  1. Fox News and MSNBC aren't news channels. They exhibit political punditry (opinion). They can brand themselves however they like, but just because they call themselves "news" doesn't mean they are news. Call a potato whatever you want, but it does not make it a banana.

  2. Nexstar's WATE has upgraded their graphics to the PIX 11 graphics. They have also modified their logo to a more flat look. Had a hard time getting pics from the live stream

  3. CNN as well despite any assurance that they are a genuine news channel. If the channels' day is filled with punditry and opinion of ANY kind, that ship has sailed. Sadly, the concept of a "news channel" is long gone. The only thing that even comes close are the "live" variants like NBC News Now and Fox's LiveNow.

  4. KTTV has 'Good Nite LA' at 11pm, and it's a live newscast. No morning clip show, just playing off the branding.

  5. In regards to Savannah & Hoda, it actually was the reverse as I noticed the day before the Opening Ceremony, Savannah was still in NYC & they did do a report from the U.S. Olympic House in Paris & Hoda was there.

  6. Going by their Eiffel Tower and IBC studio spaces it just might be smaller and have to be used for more things rather than when they shipped out the portable Today set-in-a-box, which really isn't practical for this Paris go-around. I suspect they'll have a lot more room in 2028 when they can do something like use the IBC (based at Universal Studios), use their studio 1 for a large set since Kelly is now New York-based, or even sub-lease space from the NFL in Inglewood.

  7. I feel like NBC (especially Today) has been less invested in the Olympics the past few go-arounds. This year, Savannah was there a couple days early, Hoda joined for the Opening Ceremony, Al and Craig joined later; and now they're already back in 1A. Didn't it seem that they used to be there start to finish? Or was that likely more so they didn't have a 1A to go back to until the construction was done? Or that the Today team had more duties with opening/closing ceremony broadcasts in the past?

  8. I was wondering if some of the highlight music was custom or production music. Particularly what they play when promoting the Late Night coverage.

  9. Does anyone have any links to NBC's new cuts of the Olympic theme song that they are using during Primetime in Paris?

  10. That’s disappointing! LOL I have to imagine something is going to be in the works prior to the election.

  12. @Weeters I did reach out to WGTA via Facebook and they informed me that their association ended with Newsnet in 2023. They stated "No, we don't air the news at nine anymore. It was produced by Newsnet but the partnership ended a year ago." They just need to get Titan to update their listings. I knew WPGA ended the agreement when Gray took over and replaced it with a newscast from WANF.

  13. I feel like that would amount to a Jeff Glor 2.0 situation. Moderately known, middle aged, all American anchorman who gets the job done but ends up gone in a few years. The advantage that ABC and NBC have is that they have well groomed anchor talent waiting in the reserves. If David & Lester were to quit tomorrow, Tom Llamas, Savannah Guthrie, Peter Alexander, or George Stephanopoulos, Lindsay Davis and Whit Johnson could step in ASAP.

  14. As someone who recently moved to a Spectrum area, I can attest to their use of streaming apps instead of traditional cable boxes. Not having a traditional cable box was a bit weird at first, but the change actually worked out. What helped a lot is that the Xumo Streambox's remote has number keys. I do miss having a DVR, though -- Xfinity has had a cloud DVR for a few years now, so hopefully they're lending Spectrum a hand in getting that going.

  15. And he’s moving on to WPTV in West Palm. (Did anyone tell him it doesn’t snow there? ) Can’t fault him, passed over twice for full time roles, and it seems pretty clear the powers that be did not respect or value his contributions and connections with viewers. Oh well, such is the world.

  16. Since I haven't seen anyone start it up yet, I will, here's the 2024 LocalNewsTalk preseason NFL graphics roundup starting with Carolina & New England (no changes it appears) & Detroit & N.Y. Giants both using the current 2023 FOX graphics set, the Lions going from Bally Sports Detroit while the Giants have switched broadcast rights from WNBC to WNYW. Have a feeling we'll see this change implemented on the Atlanta Falcons & Minnesota Vikings broadcasts with both being on FOX O&O's (WAGA & KMSP) & using their NFL grahpics in the past.

  17. Months after TVNewsCheck briefly suspended daily site updates and feature articles, on Monday (August 6), Future plc announced it will cease publishing the print editions and daily newsletters of venerable broadcasting industry magazines Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News effective September 30, after 93 and 34 years, respectively. Future’s Next TV will relaunch its website as a single portal combining reporting from all three brands in the fall (B&C and MCN already have subpages on the website), and will continue distributing its “SmartBrief” newsletter to cover streaming, broadcasting and pay-TV industry stories.
