KARE apparently already shipped their equipment over at the beginning of December. All that stuff needs to be cleared and examined for RF coordination. I expected it to go out early (probably a month) but not this early. But I guess it takes time to set up the workstations (on folding tables) and setup the networking. I assume with IP transmission going live is easier for each station rather than relying on costly satellite time.

Thanks. When I use Instagram on my iPad some things aren’t apparent or chopped off.

Is this the Telemundo studio?

[quote="mre29, post: 196950, member: 139" Just out of curiosity, why do you keep capitalizing words that don't need to be capitalized? Some places teach you to capitalize some peoples titles.

Was on Vimeo and came accross this WNBC/WNJU holiday sing along. Here’s the 60 second WNBC version: And a 30 second WNJU version:

So WFOR morning Anchor Eugene Ramirez was in New York and visited the CBS This Morning set and did the daily cross talk with his station. Gayle apparently said to him, per an Instagram story, “Eugene I always thought you were black!”

Maybe @Thundershock MN can answer this hypothetical as he’s the spectrum auction and licensing guru. First, NBCU and their Telemundo Station Group are buying many ZGS Group Telemundo stations including two low powers that will be channel sharing with their NBC big “sisters”. So I am wondering with stations channel sharing and all and this new licensing strategy within the FCC could a station such as KFMB “sign on” and register a new TV station for their CW affiliate (assumeably would need to be full power) to gain and force must carry status for cable and satellite companies? As far as I know the CW channel isn’t still on satellite and being a separately licensed full power station would require them to carry the CW. Of course that would incur FCC fees licensing fees (which hopefully the retransmission consent would pay) and other regulatory hurdles such as duopoly rules. But I brought it up for stations that have major network affiliations on a low power sister station or subchannel that would end up turning full power if they elected to channel share.

One thing CBS needs to do is finally go widescreen and push the bug to the right. Maybe they could use the extra screen real estate to stretch out the lower thirds.
-
Any notice the lower thirds look like Fox’s.

So it looks like WRC/NBC Washington is playing up a feud between Adam Tuss and David Culver. They both are young (and well David looks fresh out of college) and people mistake them for one another. Anyways tomorrow they will both be anchoring the morning show (normally one does Saturday and the other Sunday). Here’s a preview video:

Rather than bumping an old thread regarding Telemundo 20 I’m San Diego or I thought I would ask my question here and maybe @Eat News or @A3N could answer. Does KNSD/ NBC 7 provide traffic and weather updates during the local avails during Un Nuevo Día? I know their station breaks are different from the Today Show ones. I ask because Telemundo 20 plugged NBC 7’s morning newscast. My Spanish is rusty and couldn’t keep up with what they are saying. There was a video on Vimeo that was a promo for NBC 7 in Spanish but I can’t find it now. On the same topic WCAU do the same for WWSI (maybe @HulkieD could answer)? How much would it cost to say translate an hour of news from NBC 7 to air right before Un Nuevo Dia? Also why would KNSD have this video from KFMB on their Vimeo website: Thanks in advance if you guys are able to find anything out?

I want to say that the way they handled the weather remote was interesting. I kind of like it. One thing I rarely ponder about is the need for the meteorologist to stand in front of the graphics. It would be one thing if they could stand in one place but they have to move around as they cover part of the maps.

It appears to have been fixed. I’m not sure if it worked during the afternoon / early newscasts. I almost think this may have been a video wall server issue. I seem to remember now that during AM instagrams the Middle Wall has had alignment issues - where about the top quarter of the screen appeared black or was on the bottom on the screen. That or they had a spare handy and was installed quickly.

You would think they’d have something made up in the measurements of the open screen? Surely after spending about $20k+ per screen they could afford buying a back up cut out. How much could that cost at Kinkos or I bet they could get it done quicker as they are on the lot which has a print shop. I would have thought some of the plasmas like at WMAQ would have burnt out first. But I guess since it was new technology.
-
You know I was wondering what NBC would do when one of their vertical monitors fails. Well KNBC’s solution is to put put up a pop up sign that’s used at convention.

Out of curiosity could a station that subscribes to a service such as the AP or CNN Newsource have content embargoed in other markets? Say could a Sinclair station that put content up on CNN Newsource have their content embargoed in other markets that Sinclair stations operate.

How put of whack is WKAQ/ Telemundo Puerto Rico’s Schedule? I know they are now an hour ahead of us and I was thinking that they may have a special feed set up for them or a few changes made. But most things look different. I thought they stopped preempting from the main network years ago.

NBC Sports Boston has suspended radio host Michael Felger for insensitive comments he made in the aftermath of Roy Halladay’s tragic death and towards Dale Earnhardt . He will not appear on the station through Sunday. His radio show was simulcast on the regional sports net. NBC Sports Boston has reiterated that although they simulcast the show they have no editorial control over it.

Looks like First Look as been officially extended to a 4AM start time.

I think I remember @Weeters posting a link either in here or in the shoutbox. The link was from one of those old broadcast engineering magazines that were manually scanned. The magazine discussed the different types of construction of the studios and facilities. The magazine had pieces about WPVI and I believe WCAU. It also had stuff about WBAL and WMAR (where I learned that the dome on their building is a raydome)

WBAL-AM apparently is going to buy a low power station to act as a translator. It’s 101.5 and currentlymowned by New Hope Church in New Jersey. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1514476765285515

Maybe they’ll fix their PSIPs. CBS is channel 16 (their virtual channel) and their Fox subchannel is on 21 (their physical channel).
