I mean, it is summer. Aren’t numbers expected to be down? Seems like an unfair comparison.
-
I mean, let’s be real, they are on anchor overload anyway.

So far this week at noon: Monday: Jeanette Reyes & Nydia Han Tuesday: Maggie Kent & Alicia Vitarelli Wednesday: Gray Hall & Alicia Vitarelli Thursday: Matt O’Donnell & Alicia Vitarelli Friday: Jeanette Reyes & Alicia Vitarelli Based on a few years ago when Shirleen left (date similar to Monica’s leaving), I expect WPVI to announce Monica’s replacement at 5pm in September, the week of September 16-21 if I had to guess. Odds on favorite is Sarah Bloomquist, whose been the primary fill-in for the vacant slot. The bigger question is who takes Sarah’s spot on weekend evenings: Christie Ileto, Jeanette Reyes, Maggie Kent, Alicia Vitarelli (with someone else filling in for her for the feature reports at 4pm Fridays), or does Nydia Han get promoted with one of the other ladies taking Nydia’s spot on weekend mornings instead.

TV Passport’s TV schedule for the station.

Appears Dr. Oz moving from 4pm to 3pm, and Better Connecticut, which is currently at 3pm and an hour long, is moving to 4pm and being sliced in half to make way for the new 4:30 newscast.
-
Why would it be holdover til next week? If that was the case why not keep the old name until next week. Also, did you mean to say “isn’t that bad”?
-
They could both come back as half hour soaps.

Another first today for Action News. Today (a weekday) the 6pm has two co-anchors anchoring, Rick and Sharrie, in for Jim. The circumstances are not normal as a breaking news situation is ongoing. The two anchored the 4pm and 5pm as well. Sarah had previewed the 5pm news around 4:35pm, but the breaking news began before 5pm, and it probably made more sense to keep Rick and Sharrie in the anchor chairs with Sarah providing updates from the newsroom instead of having Sarah and Sharrie swap spots at the top of the hour.

Erica seems to bounce around quite a bit. From WPVI to WUSA to WNBC. Short term solution would be to have Dave handle weekend evenings plus his shift M-W, and Maria (11am) and Janice (4pm) could handle Th-F.

Actually, most Pacific stations I believe air Y&R at 11:30am.

This week in fill-ins: Last Sunday Evening: Alicia subbed for Walter alongside Sarah. 12NOON: Sarah was solo on Monday. Alicia filled in for Rick alongside Sarah at noon Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Jeanette Reyes and Christie Ileto co-anchored on Friday at noon. 5PM: Sarah sat alongside Rick at 5pm Monday through Thursday. Friday Christie Ileto co-anchored. 6PM/11PM: Rick filled in for Jim on Mon., Tues., Wed., Fri., but Thursday Sharrie and Brian split the duties. Saturday evening: Nydia filled in for Walter. Sunday morning/noon: Christie filled in for Nydia. Sunday evening: Alicia (who was off from her 4pm feature anchor position in which Christie subbed for her) is filling in for Sarah alongside Walter.

Tonight another first. Walter, who solo anchors all of the Saturday evening newscasts, is off and both Sarah Bloomquist and Christie Ileto are co-anchoring. Perhaps a sign of the future? Christie’s been subbing a lot lately. I could see her taking Sarah’s spot on Sunday evenings alongside Walter and adding Saturday evenings alongside Walter to her duties, finally bringing a co-anchor to Saturday evenings. That would allow Sarah to anchor M-F at noon and add the 5pm to her duties. Oddly, during noon this week, Rick and Sarah were off Wednesday, and Matt and Alicia subbed. Thursday, Rick was off, and Alicia subbed alongside Sarah. Friday, Sarah was off, and Christie Ileto subbed alongside Rick. It’s odd as 95% of the time at noon when one co-anchor is off the other usually anchors solo.

Just short of two months, and still no word on Monica’s replacement. Sarah has been the most frequent fill-in, whenever she’s been on at noon she has also anchored at 5pm, except recently. Oddly, this week (also last Thursday July 4), Sarah was on at noon, but not at 5pm. Monday she filled in for Alicia at 4pm, but Sharrie was on at 5pm. Today (Tuesday) Sarah was out in the field reporting at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm with Sharrie on again at 5pm. UPDATE: Sarah was on with Rick at 5pm Wednesday. Makes me wonder if they are holding the spot for an outsider or if they are just testing different pairings. Jeanette seems to work well with Walter on weekends, as does Christie.

Last week there was a day Lauren was on with Diana at noon, and Sam was doing weather.

I could be wrong, but WCAU has Vai before he comes on the air, and then Lucy after Vai takes over in the co-anchor chair. In the 4pm and 5pm Jim usually fills that role (occasionally Keith at 4pm and Jackie at 5pm. WNBC used to have Karry Barrett handling that in the mornings before she left.

I’m not trying to be rude. I’m pointing out that your posts are repetitive, not just here (see all your WCBS and WNBC weather related posts). It doesn’t seem to be accidental (1 minute apart would be accidental). Seems as the moderators are asleep at the job, as they’ve scolded me and others for far less offenses in the past. As too David, what I meant is for Mike to replace David if David were to move to Bill’s role after he retires.
-
Do you realize that you posted the same exact thing about 14 hours apart. Your repetitiveness all over the NY boards is becoming annoying. As to the topic at hand, I actually would like to see Mike either take over for Bill or David. Mike’s young and has plenty of experience, and is great at what he does. I like Joe, but like Sandra, he’s better on weekends and as a weekday fill-in. His personality just doesn’t scream “lead anchor” material.

I’m sure Matt Peterson will fill her spot as he is on staff as a fill-in. I wonder if Chelsea is going to one of the other O&Os.
-
Surprised they flew someone from KGO in to fill in. Could’ve just had a WPVI person drive in.
-
Christie Illeto is in tonight with Walter.

I think it's safe to say if WPVI is going with an in-house candidate for the 5pm co-anchor chair, it's Sarah's to lose. She's filled in 7 of the 10 days so far, with all three of the other days coming on days Sarah was off (two of them during the Memorial Day weekend, and 2 of the 3 days she was off Sharrie filled in). She obviously has chemistry with Rick and is already his Noon co-anchor. This past weekend saw Jeanette Reyes filling in for Sarah next to Walter on Sunday evening. I'm sure they'll continue to test others, like Christie Illeto, next to Walter in the coming weekends. I wonder how long they will wait before making anything official.

The Fox 29 News/Good Day Philadelphia Thread
TVNewsLover replied to Jess's topic in Philadelphia News
I actually am excited about the new anchors and think they will work out great. Although perhaps they should hire a second anchor team in the future for evenings. I just hope that WTXF tweaks the presentation a bit. -
Valid point. I guess what I was getting at was it bothered Scott enough to complain about it, so why didn’t it bother him enough to leave? And now he’s bring it up again. Megyn and Ann, as far as we know, might’ve been aware of it, but never complained about and pretty much minded their own business. I know a lot of people here are big fans of his, but at the end of the day, the general television viewing public never really warmed to his presentation. Disrespectful for him to say this while he’s still employed by them. Still sounds like sour grapes to me.

Weekday weather crew in this weekend. Cecily did Saturday night, David Murphy did Sunday Morning, and Adam’s doing Sunday night. As for 5pm fill-ins: Friday (5/24) Sharrie and Sarah were both off, so Rick soloed at noon, Christie filled in at 4, and Alicia filled in at 5. Monday (5/27) Brian and Sharrie did all the evening broadcasts. Thursday (5/23), Tuesday (5/28) and Wednesday (5/29) Sarah anchored with Rick at 5pm. Sarah was off Thursday (5/30), so Rock soloed at noon and Sharrie filled in at 5pm. Friday (5/31) Sarah soloed at noon, Rick and Sarah anchored at 4pm and 5pm. Rick will likely be doing the 10pm solo. Saturday (6/1) Sarah subbed for Walter. Sunday (6/2) Jeanette Reyes subbed for Sarah alongside Walter. Monday (6/3), Tuesday (6/4), and Wednesday (6/5) Sarah filled in at 5pm.

Seems a little suspicious. First, wasn’t it his show, so wouldn’t he have had oversight on such matters. Second, why would you stay at the company after all this? Seems like he’s making up excuses for his failure as an anchor of the CBS EN.
