Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
Megatron81 replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Soo Kim & Deb will be at the hip until they go to the grave LOL. But I don't see Soo Kim taking over Sinclair since David Smith will not ever sell unless it's an offer he couldn't refuse to sell. -
ACCUWeather Network seems to have gone home they seem to just air segments when they stop airing the pretape forecast in a loop maybe an hour or 2 is live then put it on a loop. And also just showing the national maps late at night & most of the weekend guessing they may air forecast in the morning before it's just the national maps in a loop. ACCUWeather needs to do better. FOX Weather is light years better than ACCUWeather in my opinion I like the local forecast seeing 48 hours seeing the radar & minutecast as well.

SportsNet Detroit will be on channel 213 in the Spectrum footprint I saw some listening's for spring training games checked wasn't on just a blue screen with programming 6 with the Spectrum logo at the bottom. I saw the channel was added last Wed.

Nexstar should sell some more TV station from the TEGNA merger I'm fine with them buying WZZM and for a sole ABC station in West Michigan which should've happen 35 years ago just look it up on the wiki pages for more of that history, as I wrote about it in the earlier in the thread. Should sell Charlotte, Cleveland, C-Bus etc. As for local TV ownership that ship has sailed seem like even in the early days of TV that those that got the TV stations up and running decided to cash out to the highest bidder. Not going to ever see local TV being owned by a local owner other than the few that are still in it maybe even they will cash out at some point.

Yeah, WOIO should move when I heard that they had no heat hope Gray HQ fixed the heating problem. Why wouldn't Nexstar move into WKYC studios and sell the Dick Goddard Way studio could WOIO move into that building?
-
I always thought that WZPX Scripps should've just bought since it isn't a top 4 TV station in West Michigan why spin it off.
-
I enjoyed the Olympic coverage I'll miss it. Very happy that USA Men's won gold in Hockey for the first time in 46 years and beat rival Canada in both Men's & Women's Hockey. USA USA USA.

Was Adam the CEO when Scripps dumped Wheel & J in 2011 or 2012? I think they also did that with ET which ET in Detroit went to many TV station when WXYZ dropped it they did bring it back in the fall of 2025. And FOX2 got Access Hollywood back which I think before losing it was on since day 1 but I could be wrong on that before Scripps took Access Hollywood. I remember them doing Let's Ask America Game show which GSN put on late at night for a couple of years in 2013 to 2015 that aired on Scripps TV stations I only saw The List a couple of times FOX17 in West Michigan aired it on the weekend in Jan 2021 felt it was very low budget and cheap just didn't like the topics they were talking about either. FOX17 did put it on in the afternoons in the fall of 2021 to the end in June of 2023. Also tried a newscast during the COVID for a year called The Now then moved it to the overnights before the morning news in the last few months in 2021. Then a pay for play show that only lasted a year for Scripps News took over the timeslot finally gave in and put a sitcom at 7PM when Scripps News shutdown OTA.

Spectrum News is just like Headline News I think they only update twice a day in the morning than at night. Glad to see that NECN will remain with the Spectrum News branding.
-
Not surprised that Llitch signed with MLB along with the Red Wings as well which I think will take the slot that FanDuel has in the Spectrum lineup once the Pistons & Red Wings seasons are over. Happy that Justin Verlander is coming home and resigned with the Tigers only wish he won a World Series with Detroit thou.

Wasn't Family Feud on one of the Sinclair TV stations in Bal now until Sep when it moves to Hearst. Glad to see that Kelly's talker will stay on for another year or 2 maybe a renewal is coming in the next month or 2, even know I said it be ending come May which I'll gladly eat crow on that and admit I was wrong when renewal comes.
-
I really don't think comments sway The FCC one way or other whether it is pro or con in my opinion. I believe that this is going to be approved.
-
Not surprised that Kelly is ending her talk show I said it was going to end in May of 2026. I'll beat the horse does WWMT put news on at 4PM or will they try and get Tamron Hall for that timeslot or maybe J-Hud I don't know their contracts other than that Nexstar has both talk shows on CW-WMI in the mornings. Tamron Hall has never been cleared on any of the main channels always been on The CW TV stations when Sinclair had CW.

The Scandalous Side of Fort Myers Broadcasting Company/Sun Broadcasting
Megatron81 replied to TVLurker's topic in General TV
Even Newt chimed in on the WINK firing of the chief met. Thanks for the info for the few that worked at WINK and the FT. Myers area. My stepsister grandparents would go to FT. Myers during the winter months this was in the 80s & 90s almost did go visit them when first going to FL for Disney World in Jan of 90 but didn't. Sorry going off topic. -
I didn't notice the graphics change for last night looked the same just have to wait until the SB60.

In West Michigan there is many options to Tigers, Redwings, Pistons WXSP in the UPN days the Slogan was TV Station With Game, do air a few Griffins games, a couple of GVSU football games etc, ARC-WMI but they don't seem to air the Redwings or Pistons games when offered when TV20 airs a couple of those games they did air a couple of Tiger Opening Day Games in 2020, & 2021 and also the Redwings that year in the spring. Scripps WXMI DT2 or WZPX. Their tons of options in West Michigan to air the games live in my opinion, when FanDuel RSN get shutdown.
-
Congrats on 30 years of Deco Drive surprised that WSVN hasn't tried to put that program statewide of FL or is it too South Floridia for it to be statewide?
-
I read the Hollywood Reporter article after I got off last week as the link didn't work from the thread. I was was wrong about the rotation, when reading that Banfield was leaving sounded like they were going with rotation until they found a replacement. I don't like when they call opinion host journalist when they're commentary and giving opinion when hosting their own show.
-
I can see Adam's Law being on WZZM since they have aired CBS Media Ventures court shows forever in West Michigan. I don't think America's Funniest Home Videos was ever cleared in West Michigan as I never saw it on local broadcast only on cable I remember AVF on there. Which AVF will outlive us all LMAO like COPS & The Simpsons as well.
-
I think that NewsNation will have hosts in the 10PM timeslot until they find a replacement guessing Katie Pavlich will be the first week host.
-
I think in big cities where FOX doesn't own a TV station too many overlaps as been mentioned with CBS.
-
Netflix only wanted the WB library content and movie studio I don't think this will be approved in my opinion by the government and in international markets as well. I think WBD just wanted a knight & shining armor to buy part of them so that Skydance/Paramount didn't get everything. I don't think it makes Netflix's too big for buying WB studios and library content in my opinion I don't see the red flags in this deal.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if WSYM DT2 when it becomes a Gray TV station becomes Gray Sports Network with syndication on it. Yeah, not surprised that WSYM DT2 isn't getting The Spot branding.
-
Sinclair has offered to buy Scripps at $7 dollars a share Scripps has until Dec, 5 to take the offer or not, is this a hostile takeover? I hope Scripps is begging Gray to be the knight and shining armor and buys them.
-
Sinclair wishes they had Brandon Carr as The FCC Chairmen when they wanted to buy Tribune as Carr would've let them buy everything and Pai didn't when he was chairmen of The FCC. I don't see NBC or ABC pulling networks from Nexstar if their merger with TEGNA goes through in my opinion.
