KOCO in 1987 -- so THAT's where Ron Gardner went (KARK had a report about his alleged "disappearance") There's also a little KWTV in that too:5 points
So recently we found KPNX's 1992-93 "Your choice for Real Life, Real News in the 90s" open, which resembled that of WCCO's open from that same time frame in some ways. I wonder if Wow & Flutter were also the composers of KPNX's 1992 theme besides their Everyday Music Package?
That's a question I've had myself. @TServo2049 might have a clue. Wow and Flutter was founded by Jerry Brunskill, and he'd be the one that would need to be contacted. If it did turn out to be Wow and Flutter, it would mean two straight KPNX themes composed by Twin Cities composers.5 points

Not news-related, but WYCC will sign off the air on October 25. Chicago will only have WTTW and WYIN as their PBS stations. http://www.robertfeder.com/2017/09/19/robservations-wycc-signing-off-air-october-25/5 points

Is that the WMGM News Package by Gari Media Group? It sounds very much like "The One For All" but with that classic Gari-esque early '90s synthesizer.4 points

A whole reel of KOAT footage from this photographer who spent five months there in 1998. Starts out with a shot of his John Christopher Burns-designed business card (and other graphics that still jump off the screen 20 years later!). How had I not seen this before?3 points

Wow! A complete 10 p.m. KTVK newscast from the final days of the station's ABC affiliation:2 points

This promo has reminded me of the sung segment open used by KTVK in the early years of Good Evening Arizona before extended CNN segments: "Bringing you the world, we're the home of CNN!" I wonder if that jingle has ever popped up on YouTube?2 points

A KNXV Fox 15 promo from Saturday, May 21, 1994. On Monday morning, they'd learn...they wouldn't be the Fox affiliate much longer. What's next on NewsChannel 3?2 points

65 years ago today, A station on channel 27 in Portland, Oregon made history as being the first UHF station that is still operating today. That station is KPTV, now on Channel 12. Here is a ID from KPTV from the 1980s2 points

Univision 41's own Merijoel Duran has a slew of clips of WXTV from the late 90s to today, mostly from their morning newscast. Here's a small sample: Somewhere between late 1998 to early 1999 (Just a guess) Clip from 1999 A clip on the day after 9/11 Another weather segment from 2001 One more, from 2008. Now for some bonus clips of her working at WNJU as a weather lady: One from around 1993 or 1994 ...and one from 19962 points

I'm guessing that ctmikect was someone I traded with a while back, as that was on one of my original "mix tapes" of newscast opens and promos... I think I have the entire KPNX newscast on VHS - hopefully it's already digitized. I've fixed the KSAZ open date... To say goodnight to everyone - remember to "Team Up with NewsChannel 3!" (and if I find anything new from Phoenix, it will have to wait until next week, as I've hit my weekly quota on Vimeo...) And back to our regularly scheduled newscasts from the 90s... Jim2 points

I'm working on finishing up that Northeastern Trip around Thanksgiving 1992. Still need to find Providence and the rest of Boston, but there still is more to come... (I apologize in advance if there are bits of newscasts - particularly in the middle - missing. Had I known then what I know now...) WGBC and WMDN are expanding their most recent effort to their CBS and NBC streams with new 6pm and 10pm shows, "Twin States News". A 9pm is already airing on Fox.1 point

Nice! I'm glad Ry's collection wasn't damaged by Harvey. By 1993, KBMT was using Spirit of Texas and the same graphics as WUAB: The next year, they were using Palmer News Package and a copy of KIII's open from the same time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=4YaGHvLLepU;m=6;s=24 And here's a real oddity: KBMT using The One & Only, but with their previous classic logo! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Zaqc7IG-Owo;m=15;s=301 point

This looks like a syndicated package to me. The KKTV one, though, is definitely a knockoff. The transitions are a dead giveaway.1 point

WLLZ-LP is being sold to WMNN-LD (MI News 26) owner Freelancer Television Broadcasting. http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=1766914 Do note that WLLZ is still analog. WMNN runs a 24 hour news channel, so this buy could mean an expansion of OTA coverage.1 point

Had he not acknowledged this as fact (the truth), I would have thought it was completely fake (particularly the part about the hammering). As strange as this sounds, at least Bill was more passionate and sincere in his blowup. Lawrence didn't seem believable at all.1 point

Three news stories from the same night: September 22, 1996, when ASU upset Nebraska en route to the Rose Bowl. All show some interesting graphics: Note that Geoff Morrell is wearing a polo with a new KSAZ logo. We're just weeks away from the Fox 10 relaunch... And we also got 7 minutes of Jude La Cava's sports show from that night, too. Note the transitional "Fox 10" logo... And a little chunk of KPHO too...1 point

Chuck filled in for Stefan at 4 today. Never saw that before tho it makes sense since he's no longer on at 11pm. Never saw Chuck anchor tiny or at 11am and probably never will see that happen.1 point

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Jeanine Ford was the 10pm co-anchor before Kirkpatrick took over the 10pm. And Jim, what kind of codec you looking for, I'll find it and send you the link and it's a free download.1 point

I'm searching for the package used by WNBC News 4New York from 1980-1987. I have collected themes for decades and grew up listening to this one. I've done everything I can to locate it. Even the composer himself claims it is lost to a poor filing system. I've managed to score a few clean cuts over the years but really want the entire package. Can anyone help?? Here's a link to the open.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuWbXt_Q6B81 point

New M&A. Weigel has made TWO more buys. They're acquiring L.A. "spectrum-less" station KAZA from Southern California License, LLC for $9M. They're also getting St. Louis religious station, KNLC from for $3.75M.1 point

How odd. Is 1.5 hours of news on Sunday night really necessary? I suppose it's probably cheaper than syndicated shows. Doesn't the network usually air sports things at that time?1 point

I believe I've identified a voiceover! I believe this is Tony Evans, a longtime Phoenix radio fixture (KRIZ, KOPA, KSLX, KYOT). He did voiceover work for KTVK in the 80s, we know that, and his voice is instantly familiar even today. I don't think he is the voice of the "Arizona's News People" opens that was once confused with Casey Kasem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=By_IGRhIhn4;t=177 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=cMbJcvW3nKg;t=321 point

Huh! I was wondering why they were actually on instead of network coverage... they actually started it with a mention of "extended coverage of Hurricane Irma" but they are clearly doing a normal newscast. Interesting.1 point
