  3. That guy should probably let another user upload things from his tape collection. He clearly has a messed up mind and needs psyciatric help.

  4. He gets no kudos from me. He was lucky enough to work for a GM who was just as ineffective as he was. Then when she bails, so does he. Couldn’t even wait until a new GM is named or, at the very least, a month before leaving. Quite the leader he is.

  13. Could Scripps stations eventually scale The Now to a half-hour if they want to? I do miss the local version on WEWS. (I think this could hurt them more than help them) That being said, The List, The Now, and Picker and Ben I feel have dragged down Scripps stations. They should not have been forced to take in programming that are ultimately not ratings-winners in the long run.

  14. Overall, Wells hasn't been heard on TV News since when KXII in Sherman/Ada switched to U-Phonix in 2015 and dropped Wells as the announcer and when I think of Wells I think of him as the announcer that was (in my John B. Wells voice) "Working in the Spirit of Texas."

  17. Some vintage Independent Network News, straight from WPIX in 1982 (though it's in rough shape). Presumably this is from the INN rebroadcast that followed the 10PM Action News?

  18. There's a point where flat is too flat. This is too flat. Their score graphic from like 2003 had more personality than this.

  19. I just tweeted them about how bad the out indicators are. Can't even see them clearly from my couch. You can't even intuitively tell that those little blue things on the side are supposed to indicate outs.

  22. Not doubting that everyone else’s ratings reports are “guesses”, but what makes yours any different? Sounds like a guess to me, unless you have proof to back it up.

  23. Yeah, I understand now why they kept it, because when watching some of the older opens, that news-ticker jingle that begins in the start of the theme, is super catchy and sounds just like the original Cool Hand Luke theme from the 70s and 80s and early 90s. So I get it now, but they can do a newer rendition of it no? But I guess it might be a theme to stay for the forseable future. I'm assuming WABC has access to the entire Eyewitness News Package. The theme that they use for the "Protect Our Children" is KABC's Morning Theme. WABC-TV "Protect our Children" Theme (Eyewitness News NG4) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=gVrypA0hlfs;t=20 KABC-TV "Morning' Theme (Eyewitness News NG4) So since these are the same themes, I would assume that WABC has the rights to the entirety of the ABC O&O Eyewitness News Package. So WABC could easilly change up their themes and experiment with the package if they wanted to, which is something I hope they do. WABC Opens from the 1970s to the Mid 2010s. And I think the reason now, the "a-ha" moment behind them keeping the current theme and jingle for all of these years, since 1999 is because of the reminiscence it brings to the classic themes. The catchy news-ticker sound at the start of the opening sequence. So I get it now, it pays homage to their early days.

  24. Also, Turko is a stage spelling. Here's a classic clip from KOA-TV, where he is "Michael Turcot." You can also see what is probably a toupée in a stand-up bridge and some me-roll. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=7TECePfo0oU;t=13

  25. Which is good because neither one of those Nexstar website names makes any sense, so I think that's one of the changes that we've seen out of Nexstar post-MG merger but still got a long way to go but, it's baby steps that we're taking

  29. I was told at the time that there was such a huge bidding war to acquire Wheel and Jeopardy and WDJT over paid so much that advertising doesn't even come close to the cost for the syndication rights even with WDJT being in 1st place from 6-7pm since getting those shows. It's very likely TMJ was/is turning a profit in the 630 half hour when they have done local news even though its been 3rd or 4th.(in the fall/winter Packers programming makes a lot of money for TMJ). Anyways its a moot point now, Scripps doesn't spend money on outside syndication. I believe just WTMJ and WGBA so far.

  31. I keep forgetting to upload these, but I did a Scripps survey months ago, they were testing talent for a new version of The Now. EDIT: I can't upload the other files, somehow they are too big. Pretty much they were testing a couple other talent. Pretty much more greenscreen ala The List.

  33. Scripps is dying... that in and of itself is causing them to cut like mad to save the ship... new graphics, additional resources to stations... it’s all too expensive for them now and everything is getting to the point of being too far gone...

  34. They'll probably all get it now that they're cutting back on the local angle, which is the only thing the local stations could have fought corporate about. Can't really argue "we don't have the resources to produce this" when all you're doing is inserting cut-ins. I get the hunch this is a response to "Daily Blast Live".
