  1. Thanks for the info. Do they use other views?
  2. It’s similar to the WNBC background view. I always thought 30 Rock was the only building tall enough for that point of view/angle. I would assume NBC would have exclusive rights to live cameras on the building.
  3. Where is their live camera that shows the Empire State Building in the background?
  4. Oh I think that’s Lester being in LA. That’s not a control room but a monitor wall showing all the various feeds and satellites they can receive. You likely see a lot of color bars because there’s nothing being sent. They likely are monitoring the network (ABC and CBS like NBC have unencrypted feeds), the affiliates, news channels. In fact on the perpendicular walls where the header NBC News Los Angeles is typically there there’s an array of flat screens showing each local LA station and the cable nets on each side. The big monitor wall that’s seen when the camera shoots to the right and is frequently seen on MSNBC that typically displays show graphics displays multiviewer feeds and a large board showing trending content and I think a list of package being edited or video ingested. I’ll have to ask a friend whose desk is on the left side out of any camera shots.
  5. You mean in 30 Rock behind the glass panels? That’s the newsroom that launched with msnbc back in 2007. They either use the full 3A studio backdrop (as it was intended) or as they do most of the time they the cut newsroom portion in half with an LED wall if the slides in which shows a backdrop similar to the one Nightly has. On the other side is another wall for msnbc where they have a video where it looks like the typical view to the Nightly Studio or they show generic graphics. It’s always on showing something even when it’s slid into “hiding” but can be seen in certain shots.
  6. Hey guys are these basically the only two types of special reports used during Today? I visit TVForum and they asked about special reports a while back and hadn’t had a chance to make a video. . I said there are essentially two types one which crashes what ever happens on the east coast feed so it will continue taping and those that occur during breaks or opts. Here’s a little video I made. Of course there’s the full on special report where everything pauses because they’ll be on the air for over a half an hour or more.
  7. I made a compilation video of ABC, CBS and NBC News special reports on from July 9th where he ominated Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. NBC was the only one that had confirmed that Judge Kavanaugh was the choice before POTUS formally announced the nomination. In the video I kept the opening and closing analysis from each broadcast but fast forward through the speech. The video is 13 minutes long and was over 1GB.
  8. He did work for CNN when he came out and revealed that he was abused in high school by a priest. Then I think he went to work for The Insider but then supposed nude photos of him came out and he didn’t appear on the show but I believe they continued to pay him. Since he didn’t appear on the show makes me think the photos may be really him. Then he started filling in for NBC and MSNBC for a year or two before getting a regular gig.
  9. BBC World News’ Outside Source was interrupted by cheers from the newsroom below when England knocked out Colombia in the World Cup match tonight.
  10. I have a question about the TOTG station IDs. Sinclair sold off WUTBs license completely (instead of just selling the spectrum and channel sharing) and now airs on WBFF’s 45.2. I’ve noticed that their TOTH legal ID for 45.2 (MyNetwork) just says “WBFF.2 Baltimore”. Now I never seen an ID like that and am wondering if it is technically legal within FCC guidelines? I realize PSIP data now makes IDs irrelevant but I am still under the impression that it needed to be the call sign, channel number, and city of license.
  11. They most likely have a minimum plant to transmit HD and syndicated programming. But don’t want to go through the expense to build one for news.
  12. Better but a rip off of the Scripps logos.
  13. WDSU. Their ex station KITV went HD within six months of the sale. Of course they just installed Sony PTZ camera’s and a Viz Opus all in one system. It’s kind of funny to think a group of relatively small size, privately owned, sitting on a huge pile of cash isn’t updating their stations to modern day technology. Not all of the equipment in the stations have to be network standard but put out good HD pictures.
  14. I also imagine she got tired of being constantly on the road for days on end for storms when you got kids at home.
  15. Are they trying to make Dylan a more versatile member of the team. They had her interviewing AARP CEO on the battle against dementia. She was doing the weather today as well.
  16. You know that minister that wanted $54 million for a Falcon private jet? He’s now looking for $1.5 million to go 4K HDR world wide. Now that price seems a bit low.
  17. I should add that it would make an incredible set. Having the option of two different ways to present from the home base (the large monitor wall) and the random assortment of monitors with what looks like they could be the newsroom. The newsroom backdrop could open or they could have a privacy screen that would be backlit with the LED glass walls. The corner soft set looks nice.
  18. Probably not. It’s neat. But as @Weeters says whenever you see a design online before it debuts it means it didn’t get the bid.
  19. I get where they’re coming from. But this may be another mistake in the making. For WBTS they got the ND or someone similar from WABC and now they got the AND from WPVI. Both stations are powerhouses and are licenses to print money. They’d have to severely screw up to fail at this rate. Now that’s not saying they weren’t successful or increased viewership. I imagine WNBC is doing alright as they bumped her up.
  20. When WBAL did it it was always the male meteorologist in studio tossing to the female who’d do today’s weather and would interview some business. It stopped when I guess they went more news intensive in the AM.

WTAE’s former chief meteorologist Joe DeNardo has passed away 87 per a push alert.
  23. If that’s the case Baltimore May finally get KLG and Hoda. Chelsea Clinton was an awkward fit. She barely did a story a month and was involved in the the foundation.
  24. Now we need to see how long it’s kept after the election.
