She has been off the air for probably a couple of months. I'm sure appreciates privacy.1 point

Not sure where this Payton to NY thing keeps coming from. Realistically, it’s probably for his wife’s career that they’ll move back. He’s not getting mornings, though I’d have no objections. They’re not splitting morning from 10 am. Payton is not being stashed in Philly until someone departs in NY. To his credit, it appears he didn’t burn bridges and was sent off with good wishes. If they found themselves with several openings it might position him as a candidate. The most plausible scenario is some kind of stronger role if by some chance both Payton and Brittany had parental leave at the same time and they needed temporary help. Or somewhere down the line Karen retires and they elevate Brittany to mornings creating a weekend opening. Otherwise, possibly a gig at another station and/or following the “Nor’easter Nick” model of creating a business independent of TV.1 point

Not surprisingly, WBNS has done a great job with choosing footage for the intros.1 point

Something is definitely up at WPTV. Frances Peyton is leaving this week, which will soon leave their weather team very short-staffed. All they'll have left is James Wieland, Sami Squires, and the recently hired Skylar Spiner. With Steve Weagle's retirement (and Steve Villanueva leaving a year or so before him to join WFLX's sales team), Frances leaving, Jennifer Correa leaving after a short stint, new Chief Chris Sowers already gone, and even Kate Wentzel also gone (her bio is no longer on the page), things are changing at WPTV and not for the better without the station saying a word. Comments are also saying that WPTV's longtime Chopper 5 has been permanently grounded after having been the only news chopper in town for decades (after WPEC retired theirs in the late 90s or early 2000s). https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=43745556961126861 point

One of these days, Nexstar is going to lose the game they invented. At this rate, its a matter of WHEN a network pulls their affiliation when they balk at the rates and a pay TV provider permanently drops them when they demand too much money. They'll be as toxically radioactive as the former Fox Sports RSNs (which will finally die this year under MainStreet).1 point

Way back when, Family Feud was on maybe once or twice a day on daytime and network TV. Nowadays, it's on up to 6 times a day BEFORE the network version even airs. And Steve Harvey has blown past the tenure of Richard Dawson by several years. Then again, Judge Judy is in repeats despite not producing a new episode in over 5 years, even against her successor program Judy Justice.1 point

it said 'digital broadcast rights' only Two and a half Men was announced as 'digitial broadcast exclusive' so depending on how you think of that term. We'll see soon enough1 point

In the lyrics of Semisonic, every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. What makes Times Square fascinating in part is how spaces keep getting used and reused.1 point

Within two years. Which, again, gives them plenty of time to wait for the rules to be changed so they don't have to. If they get to keep it, that is.1 point

If Steve is such a "horrible" host, then explain how he's still going strong after 16 years as host? This version probably would have been canceled back in 2010 had he not been hired.1 point

On election night 2024, they pre-empted NewsNation's coverage on their CW affiliates in favor of Sinclair's own election night coverage from the National News Desk: At this point, I'm surprised Nexstar isn't purging network branding from their stations' logos (excluding CW stations, of course) like Gray was doing.1 point

Nexstar back when they were acquiring Tribune seemed like they knew what they were doing. I was completely wrong as they have lost their minds with Trump 2.0. Maybe they've always been like this but I was wrong in thinking they were a well run company. They're doing shit not even Sinclair would think of doing.1 point

HA! Now that’s good lawyering. What the heck was Nexstar thinking making a claim in front of a judge that your own SEC filing disputes. Begs the question, which audience were they lying to??1 point

NBCU is continuing to offer Steve and Karamo as reruns, and apparently the Maury reruns they distribute get surprisingly good numbers in a number of markets (Milwaukee being one of them). I also wonder if simulcasting blocks of stations’ diginets could be a strategy; maybe Sinclair stations could simulcast parts of Comet or ROAR’s schedules1 point

I really wonder what's going to happen to the CW, MyNet and independent stations, since the trash talk was a staple.1 point

Could they bring back DAYS OF OUR LIVES to the broadcast/linear/mother channel? I also don’t think it’s a bad idea for them to make a syndicated version of Password to air at 7:30.1 point

For years, the station used CNN's Carolyn Manno on a per diem basis. She was excellent, a real pro! Now that WNJU has physically moved into 30 Rock, Lerner has taken advantage of using WNJU reporters in the street and last Sunday, he chose to use a female sports anchor from 47. It was all too evident that English was her second language!' Then, Channel 4 exacerbated the situation by having her host the half-hour Sports Final!!!!! In my opinion, it was a disaster! Her accent was so thick, the station could have employed lower-third captioning. It's wonderful for people to be bi-lingual - think of Jose Diaz-Balart and Violeta Yas - their English is impeccable. Lerner is playing a dangerous game - Penny wise and pound foolish! Channel 4's audience deserves better.1 point
