  1. CBS 3 broke into Family Feud at around 3:10pm for a news conference from the NTSB about the emergency plane landing. The odd part about this is Jim Donovan was anchoring the coverage. Makes me wonder when do Ukee and Jessica come in? It makes no sense that the morning crew should be there that late (I would think 1:30pm would be the cutoff). Goes to show how lean they are on anchor talent.
  2. Long day for Rick today. He anchored at noon, 5pm, 6pm, and 11pm.
  3. Monica Malpass anchoring at noon today solo. With Rick and Sarah off, Matt, Tamela, Alicia, Jeanette, Gray, Nydia, and Walter must’ve all been unavailable.
  4. Maybe medically related. I know she battled cancer in the past. Hopefully all is okay.
  5. Really liked him. That’s a huge loss for the station, as they lost Adam Kuperstein not too long ago. Apparently Roxanne Vargas is his replacement in the morning. Not sure about 11am. Not a fan of the move. Also leaves weekend evening and mornings now vacant for WTVJ. Eric’s moving to California. You know, there is a morning anchor position open at KNBC.
  6. I’m not sure I see Michelle moving to weekdays anytime soon. Disney is in a trimming phase right now. Even if one of Diana, Liz, or Sade were to leave, they prolly will reshuffle the other two plus David and Bill’s shows to cover the vacancy.
  7. Last year when WCAU was down to three meteorologists and of the three one was on vacation and a second was sick, they pulled in WRC’s Doug Kammerer and WNBC’s Dave Price to fill in.
  8. Alicia Vitarelli filling in for Sarah at noon today.
  9. Really? I'm surprised you think so. Her and Rick often joke on the noon show, and I'd say their chemistry is on par with Rick and Monica's, if not better. She is more serious on Sunday nights when she's co-anchoring with Walter. Speaking of Walter, I wonder if the long term plan is for him to anchor 5pm & 10pm solo on Saturdays (in addition to 6pm & 11pm). I feel like he needs a co-anchor especially for the hour long newscasts. They should either move Sarah to weekend evenings full time and have Monica or Alicia take her spot on the noon show. Or they could have Alicia work Tuesday-Saturday, handling the Friday noon show along with Saturday evenings (Nydia or Sarah could handle her Monday 4pm features anchor role).
  10. When did we stop being friends? Friends are allowed to disagree. :p
  11. I thought you were being judgmental of me. I meant it in the sense of who are you to judge me if you don’t know me. Relax, it meant nothing more. Guess you misunderstood me just like I misunderstood you.
  12. Oh. Oops.
  13. No need to get personal just because we disagree. You don’t know me.
  14. Rick aired snow updates at the top of the 11am hour alone. Sarah and Rick co-anchored at noon. At 1pm they are continuing with snow coverage, but with Rick and Alicia. I suspect Sarah’s going out on the road to report, but why even bring her in if that’s the case to anchor noon. Why not have Alicia anchor instead. I think Sarah is a great, if not the best reporter they have. However, she is underutilized as an anchor. She should be filling in regularly at 4pm and 5pm.
  15. ESPN is supposed to be for sports programming. E! Is supposed to be for entertainment programming. ABC, NBC, and CBS News are supposed to cover all/general news. So you’re example doesn’t really make sense. I don’t see how it’s any different than reporting from the scene of any other major story. I wasn’t looking to get my news from the red carpet. However, I don’t mind it as actual news is what was presented. What’s it matter what the backdrop is as long is the content is good? Isn’t good news (Oscars) still considered news? Or are we only supposed to report from scenes of tragedies? As to why they’ve never done it before, I believe they may have skipped WNT on Oscar Sunday entirely in years past. This year they aired it earlier, at 4:30 ET. If we can’t have a thoughtful and respectful discussion, then maybe it is better you walk away from it.
  16. Well, if you want to get technical, the #MeToo movement is news and I’m sure there was stuff to report. The Oscars are news. Since when is only the bad things like murders, robberies, and bombings considered news? There is a such thing as good news. Again I will point to the content of the show, which covered all the headlines.
  17. Seems like a bit of an overreaction on your part. Tammie seems to be solid everytime I watch her. On a separate note, since our friends in DC at WRC stole Doug Kammerer and Sheena Parveen from us, can we get either Chris Lawrence, Adam Tuss (Philly native), or David Culver from them to fill the weekend evening co-anchor slot. I mean, they are on anchor overload at WRC anyway.
  18. They reported from the scene of a major event. What’s the big deal? If the whole newscast was about the Oscars, then I’d be pissed. But as long as they reported all the news stories of the day, what’s the big deal about the backdrop. I don’t understand why this is a big deal.
  19. So the law in your first post was they can’t work more than 5 days. But the law seems to have changed in the short time to your second post, which now says you can work 6 days. I understand there are labor laws that exists, but this is obviously made up stuff by you. Also, why is it that you only criticize NBC properties, specifically NN and Today?
  20. I’m surprised they sent Kate Snow over. Would have made sense to have kept her here in case of breaking news like this.
  21. Sounds like no replacement is needed for Joanne Purtan. I'm guessing they'll go outside to hire Stephen's replacement. NEWGUY/Carolyn - 4/6/7/11 Dave/Glenda - 5/10 Malcolm/Alicia - Mornings/Noon
  22. What's the anchor line-up look like now?
  23. Seems like they can promote from within. Pair Deborah Weiner with Stan Stovall, and pair Andre Hepkins with Lisa Robinson. Stan & Deborah can do 5&11, while Andre & Lisa handle 6&10, and morning team of Jason & Mindy can handle noon. Or Stan & Deborah can handle 6/10/11, while Andre & Lisa handle noon/5.
  24. Would make sense for Ben to to add 11-1 once Steve retires. I don’t see Dina retiring anytime soon though. I don’t get why they don’t split the morning show in half either, 4-7 and 7-10. And I will echo Ben not being A team material (or B team for that matter).
  25. Alicia is on again today Friday at noon filling in for Sarah alongside Rick. Curious to see who will co-anchor tomorrow Saturday with Walter at 5pm.
