  1. Darrell Greene left WHBQ Memphis, and now we know why. He joined WBTV Charlotte back in December. He follows the same journey as Carolyn Cerda, who also left WHBQ Memphis a month or two ago to join WBTV Charlotte as of December to anchor their weekday morning news. In other words... reunited! https://www.wbtv.com/2025/12/30/veteran-journalist-darrell-greene-joins-wbtv-new-anchorreporter/ https://www.wbtv.com/2025/12/30/carolyn-cerda-joins-wbtv-new-morning-anchor/
  2. Speaking of Nexstar going to Nexstar... what was KRQE even thinking with this?! They just rebranded their FOX subchannel to this... This is not AI, this is a real rebrand. FOX New Mexico is now FOX 505 and in case you're wondering, 505 is the area code for two of the state's most populous cities... Albuquerque and Santa Fe, as well as for several cities nearby. This is pretty insulting to the rest of the state's residents, including Roswell (KBIM-TV 10.2), who use the 575 area code, but apparently, KRQE didn't think about that.
  3. United Kingdom It has just been announced that Carol Kirkwood, one of the BBC's longest-serving presenters, is leaving the Corporation in April after a 28-year run. She's been a weather presenter this whole time, but for the main weekday BBC Breakfast programme since 2010. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cedwp8w1j24o?utm_sf_post_ref=660114051&at_link_id=A4FA1644-FB59-11F0-96F6-B671741A4992&at_campaign_type=owned&utm_sf_cserv_ref=228735667216&at_bbc_team=editorial&at_link_type=web_link&at_medium=social&at_ptr_name=facebook_page&at_link_origin=BBC_News&at_format=image&at_campaign=Social_Flow&fbclid=IwY2xjawPlZLZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR6yR9LxLJcmNTcQVl4EBm2WIBKVdTFZxOj6uqcYpLGHttBGfEEprejtesYbUQ_aem_KkYtbzDp4aE1T-PACs-vEA
  4. WFOR launched its new-look newsroom today. It includes a new newsroom set to be used for breaking news when it happens.
  5. Sad news from New York in the world of Spanish-language television. Rafael Pineda, WXTV's main anchor from 1972-2013, and the longest-running news anchor in NYC television history at the time (since surpassed by WNBC's Chuck Scarborough), has passed away at his retirement home in Florida. He was 88. https://abc7ny.com/post/rafael-pineda-legendary-news-anchor-univision-41-dies-88/18480575/
  6. An update from last year... Yeah, it looks like TEGNA is going full throttle on launching these 24/7 weather streams. I've noticed WBIR, KTHV, WFAA, KHOU, KENS, WKYC, WFMY, WLTX, KGW, KUSA, WWL, and WGRZ launching their own Weather Impact 24/7 streams lately. WVEC's 24/7 weather stream is also now available on television on WVEC-DT 13.7.
  7. This probably speaks as to why the WGN-TV Political Report with Paul Lisnek was just canceled. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1283826580225576&id=100057947386023
  8. This screams Gray, considering they've bought some translators from L34 Media before and have turned them into, mostly, Telemundo affiliates.
  9. When you're in a small market, its expected that you're only there for a short time, so it's no surprise that after only two years, Meteorologist Danielle Van Pelt has left WCJB Gainesville. https://www.wcjb.com/video/2026/01/23/wcjb-tv20-says-goodbye-meteorologist-danielle-van-pelt/?fbclid=IwY2xjawPhW9RleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR6KFE-LN30FQxHCu55UhQVXQIYcgPPycLiUzdpuB8qw0y5zBBjPh6saqWqt7w_aem_rS_R8Jj3tKpuL3F8gduPFw
  10. For the first time in nearly 20 years, WXIN will be airing midday news at 11am. FOX 59 Midday News at 11am will debut on Monday, February 2nd as a half-hour newscast (according to the schedules). Chelsea Helms (who'll remain at 5:00, 5:30, and 6:00 on WTTV), Daniel Miller, and Meteorologist Amber Hardwick will helm the new broadcast. WXIN last had a midday newscast around 2007 or 2008 and was around until 2009 I believe so that WXIN could launch HD news and an hour-long 4pm newscast (still on the air nearly 17 years later). https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1576601730133439&id=1279010730712794 EDIT: Unrelated to that... Today is main anchor Jennifer Horbelt's last day at WPSD after a nearly 20-year run that started as an intern. In other words, she rose up the ranks and its what happens when hard work is earned. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1326234642873056&id=100064595987780
  11. Alisyn Camerota has made her debut on Scripps News today. She'll be handling live special events coverage. https://www.linkedin.com/redir/redirect/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scrippsnews.com%2Fbusiness%2Fcompany-news%2Fveteran-journalist-alisyn-camerota-joins-scripps-news-as-special-events-anchor&urlhash=sQBS&mt=46if8pVQUHNG5jWiJl1wqcgcICjUG9Oqybb6eq5txdRL1Sf-f1DV1ZFI0-Rhah4gU009k-1tSIbexYG_udKuxze64SZNYnMklBMylmN9GDY85uD0lUUIl576Ig&isSdui=true
  12. Sunday Night Basketball won't just be on NBC... but it will also be on Telemundo. As a matter of fact, it will all begin on the same day on both networks, next Sunday, February 1st. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/telemundo-set-to-tip-off-spanish-language-coverage-of-nbas-sunday-night-basketball/
  13. WKRG is posting on the 'Gram that in the Nov. 2025 ratings book, WKRG was #1 in every half-hour they produced. That meant all weekday and weekend newscasts. https://www.instagram.com/p/DT0TR4AjLOR/?igsh=NHMyYXV5enRhcXox
  14. United Kingdom Sky News at Ten is coming to an end on Sunday after a nearly 26-year run, as well as Sky News at 11, and the separate Press Preview (10:30 and 11:30pm) programs. Instead, its being replaced by a new two-hour program called The Wrap from 10pm-12 midnight. Anna Botting, who's been at Sky News for as long as I've been alive (30 years), will anchor Mondays-Thursdays with Gillian Joseph (celebrating 25 years at Sky News this year) anchoring Fridays-Sundays. https://news.sky.com/story/sky-news-to-launch-new-late-night-show-the-wrap-hosted-by-anna-botting-and-gillian-joseph-13496168
  15. Retirement was short-lived for Darla Montgomery. Starting in March, the former long-time KLFY veteran and beloved Acadiana anchor, will be anchoring for KADN/KLAF as they bring back their midday news program in March called News 15 Midday with Darla. The story says its a new preeminent lifestyle program so we'll see how much lifestyle content is injected or its just a straight traditional news program. It will air on both KADN FOX 15 and KLAF NBC. https://www.kadn.com/news/local/the-switch-is-on--yet-again-darla-montgomery-comes-out-of-retirement-to-join/article_c660c96a-f53d-44c5-a003-79b497d6c3e5.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawPepipleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR6FKuN0EGRa6aTsLIS_IdZLBE-_UUfoBWL60QuhMBWw3xZykPvXv0_gYa7N7Q_aem_4WB30dzlBlwfD4y-N7Rg2w
  16. Sabrina Bates has moved from one Hearst-owned Channel 5, KOCO Oklahoma City, to another Hearst-owned Channel 5, WLWT Cincinnati. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sabrina-bates-40a228351_career-update-from-one-channel-5-to-another-share-7419900263202750464-ZE9g?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android&rcm=ACoAABqGw-0BrOQ_9csrv95OAtvM37gqLkE_dSc
  17. Sorry, I was typing this while at work. What I meant by that is that nearby PBS member stations, such as WGTE and WPTD, can serve as de facto PBS outlets for Lima since it will soon be without one. I mean, WOUC-TV (a WOUB-TV Athens satellite station serving Cambridge and Zanesville) is the de facto PBS member station for the Wheeling–Steubenville TV market (alongside WVPB) since they don't have PBS of their own.
  18. They'll probably import WGTE or WPTD since Toledo and Dayton's major stations have or are still serving Lima as backups.
  19. As suspected, Kristina Shalhoup is off to Boston and WHDH now that WLNE's operations are over. This will be a great fit for her. https://www.instagram.com/p/DTyahl3GLk-/?igsh=d3gwNWs1ZHdhb3hp
  20. Audacy is getting out of Providence. 103.7 WVEI-FM, the only station they owned in the market, and a simulcast of 93.7 WEEI Lawrence/Boston, is being acquired by Ocean State Media, the parent company of The Public's Radio and Rhode Island PBS. This will allow OSM to have a full-power signal across all of Rhode Island and hopefully use just one signal instead of the five it currently has (89.3 WNPN, 89.5 WNPW, 90.7 WNPH, 102.7 WNPE, and 1290 WPVD/102.9 W275DA). https://radioinsight.com/headlines/335544/ocean-state-media-acquires-103-7-wvei-providence-from-audacy/
  21. WWL is finally getting into the hour-long 4:00 p.m. news game, 16 and a half years after WDSU launched it for New Orleans in 2009, and 14 and a half years after WVUE did the same in 2011. Devin Bartolotta will anchor the new hour at 4:00 while Katie Moore and Charisse Gibson (two longtime veterans at WWL; Katie's 20 years this year and Charisse's 16 years this year) will continue at 5:00, 6:00 (Charisse also solo anchors at 6:30 on WUPL), and 10:00 p.m. It begins next Monday, January 26th, and will push Family Feud back to an hour earlier at 3:00 p.m. https://www.nola.com/news/wwl-afternoon-newscast-new-orleans/article_1a54e64b-b5d8-4fce-8fe0-ebf8e1369f45.html
  22. I don't know about Ken but Michaela, yes. She was supposed to get a new talk show, but its been pushed back so many times that its no longer happening. She works for Sinclair now as an executive producer for a new series on America's 250th Birthday.
  23. Probably because now the Nats don't have to keep fighting over a Orioles-dominated network and have the Orioles continually go after them on carrying their games.
  24. This is amazing information, thank you! It finally gives greater clarity as to why Toni is not on weekend mornings and its because she doesn't want to! But she is excellent with Michelle and I think she'll be more than happy to remain as a fill in there whenever she wants to.
  25. So Jovanna is Ellen Leyva's replacement at 4 and 6pm? It looks like it. Sorry if I'm a bit behind.
