Weekend weather people used to do the entire weekend back to as late as the 90s. There are plenty of fill-in options for them with 5 full-time meteoroligists. No need for a part-timer. Disagree on the demotion part. He is still on weekday afternoons/evenings. Additionally, the 10 PM is on another channel. You say you’re adding another show to Cecily, but she’s got the least amount of airtime currently: Cecily: 1.5 daily, 7.5 weekly Adam: 2.5 daily, 12.5 weekly Karen: 4.0 daily, 20.0 weekly Brittany: 3.5 daily, 7.0 weekly (that does not include the average 3 noon shows she does which would make it 10.0 hours weekly) Chris: 4.0/4.5 daily, 8.5 weekly (that does not include the average 2 noon shows he does which would make it 10.5 hours weekly) Still makes more sense to have the weekend people split the noon shift if they don’t wanna add Adam there, as opposed to adding a sixth person. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Not sure it would be a demotion. He’d still be second in command and Cecily’s primary fill-in. Also, he’s got little kids so I’m sure he’d appreciate being home earlier.

Adam to noon makes most sense, so he’d be on noon, 4pm, 5:30pm, with Cecily on 5pm, 6pm, 10pm, 11pm. I could see Adam and Cecily swapping the 5:30pm and 6pm. Alternatively, it should otherwise be a rotation between Brittney and Payton.

Wonder if this was already in the works months ago and that’s why they hired Payton Domschke, to eventually take his place. 6abc seems to hire people for spots ahead of the vacancy.

I am not sure why people keep citing frequent preemptions because of the Florida Panthers deal. Most games start at 7 PM and are over either right at 10 PM or slightly before. So there should be a few preemptions if any at all.

Sounds like Jim wants to be the main anchor but not come in at night. Not a fan of this setup. They should’ve given either the 6 or the noon to Jim & Melanie. Seems like the morning crew does 5 hours plus Jaciel at noon, and Rob and Wendy 2.5 hours, while Jim & Melanie just an hour. Not sure why they have a separate anchor at 8pm either. Just seems like it’s not the best use of your resources.

Trish Hartman co-anchored all the Saturday evening newscasts with Walter yesterday. Wonder if they are testing pairs with him to give him a permanent co-anchor or if this was a one off.

He was only doing the 5pm. Janice handled the 6 and 11.

It does mention it would be a 2 hr extension of the current show which will continue to air on NFL Network. So the earliest it could run on the affiliates is 10am-12noon, so it’s not out of the question for it to be on after Good Day.

They only play each other once. The rest are for their remaining home games against other teams. They are not eligible for their championship game.

Seems so as Pedro was on at 6 by himself. As much as I admire Bill and as hard of a worker as he is, he should’ve not been brought in, as he was too close to the story, and it showed. On Saturday they were doing a story on how Trump was using the situation to fundraise, and Bill added in his own commentary. And I say this as someone who is not a fan of Trump. Brittany did Sat AM and Lee did Sat PM. Jeff did AM and PM on Sunday. I’m assuming it’s because Dani and Jeff did a lot of heavy lifting during the week while Lee and Brittany were covering the eclipse, and those two got a break when they returned. They really should bring in another meteorologist full time - perhaps Raegan Medgie. Lee - 5,6,11 Jeff - Noon, 4 Brittany - Mornings, 10am Dani - Weekend Evenings Raegan - Weekend Mornings Sam could continue as a features anchor on weekday mornings and 10am as his schedule permits and do some of the weather hits.

It seems that Sam makes his own schedule. On another note, Bill and Pedro co-anchored Saturday at 11pm with Lee doing weather.

Curious if 6 just plans on using rotating anchors for Saturday mornings and keeping Nydia solo on Sunday mornings. It’s been just over two years since Gray was promoted to 10pm.

Not sure when this happened, but Alyana Gomez’s name is now part of the morning (4am-7am) open. I assume she’s taking on a “feature anchor” type role.

None of those places have weekday openings. WABC has not replaced Sandra on weekends, and I’m not convinced they’re going to. I’m probably in the minority here, but what has she done in all those years to move the needle at WCBS? She hasn’t always seemed like the easiest to work with. I’m fairly confident her anchoring days are done. Regardless of my thoughts on her, she’s had a long career with the same employer and many accomplishments, she should enjoy retirement. No matter how great of a career, there’s no need for people to be anchoring into their 80s (I’m looking at you Chuck).
