  1. Is it just me or is the use of the icons just tacky and unnecessary.

  2. He was singlehandedly responsible, in the East at least, for CBS affiliates almost always dominating the noon hour because of the lead-in he provided. I’d say it fits here.

  3. RIP Bob! I was hoping he --and Betty White--- would've made 100!

  5. Wondering how TPIR will commemorate this... They've moved from "The Bob Barker Studio", does the new studio get dubbed the same? Do they go the "Bob Barker Stage" route like Jeopardy did? I feel like Fremantle/CBS can't not do something here...

  6. Feels like a mix of elements of the SNF look with the aesthetic of the old graphics (particularly the gloss and the blue-grey color from before).

  7. Whenever I was sick at home during my elementary and middle school years, The Price is Right was one of my favorite shows to watch. With his natural charisma, sharp wit, electric personality and almost-instant icon status, he was one of the reasons (if not the main reason) I watched and why the show was (and still is) an enduring hit of American television and touchstone of American popular culture. He (like Betty White) at 99 lived a long, beautiful life that will forever live on through his incredible career, the show and both of their enduring legacies. Condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

  8. This is weird, because it hasn’t been clarified anywhere else at the moment. This is, however, a good plan for the 2 stations, as KOCB could need the refresh, because it’s only using the brand in station IDs for the station (Trust me, I’ve been on trips and I’ve stopped in the OKC area.). KAUT, on the other hand, airs Storage Wars and Pawn Stars in the morning and early afternoon, etc.

  9. I don't like the animated background mixed with the animated icons.. should be one or the other.. although I do like that they didn't put the icons tiny in the corner like they do at the other updated stations

  10. My earlier observation carries even more weight now, ‘cause (like with listings for WPNT showing it as the replacement CW outlet in Pittsburgh) listings for both KOCB and KAUT are now showing The CW moving to KAUT and KOCB reverting to an independent (for the first time since it became OKC’s original UPN affiliate in January 1995) on the 1st. If the case, Family Law would be the first CW show to air on KAUT, while KOCB will fill prime time with syndicated shows Monday–Saturday (The Simpsons (double run), Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers weeknights, and Family Feud (double run) and TMZ Weekend Saturdays) and movies on Sundays. KOCB has also changed its Facebook profile pic (and changed the handle from @CWOKC to @KOCBOKC)… Before: After: So, Sinclair will lose some CW affiliations to Nexstar-run stations in markets where they each operate non-Big Four stations under the yet-announced agreement, but be given the affiliation on WPNT to compensate.

  11. New graphics for NBC's Notre Dame (and I assume B1G) broadcasts. Looks like an evolution of the SNF look. Same font used.

  12. Also they still need to address the elephant in the room that is the LIV pre-emptions for Tegna, and I'm sure KUSI is a T-Rex when it comes to their KFMB-DT2 affiliation. Without that settled, a last-second affiliation with WGTA or WATC (shades of KNLC!) or the sub farms looks more and more likely, because neither Tegna or Gray are giving up their stations primetime without Nexstar compromising on their end. And there's still a very distant possibility of horse-trading WUPA for something and it still being with CW on the 1st.

  13. Not TV news, but still important enough for this topic: Bob Barker has passed away at 99 years old.

  14. If watl’ prime time news block is broken up for CW then I could see WPCH adding an hour at 8pm to take advantage of having no competition.

  15. Hopefully! I love that they've kept the same theme (and largely retained ALOT of talent) over the past twenty-odd years. If they ever update the theme, I'd like them to use some rendition of Cool Hand Luke again. I wish it had stuck around like WPVI's Action News theme.

  16. WATL getting the CW would bring an end to its WXIA primetime newscasts from 8-11, while WUPA is not set up to do a similar thing, much like their other sister stations are gearing up to do. Atlanta will be an interesting market to watch, for sure. CBS still owning a station with little means of expansion while still keeping an affiliation with WANF and losing an equivalent news effort IF WATL goes CW.

  17. All the other ABC stations have new graphics. Anyone know what the holdup is at WABC?

  18. Wow, so great to see them starting to implement the new graphics. We'll see if it makes it onto the rest of the news by the Fall book (that would be my guess). Or perhaps when the new 10am debuts. Also, caught this side by side via their website.

  20. A legend for sure. Spent many mornings during the summer, before college classes, even during work watching TPIR during the Barker era (He was still hosting during one of my old TV jobs). This brings back the memory of 10TV's premiere of NightBeat. More infamously known for the surprise appearance of wanted fugitive Donna Osborne who later turned herself into authorities after appearing on the show, Rod Roddy's passing was the same night and can be seen in the headlines pre-open. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyS9ouDaO0o

  22. I'm sorry to hear about this. He did lead a remarkable era of the station's history so my best wishes to him. Hopefully, he can recover and get back to normal ASAP.

  23. KTRK ABC 13 Houston has began using the new graphics in all of their promos...Could the total package be debuting soon...Hopefully! I'm actually a big fan of the new package as I've seen on WLS ABC 7 in Chicago.
