So Adam Joseph posted pictures of him taking his family to pride on his Facebook and Twitter pages and the comments are mostly good and nice(which I agree). But the not so nice comments are calling him a "groomer" and a "bad parent." I'm glad he is sticking up for himself, his family and LGBTQ community as he has an awesome family by his side and I enjoy his family posts. He has gotten a little political though but, I don't care as I enjoy him calling out the homophobes and the hypocrites.  I can see why he is extremely popular in Philly and would be a huge loss if he did leave.

Could not agree more wholeheartedly. The clapbacks against the trolls are welcome. Be it Adam against the bigotry, or Jamie Apody against the misogyny et al, pushing back against trolls is important. Even someone like Ginger Zee at the national level pushing back on the criticism of darn near anything she wears, her actual credentials to speak to topics of meteorology and climate, etc., make an important statement by being resolute when attacked.

Adam is an asset to the city's broadcast scene and as a whole for all he does in the community. Extra props to him for not relenting on the antiquated prohibition against gay men being able to donate blood and getting that turned around by the local Red Cross chapter.

Action News reported the news during the 10pm show that former Action News reporter Rose Tibayan has passed away. She battled cancer for the past 14 months. Her obituary notes that she was Director of Public Affairs for the City of Chicago’s Department of Budget, Management and Finance before she became ill.

They did an on-air feature on restoring the sheet music . Whatever one thinks of the theme, the process of restoring a document the way it’s done is fascinating.

I've been wanting to say this for a while. I wanna like Karen Rogers. But she overdoes it on the bubbly happy go lucky personality and it makes her weather forecasts hard to get through. I much prefer Adam Joseph and Brittany Boyer who are much more down to earth and don't force a smile on their faces.

And he’s moving on to WPTV in West Palm. (Did anyone tell him it doesn’t snow there? 🤣)

Can’t fault him, passed over twice for full time roles, and it seems pretty clear the powers that be did not respect or value his contributions and connections with viewers. Oh well, such is the world.

Wonder if this was already in the works months ago and that’s why they hired Payton Domschke, to eventually take his place. 6abc seems to hire people for spots ahead of the vacancy.

That sounds about right. She doesn't really seem to have a specific place right now, so it wouldn't make sense to hire someone else. What is her schedule now? Does she just fill in? I feel like I mostly see her at 10:00 AM and noon.

The line seemed to be Payton brought them back to 6 meteorologists. And they had a lot of fill in with the tenure of folks like Karen, Cecily and Adam.

There was no reason (at least not a legitimate one) to pass him over twice for a full time role.

Do you guys think they're going to hire a new meteorologist now that Chris Sowers is gone? I think Payton should take weekend mornings and move Adam Joseph off the 10pm(Cecily is already there for the 11pm) and to the Noon which would make sense and maybe hire a freelancer instead of another full-time meteorologist.

Adam to noon makes most sense, so he’d be on noon, 4pm, 5:30pm, with Cecily on 5pm, 6pm, 10pm, 11pm. I could see Adam and Cecily swapping the 5:30pm and 6pm. Alternatively, it should otherwise be a rotation between Brittney and Payton.

I doubt they move Adam to noon. I know he covers there, less so in recent months with Payton on board.

Interim play is probably Payton weekend mornings plus Monday/Tuesday noon and afternoon coverage if needed, and mostly everyone else stays as is. No need to demote Adam from 10 pm and as the built-in backup to Cecily.

Karen’s time off gets split between Payton and Brittany, vs Chris and sometimes one of the others.

Whether they hire a part timer to fill weekend mornings longer term, who knows. If they like having that 6 person team, ok, fine. That’s their call and more

power to them.

Not sure it would be a demotion. He’d still be second in command and Cecily’s primary fill-in. Also, he’s got little kids so I’m sure he’d appreciate being home earlier.

In that scenario, you add another show to Cecily’s shift and…have Brittany and Payton do what for their three other days? And losing a prime time show for noon…is a step down. If someone wants it, great. And the powers that be can do as they wish, but they pretty clearly did not intend Adam to be a regular presence at noon.

Eventually, I’d still wager a part-time weekend morning person or some other limited part-time role is filled. If Payton and Brittany are both permanent weekenders, their time off becomes more challenging. You can make Adam and Cecily split a pair of weekend nights. It’s happened numerous times. But the benefit of the sixth person is that becomes rarely needed. And mornings…you’re not going to have Karen work 12 straight days or whatever that would come to when doing a weekend with two of her regular weeks.

Weekend weather people used to do the entire weekend back to as late as the 90s. There are plenty of fill-in options for them with 5 full-time meteoroligists. No need for a part-timer.

Disagree on the demotion part. He is still on weekday afternoons/evenings. Additionally, the 10 PM is on another channel. You say you’re adding another show to Cecily, but she’s got the least amount of airtime currently:

Cecily: 1.5 daily, 7.5 weekly

Adam: 2.5 daily, 12.5 weekly

Karen: 4.0 daily, 20.0 weekly

Brittany: 3.5 daily, 7.0 weekly (that does not include the average 3 noon shows she does which would make it 10.0 hours weekly)

Chris: 4.0/4.5 daily, 8.5 weekly (that does not include the average 2 noon shows he  does which would make it 10.5 hours weekly)

Still makes more sense to have the weekend people split the noon shift if they don’t wanna add Adam there, as opposed to adding a sixth person.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

I agree with all of this and plus Adam will still be Cecily's main backup even if he takes the noon newscast. Also when he is not filling in for Cecily, he can send his young kids to school and be home before they go to sleep. Even if Adam doesn't take the noon and give up the 10pm, the weather team schedule still makes more sense than the WABC weather team schedule.

As late as the 90s isn’t applicable, since their news starts at 5 am Satirdays and 6 am Sundays and runs to midnight or later on the night shift. Sowers did the double on Saturday as a stopgap for a while, but that’s not a remotely reasonable permanent option.

There’s no rule that noon needs a primary person. Payton/Brittany split and someone stopgaps them when needed and they get used adequately being full timers. Whether they need a person is really based on their own internal business data.

The calculations above seem to also ignore streaming which is still time spent on newscasts. Karen has an hour more a day, Cecily a half hour more a day. If we’re going to count it all up anyway.

Alysa Bainbridge did the traffic for Gina Gannon today. She must be new, because I've never seen her on channel 6 before and she doesn't have a bio on the station website. She has been Miss Philadelphia and Miss Delaware, and also worked at WRDE in Salisbury.
