It would require a pre-planned (not new/breaking), Chicago-focused story for that to happen, so if he does it, it's very rare. I can't say I've ever seen it.5 points

It doesn't even seem like they care to use Bill Zwecker much anymore.. Looks like much of Richard Roeper's "duties" were given to Jake Hamilton.. Including all the interviewing of movie actors. It also looks like Jake has been given much of the entertainment reporting too. Wouldn't surprise me if Bill is out when contract is up.4 points

Ha! I didn't even notice. I guess I'm already used to it. Here's Feder's write-up, and it makes no mention of a change in Diane's role. http://www.robertfeder.com/2017/11/07/new-weekend-anchor-comes-home-abc-7/3 points

In addition to some rare behind the scenes footage, this video has some commercials for WPTZ's 25th anniversary, with some old photos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=DNXXjtiBytk;m=5;s=162 points

They probably came to the conclusion that they didn't need 3 people doing entertainment-related stuff. Jake has always done features with more of an entertainment angle to them since he arrived @ WFLD, so I noticed no real difference. I also think they're in a bit of a flux @ GDC [ no Corey, Darlene, Richard and Kristen (maternity leave), loss of DNAInfo content, etc.. ] and could be preparing to make more changes leading into the new year.2 points

Former WNBC anchor Sibila Vargas has turned up in South Carolina, as morning anchor for WSPA, the Nexstar owned CBS affiliate. She had left NYC to move with her husband to North Carolina.2 points

Apparently its use at MCTV (at least for its CBC stations) lasted through 1991... ——— A KTTV tease from 1993: "We know you had a choice. Thanks for watching Arizona 5 News."2 points

They're more likely to have WFAA, KHOU, KENS, and KXAN as flagships (they're sisters in the same state and the first station listed is also in the same DMA Nexstar is headquartered in) than to have WXIA.1 point

KADN had CajunFirst.com, but when Nexstar dropped KADN for KLFY the CajunFirst.com domain was moved to KLFY. It directs you to KLFY.com though.1 point

It might sound like a morning show, but "Channel 12 News Today" was KTVH's early evening broadcast in 1989. The big story: George H.W. Bush's visit to Helena.1 point

The concept of this network sounds like it'll air the stuff Litton does, but almost none of it is from them (except for maybe one mandatory show on the weekend). Think the old days of the Discovery Channel and others.1 point

NewsActive3 has served up more vintage WABC, including stuff with Tom Snyder!:1 point

It was a 4pm newscast. Back then, KMGH aired local news at 4pm, CBS News at 5pm and syndicated programming between 5:30 and 7pm.1 point

Night and day in favor of 60. It's really rare to see vintage content in it...if you can find a way to do it, it makes a huge difference!1 point

KBJR did not have that jingle made for themselves (the news package is definitely a custom and you'll see why). There's an incomplete (old, one account probably deleted) YT comment thread in which it's sort of implied that the jingle might have been used in Nashville. WSMV did use "4 the Family" as a station slogan in the late 80s and early 90s, and they had a ton of image campaigns in this general period. (Seriously, the decade-plus of Hello usage masks a considerable amount of change at channel 4!) nashvilletv.org did have a copy of this, but the whole site has disappeared in recent months. On Internet Archive copies of the site, they list a 615 campaign from 1986 and a Florence Warner-sung Gari jingle from 1987. (The RealMedia files are no longer downloadable, unfortunately.) We do still have two of the later themes that used that campaign in some form. One is a resing of Turn To, again only used for image purposes: The other was The Diary, whose image song began airing in December 1992. This one did make it to the newscasts on January 4, 1993: (Also consult the WSMV-centric demo of Yours Truly from JAM — the line "We're 4 the Family, always here for you" is in that image song, too!)1 point
