chrelevator 29 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Since that was the system KYW was using up until late last year, it barely could handle the former look. Well then, if KYW was able to upgrade from that to VizRT, then I think KDKA can too. They just have to be willing to do it, and I don't know if they are, but who knows. Maybe they're holding out so they can upgrade to Viz. Are there any other stations besides KDKA that aren't using VizRT?
Geoffrey 876 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 In case anyone is really bored, I've posted a gallery of over 200 images (because I don't have a life!) of the new graphics on WCBS: http://newsbyte2.blogspot.com/2013/09/slideshow-of-new-graphics.html I have an even greater appreciation of the package looking at some of the details a little bit closer.

24994J 5669 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 The new cut of Enforcer has reminded of something since I first heard. Unfortunately, I hadn't been able to put my finger on it...until now... [yt]c9O__JZAaPA[/yt]
aleckrohto 21 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 The first station to debut the previous O&O package was WCBS on Thursday April 29, 2010. The last station was WBZ on Monday, December 12, 2011.It took one year eight months last time, it will probably take that long this time. And no, I don't have sources at a CBS O&O so I don't know. I just talked with the creative services guy from WBZ and he said they would be getting the new graphics in a month.

Jess 1115 Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 I don't do resyncs but I kind of want to see how it'd look with one of 10's PNP opens...
ToriElectra 292 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 WLNY still hasn't changed yet; presumably they're still working on customizing the graphics for them.
jero23 105 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I'm really digging the new cuts of Enforcer. The graphics, or so I think are great. Makes me wish I was in an O&O market. Yep, CBS could have done that years ago but decided to drop the ball with channel 9.
jero23 105 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I really like the new GFX; it's miles ahead of the 2010 junk. The new Enforcer cuts are also very good; makes me wish WGCL was an O&O. That being said, I have to agree with many posters here, the social media tags are quite annoying. Also, at least at WCBS, there are too many logos; to box or not to box is the question? Finally, although I can see the Look F inspiration, I think that the GFX does just enough to stand out on its own; combine that with the music, and I think CBS may have a winner on its hands. I haven't quite seen enough of the look to make a final verdict, but from what I've seen, this may be one of the best standardized GFX packages made in a long time! Yep, me too on WGCL. However, CBS would have to pony up a lot of cash for Meredith to want to unload their "baby".
skbl17 188 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Yep, me too on WGCL. However, CBS would have to pony up a lot of cash for Meredith to want to unload their "baby". Well, they could always take the KOIN/WIAT route and see if they can get their hands on the music and GFX in a few months. After all, remember what I said a few months ago about WGCL's five-year style changes? 2004 arrives; CBS 46 is born. Their last update was in January 2009, when they went HD and became "CBS Atlanta" again. January 2014 is right around the corner. Changes to come, perhaps?
24994J 5669 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I think WBBM might be close to launch. Their in-program bug has been changed, it's been moved to the far right side of the screen, out of the safe area. Only the left half of the eye and surrounding box is visible and the website still appears to be underneath, and I'm not totally sure, but it might be in Gotham. The eye might be a tad bigger (or the box smaller), but don't hold me to it. I have the DVR ready to go just in case.

It doesn't even show up on standard def sets! Unless they're going to start letterboxing, which isn't my favorite. Yes, the website's in Gotham & partial caps now (CBSChicago.com) instead of all lowercase, and no more partial bold (cbschicago.com). Also noticeably gone is the HD tag which I know a lot of people on here hate those, but in WBBM's case, I always thought it was a nice finishing touch.

Jess 1115 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 KYW's program bug is what they were using when they were planning to use a CBS 2 Chicago-style box for their programming. No HD tumor, cbsphilly.com, etc. The only change to that is that the box has been removed, throwing off whatever symmetry there is there. Also, several promos are still airing with the old EWN logo and "On Your Side" campaigns.
Geoffrey 876 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Any chance anyone's noticed KYW or KCBS having issues with their lower-thirds? WCBS frequently has blank L3s (no text on them) pop up, only to be taken down a second later. And I just saw a new error: The top half of the first line of text was missing.
AlNYTVRadio 21 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I watched CBS 2 News at 5, and there were no problems at all. I even watched the 6:00 open, and nothing was messed up. Then I didn't watch. But I did notice that the 6:00 open changed in terms of background skyline. It became day time, not night, and had other buildings than the open before.
sanewsguy 517 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Slightly off-topic but am I the only who notices this: Why do they feel they need to blur their own logo on their website?
hathawaynson2 39 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Slightly off-topic but am I the only who notices this: Why do they feel they need to blur their own logo on their website? I see an young lady on the first photo and I guess the second one is about the biker accident in new york. I still like to know why the station logo is blurred? there is no person or persons asking for the censoring.
compubit 676 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 For the person who asked (and I apologize if answered elsewhere), CBS NY+ is still using the old graphics (including Arial L3s) on their top-of-hour new brief. Weather graphics are new... Jim

TexasTVNews 1379 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Exclusive: I met up with KTVT CBS 11's Joel Thomas at The State Fair of Texas today, and he told me that they're debuting a brand new set and yes there will be new graphics next week. Now I can't say if KTVT is getting the updated CBS Enforcer like the ones WCBS and KYW got right now, or if they're getting Stephen Arnold's "I Love Chicago" theme. We'll have to wait and see next week.

ABC 7 Denver 1741 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 They won't be getting Arnold's theme. Whether they'll be getting the new updates to Enforcer though is debatable... The Arnold theme was specifically composed for Nexstar CBS affiliates.
hathawaynson2 39 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 The Arnold theme was specifically composed for Nexstar CBS affiliates. would the Arnold theme work with the CBS affiliates that are owned by mission broadcasting and controlled by nexstar? I know.that WYOU uses news matrix.
