24994J 5630 Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 Who filled in for Cheryl since she was off last night for a friend's wedding Phil did the 4 and 5, and the 10 on both Thursday and Friday. As far as I know, those are his usual off days, but he (and Larry, for that matter) had been off for like a week and a half before that, post-eclipse. 1

24994J 5630 Posted September 5, 2017 Author Posted September 5, 2017 Last week was busy, dominated by a single story, but the week before Labor Day is likely one of the lowest-rated of the year. The cold open probably wasn't worth the time and effort spent (whether or not it's worth it the rest of the year is debatable), but it's back tonight.
slim4155 5 Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 I like the cold open, and love the music.

24994J 5630 Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 Ron Magers... solo opera extraordinaire Try craps table dealer.
ns8401 957 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Try craps table dealer. Too lowbrow for a man of his caliber...
Georgie56 3326 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 The gist of that skit Magers cameoed in was Val repeatedly rolling 7s on a craps table while Ryan, Ji, and Roe cheered her on.
24994J 5630 Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 "Ron Magers??? What are you doing here?" "You guys haven't noticed? I've been living in this studio for 15 months." 1
Georgie56 3326 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Looks like Eric Horng is taking over for Diane Pathieu for the 8-10am Sunday morning news. The latter did the 6-7am (5am was wiped out because of ABC News).

24994J 5630 Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 In addition to rebroadcasts of ABC 7 Cubs games, other programs are beginning to see second airings on what's left of the Live Well Network. Windy City Live re-airs at 2pm, immediately following the live show. Episodes of The Chew air weeknights at 7, though they're delayed a week. The real surprise for me, though, is the return of news rebroadcasts. The 11am news, like WCL, sees a rebroadcast immediately after the first airing, at noon. This is the first time in what, like 8 years that 7.2 is being used for such a purpose?
CircleSeven 1960 Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 They've been airing the 11am news repeat at noon on 7.2 since WCL moved from 11am to 1pm. EDIT: TTYTT, I used to love 7.2 before they added Live Well. When they didn't air alot of ads at the time (late '08-early '09), during the breaks on the news repeats, they would air the classic "People Make A Difference" promos with the 10pm anchors, and later replaced with the "Your News, Your Way" promos. 2

The listing appears to be wrong. The 11am repeat does not air at noon (or at all), based on 4 days of observation. Anyway, I just stumbled upon this random video of the old newsroom set being ripped out. I didn't realize just how extensive the dismantling was...4 and a half years later. Spring Rubber 716 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Windy City Live's Ryan Chevarini lost two friends in today's Vegas shooting. So sorry to hear that...
CircleSeven 1960 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Feder did a recent Q&A with Alan Krashesky, as he reaches a milestone at Channel 7. 1
24994J 5630 Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Ha. For real, though, that line about his and Kathy's 27-year TV marriage made me laugh, as I legitimately thought they were married when I was a kid. Like, Floyd Kalber retired (a newscast I remember watching at age 5) and then they brought in a guy that was close in age that could pass as a spouse to this kindergartener...unlike almost every other newscast that was a woman paired with a guy old enough to be her father.
24994J 5630 Posted October 5, 2017 Author Posted October 5, 2017 Whether or not the new talent opens ever make it to air, something is definitely in the works, and it's starting with a logo update. The gray Circle 7 appears to be on it's way out, as a white (but not flat) model is on it's way in. The rendering of it in some uses reminds me of the higher-contrast model that WPVI is using in their new opens. Just a couple samples I've noticed over the last month or so... The headshots used here are from the talent open shoot... Three logos at once, for fun. Also note the cuff links, a gift from Mrs. Krashesky... I saw this billboard last week, and it made it into Feder's article this morning (also from the aforementioned open reshoots)... The non-news programming bugs have changed, too, with redone animations. I only have a still of the WCL, but it animates similarly to the following bug... Yes, overall it's fairly minor, but as it's seeping into the newscasts, I'm left to guess that yet another October (what would be the 4th in 5 years) might mean some more changes.
