1. Odd that they’re buying back in Salt Lake. They’d be crazy to pull it. KCRA is such a strong affiliate and KSL was too.
2. Looking at their website I’d imagine the bulk of their revenue comes from advertising and transmission fees (I’d imagine some of the smaller ones pay for carriage or are bartered) on their six diginets: 26.1 - MI News 26 - 16:9 720p 26.2 - Antenna TV 26 - 4:3 480i 26.3 - LAFF 26 - 4:3 480i 26.4 - Escape 26 - 4:3 480i 26.5 - Grit 26 - 4:3 480i 26.6 - Light TV - 4:3 480i 26.7 - Buzzr 26 - 4:3 480i Then they have a LP analog station branded as MI TV 12. During the day it airs CoZi and clears the two hours of MyNetwork programming. They claim their station: Which of course doesn’t meant that all 137,600 people are watching. Never the less it is admirable that this young man has made this relatively successful. I don’t mean to be critical but rather I’m thinking of the practicality of this venture. I hope they do well.
3. Their articles are fairly simple as well. Just look at this “report”. The reporter says it’s very busy and other things but they show none of that. At the very least put some b-roll footage of the pets while the audio interview continues.
4. If I could like I would so you get a (maybe I’ll keep a chart on how many each person gets and they get a reward*) . But KAAP has a decent coverage area and like you said it’s tall. About 3900 feet above sea level. *like a get out of the shark tank and back into the ocean card. But I’m sorry Eat you’ve maxed out at the number of times you can use it - 40.
5. Oh this week something interesting is happening at BAL. The anchors Stan and Deborah at WBAL are doing the 6pm show but not the 11pm. At first on Monday I thought it may have been a promo shoot with Lester who was anchoring from DC. The only thing I can think of is that they’re handling the station holiday show - something I’ve seen their CSD post about. I believe earlier in the thread @TVNewsLover mentioned they wanted Rick Ritter to replace replace Jessica Kartalija at the WJZ anchor desk. Well about two weeks ago it was made official - but it was kind of obvious when he started anchoring at the beginning of the November book.
6. A assignment desk editor at WTVJ/WSCV who followed me on Instagram and I followed back showed that there was a fire alarm issue earlier this morning (assuming 4AM ish due to Instagram Stories timestamp of 8 hours ago) and then five hours ago so around 7 or 8 AM they had to evacuate and call the fire department as smoke filled the newsroom. The fire department declared it clear but at that time they couldn’t go back in as the newsroom needed to be vented more.
7. I don’t think they do. However when they rolled out the flags in the lower third an email posted on FTVLive said it would be done remotely. That being said someone here said they were just given the Adobe Premiere files and to make it work.
8. Okay, so is it a fixed host schedule for each feed? How do they get singers, actors, reality hosts, and comedians to come on their show unless it’s a link to Denver. I don’t see TEGNA paying the cost of flying someone in for an interview. However I could see comedians and maybe some lesser known bands coming in when they’re in town looking for exposure.
9. Out of curiosity is DBL a show where the panelists are there for every feed or are they alternated? And are the same topics discussed/covered in each feed or is it unique.
10. I thought you were being sarcastic with resident young person. But I looked at his Instagram and he only graduated from Northwestern in 2017.
11. Exactly. CNN may not be willing to provide it. ABC Newsource I seem to recall had a subscription function for a while but they may not want it appearing on CBS, NBC or Fox affiliates.
12. Problem with KDFW is that it appears it is is up against by three streets and looks like their main lot is across a Patterson Street from the station. So something that appears in the street but off the property could still cause alarm. The only thing they could do security wise is put up bollards on the sidewalks but they may not be able to do it as the sidewalks are likely government property.
13. From what I heard she lives weekdays in NY.
14.
You can catch a "shuttle" (DC-NYC) every half hour, but it's still flying, and flying anywhere is a pain in the ass...even for network snooty's. So overly inflated ego's want the "private" company owned shuttle (ie:private jet) when they don't or can't make the regular shuttle. Bop between DC and NYC daily or even a few times a week and it takes a toll on anyone. I sure as hell wouldn't do that trip nowadays, because flying anywhere is a giant pain in the ass. Even for the short hop to DC it still sucks worse when you get delayed and say to yourself... "This flight used to take an hour before 9-11" Take my advice...take the train.

@Eat News is right — train from NYC to DC is cheaper, more comfortable and ends up getting you there in the same amount of time of flying once you factor in traveling to/from out of the way airports, security line, wait time to board, etc.
Norah O’Donnel splits her time and frequently posts her races to get to the Delta Shuttle to fly to DC with her kids in tow. Her husbands a successful resteraunteur who has three restaurants in the DC area and one at Dulles.
15. She appeared recently promoting PBS’s Great American Read, and she’s done it in the past for the show. She may not be on the rolls anymore but she may be coming back - kind of like Jane Pauley did but not in a regular segment.
16. When you are getting paid over $5 million flying back and forth it shouldn’t be a big deal. Carson is only out the days The Voice is live - Monday and Tuesday. He take the red eye out for a Wednesday’s show. I’m sure if they wanted him to appear live they’d have him in the studios in LA. During the live episodes of American Idol did Ryan Seacrest fly back and forth each night or a similar arrangement like Carson? Edit: Earlier in this thread someone mentioned the commute Peter Alexander will have up to NYC. First let me say this, I once asked a MSNBC contributor how they get to NYC after appear on Morning Joe and a show shortly after 1PM in NYC. They mostly fly up to JFK from DCA as it’s flight under 1 hour. So for Peter I imagine he will do the same on Friday - attend a show production meeting via conference call, fly up in the afternoon, spend a night in the plushy hotel the guests stay at, do the show on Saturday and head back home around noon. José Diaz-Balart likely does the same by flying out Noticiero Telemundo, and spend the days in production meetings, do NN and I’m not sure if he flys out Saturday night or Sunday.
17. It occurs during The Voice seasons. Normally the someone else fills in. But maybe this is a sign they’re going to get rid of it. As for the low ratings Today may not be number #1 in total viewership but they are #1 in the demo. Edit: Total viewers are nice but if your not bringing in the demo your not going to getting that much more if at all in ad rates. https://deadline.com/2018/09/lester-holt-newscast-wins-news-demo-david-muir-lands-total-viewer-win-full-season-tv-ratings-1202471105/
18. I’m wondering if perhaps the 9AM ET A Block could be the same as the 7AM MT to update it.
19. The Orange Room is blocked off now for what I assume is when Carson is gone. It’s slide in wall with wooden “steps” of the Today show logo seen similar to the acrylic one that’s out orange that’s immediately next to the video wall. Now as a Savannah fan I think she should get the third hour to even hours up (between her and Hoda). She could make it newsy while also pop culture friendly. Seems like you don’t have any like for NBC at all yet so why are you watching? At this rate your beating dead horse on your end but is making NBC hundreds of millions.
20. So per the APT and my TiVo guide the 9AM show is officially named “Today Third Hour”.
21. Is the 10:59 tease live or recorded and what time does the WPHL show end? I heard they use different control rooms so the 11PM team can get ready during the 10pm.
22. Since you posted this GMA seems to be the only one that does this. CBS TM and Today all say that they are sister networks or a division of CBS Corporation or for NBC a division NBCUniversal or Comcast.
23. I’m at my limit for The New Yorker but they have an article titled “The Growth of Sinclair’s Conservative Media Empire”. Here’s what Kyle Griffin (an MSNBC producer that you should follow for all the news of the day) tweeted out: Edit: I copied this post from the Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion to try my moderator powers and see how the copy post feature worked.
