaint about news and it was that they never report about news in their small town. The neighbor reporter concept is a good idea for communities that get underreported, KABC has a few communities reporters in the LA neighborhoods that maybe get on the air 2-3 times week and post other stories online but KABC also has a team of general assignment reporters and beat reporters. At some Scripps stations every reporter is a neighborhood reporter and the top 2 or 3 stories could be, smithtowns grand opening of Olive Garden happen today and Greg Johnson of Lilly village is 8th grade state spelling bee champ. Scripps is getting rid of any veteran they can, these people were teachers to the new hires at most scripp stations, most are coming straight out of college. This does delay the shutting down of newsrooms though which is good.

  27. My argument is that this is just like a retail store. If they're not open when you need them, and you're forced to go somewhere else, sooner or later you get out of the habit of going there. So if Kroger closes at 9:00, but Meijer's is open until midnight, you're going to get into the habit of going to Meijer's and Kroger's fades away for you. Radio tried that. The argument is that they have so few listeners after 7:00 p.m. that it's not worth it to have live talent. You can see how relevant radio is everywhere except for the car anymore.

  28. Something is up. TheGrio just eliminated their only two original shows and their schedule is now just a bunch of Allen/ES shows. They've been losing affiliates and their coverage of the US is now under 45% according to Rabbit Ears.

  29. It's not too surprising L&O: OC moved to Peacock. Ratings-wise, it is the weakest of the L&O block and it just doesn't work well as a 22-episode show. I wouldn't be surprised if they move Chicago PD (Season 13) to Peacock as well. As far as slashing the 3rd hr. of primetime, that likely isn't necessary if they get the NBA. Their scripted slate would be greatly reduced and result in cost-savings long term (which is part of the reason why they wanted to cut the hour in the first place).

  30. Why? Because they actually modernized production for their newscasts and thus made themselves a target of a has-been blogger who wants things to remain stuck in 1989 even as viewing habits have collapsed across the board? In the real world, the only real weak spot is the Ion stations, and that's because of the soft national ad market.

  31. You guys are setting up yourselves for disappointment if you think the networks, cox, graham, Scripps (yikes) or any other broadcast company is buying any Sinclair station. It’s been reported that Sinclair is looking to unload small market stations, most likely CW, mynet and independents. Sinclair will sell those underperforming stations to a private equity firm, then they will gut the stations or let the network and syndicated contracts expire and sell the spectrum to god casters. I think the thing to look for is what network contracts are due to expire. That could be a sign to what stations sinclair unloads.
