  2. WTVG has had those graphcs since the summer, at the very least. Vid courtesy of Daniel Garcia Media from YT.

  3. As Weeters would say: "It's a perfect logo for an app."

  4. Yes, that is correct. NBCSN is doing a good job with these new graphics. However, what's very bad is NBC Sports Philadelphia is completely bascura with their ticker.. SMH.

  5. Yeah, It's the NBC Sports ticker. They adapt it to focus on whatever sport is being presented live, but then during regular studio shows, it runs through all sports.

  6. Who would be acceptable to be seen "hanging out" with? Milo probably takes 500 selfies a day, with all types of people. Would you approve if it was Rachael Maddow? Most tv types who spend all day in the field are gonna have photos and selfies from all kinds of newsworthy folks. I'm gonna side with Ellen on this one. https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2019/10/08/ellen-degeneres-george-bush-times-shes-addressed-critics/3906283002/ ...and just "who" determines credibility of a news organization? Some group of pointy bearded types? Or does the viewer decide?

  7. I Saw on FTVLive this morning FTVLive BNC that some dude named J.C. Watts Jr. & his business partner Bob Brillante are starting the "Black News Channel" to be targeted at young African Americans, and it is to launch this fall on Dish Network, Comcast & Charter. I wonder if this will get off the ground or not? something tells me this is going to fail, but then again if NewsNet can do it why can't these folks. They have been planning for this since May 2017. Their website say the headquarters & master control are going to be located in Tallahassee, FL, with bureaus in Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York City, L.A., Chicago & New Orleans. Any one else think this logo kind of looks like Master Card's logo? www.blacknewschannel.com

  8. You've just rebranded your station. It's an expensive rebrand, too: new logo, new set, new anchors, new call letters. But your "Recorded Earlier" late news repeat open...hasn't changed in about two years. With that important comment, I present to you...KNSD in October 1988:

  9. So if you haven't noticed, it's been 60 years since RTP's flagship newscast "Telejornal" and to honor it, they have a new intro and a modified theme song of their newscast as well.

  10. Not sure if this deserves its own thread, but this graphics package has (for better or for worse) been immortalized on network TV thanks to NBC's Bluff City Law, which has so far used WMC's set, live van, mic flags, and, of course, graphics as part of the show. The only thing not included... actual station talent. To echo one of the tweets below, it's impressive how much effort was put in to make the scenes feel like they really came from WMC. Although I can't say I care at all for the show's use of Calibri over the supplied blank lower third. (Can't believe I'd ever think the Helvetica looks better!) I'm sure better screengrabs can be taken from the show if streamed live on nbc.com, I just haven't had the time to watch it. (Frankly, this interests me more than the show itself, haha) https://twitter.com/JaredJayBBoyd/status/1179027816043692033 https://twitter.com/kendall_downing/status/1178859750307565570 https://twitter.com/MemphoNewsLady/status/1184973449904754689

  11. Funny you bring that up (and not just because that happens to be my channel ) Not sure if this is a downgrade or lateral move for Rob.

  13. A refreshed opener of BBC's Reporting Scotland, with a new theme and the BBC Reith typeface that was adopted a couple of months ago. Another news program who got a makeover is RTP's Telejornal, that celebrated its 60th anniversary less than 2 weeks ago. The theme was re-recorded by a Lisbon orchestra for this special occasion. One Network News from April 23, 1994, with Tom Bradley and April Ieremia (who anchored sports). The top story was the death of Richard Nixon. Finally, Gordon Sawyer presents Les Sports, Radio-Canada's national sportscast in March 1993. The program used the WNYW theme composed by Edd Kalehoff. I don't know why, but SRC's English counterpart CBC never had a sportscast after The National.

  14. Looks like WTVG 13ABC in Toledo also picked up the latest Gray Tv Graphics Package. Seems to be a more cobalt blue than other Former-Raycom stations are getting. Also the open is more like what WMC has than the others have been getting.

  15. That was covered earlier. The RSNs as a whole abandoned using a ticker. Don't know why but they did.

  16. The new ticker has shown up during NHL and NASCAR coverage. Its a variation of the new SNF ticker.

  17. The old 5 was a bit out of date, but the new logo looks so painfully generic it could be in a movie.

  18. I may be a little late with this but NBCSN updated some of their graphics for Premier League. Saw some updates this past weekend including the Sports ticker.

  19. The question I have is if what the score was for the Cowboys-Eagles game around 9pm. If it was looking like a blowout (which it was), KXAS should've went to weather fully or at least attempted a split-screen on 5.1.

  20. I heard the open of the broadcasts, and it honestly sounds like a 21st century knockoff of 'Roundball Rock.' That doesn't mean I dislike it, but it's definitely got that vibe.

  21. At least WFAA was on the ball Sunday night as they were quick to get on the air and stay on it (along with KDFW). KTVT was late and less active, which was problematic for a situation with a confirmed large tornado on the ground (would be okay if it was radar indicated), but KXAS definitely took a huge reputation hit there. My letter grades of the coverage: KDFW: A KTVT: C- KXAS: F WFAA: A-

  22. If Norah gets the boot, who do you think should anchor the CBS Evening News? IMO, I would pick... Shepard Smith.

  23. If Chad were smart, he would make Michelle permanent weekday AMs - leave Shirleen at Noon. She should have had the position from the get-go, as there is real chemistry between Michelle and Ken, and the morning show numbers have been up since she went on leave. Shirleen is a great newsreader - but her interactions with others just seem forced.

  25. More Jeff Zucker News: You can't have it your way slezzeball. There are multiple reports that Jeff Zucker was trying to wheel in Stephanie Ruhle out of MSNBC- Rock Center to Hudson Yards. Last checked: Stephanie is still with MSNBC and made the right choice to NOT head over to CNN. Source: FTV https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2019/10/18/jeff-zucker-tried-to-poach-msnbc-talent

  27. — James O'Keefe (@JamesOKeefeIII) October 14, 2019 Ahhh... Project Veritas... they of editing videos together out of context and calling it legitimate journalism? James O'Keefe is a con artist political activist with an axe to grind... If you are gonna quote things... use some actual sources and not some guy with a website and a desire to see an agenda fulfilled... thanks.

  29. That's weird. NBCS Chicago has used theirs occasionally for breaking news and programming announcements, even after dumping it for scores and headlines. No reason why it should be completely scrubbed from the system, with THAT being the alternative.

  32. Hell hath frozen over. The weekend teams have promos! The evening crew shot theirs today, while the weekend anchors have had one airing for more than week, though that might be redone once Greg Dutra starts at the end of the month.

  33. Former WFAA health reporter Janet St. James was interviewed on the Facebook video podcast "Morning After with Ron & Alexa" recently (Ron and Alexa are Ron Corning and Alexa Conomos, themselves former WFAA anchors). St. James now has metastatic breast cancer, diagnosed after taking a back-office position with a local Dallas hospital. She had worked at WFAA for 19 years. St. James is remarkably open and positive, despite her prognosis. Of course, my very best to Janet and her family. https://www.facebook.com/100000005091243/posts/2909584935718314/
