I do hope NBC would move it to WALA-TV, just so they would have an nice little reunion with NBC after 2 and a half decades of being an Fox Affiliate. (Of course, with Fox being on 10.1)

The only issue with WALA is how they would brand themselves.

Given Gray's penchant to de-brand their NBC affiliates, it would have to be something like "10 News" or even "10 News Now" (since they used "The News Now" in the 80s working in the "10" in "NOW".

NBC would love to get rid of WTWC, which has been a 'get a tall tower to view a competent NBC station' since Sinclair starved out its news plans in 2000 to become a WB affiliate in all but network programming. WCTV has a spare sister with MeTV (WFXU) which would allow them a better affiliate with the market's top news department and a traffic department that's not embarrassed about its public reach.

Tallahassee is about as backwoods as a state capital can be, especially for Florida.  Sinclair could have capitalized on that, but they didn't.  Instead, you have WCTV and whatever's left of WTXL when Scripps stops stripping it (and their sister stations) for parts.

Meanwhile, the less media, the better for all of the state politicians who bow down to Lord DeSantis and his regime over Florida.

New set debuted at KHGI/KFXL last night after construction since the end of May. They replaced the set that was a hybrid of parts that were redone around 10 years ago, and some parts had not been redone since the early 2000’s. Weather center stays the same since that had a more recent refresh. This is the first major make over to the set since Sinclair acquired the station from Pappas.

KDBC/KFOX in El Paso are ending most local newscasts. The former’s 10pm is staying for now along with some simulcasts of KFOX’s newscasts on KDBC.

KDBC has suffered for years even before Sinclair bought them.  Pappas tried to turn them into an Azteca America O&O and the viewer outcry made them re-up with CBS.  Then they signed the SSA with KTSM until Sinclair purchased KFOX from Cox and then acquired KDBC.

Thanks to the market, KDBC has been duopoly bait for a long time given it's location on the Mexican border where the traditional english-language stations can play second fiddle to the spanish language ones.

So esssentially, KFOX is getting gutted by Sinclair and KDBC has to suffer alongside it.

And this supposed ARC Mornings.... is it basically Sinclair's version of Fox & Friends?

I feel bad for KFOX and especially KDBC-TV. The station really didn't deserve the treatment that it would get by Sinclair.

Like KDBC had to deal with all of the problems since Pappas tried to make the station an Azteca America O&O (which is odd, because, isn't El Paso near the Mexico Border and some of the Mexican stations near El Paso airs Azteca programming?) which led to controversy about where would CBS go, then they aquired KDBC after Channel 4 continued with the affiliation with CBS.

Then the deal with the Communications Corporation of America and KTSM-TV until 2013 when Nexstar aquired ComCorp and Sinclair bought some of the former Pappas stations. With that decreasing the chances to compete with KTSM and KVIA-TV as well as the Spanish-language stations.

Also, I don't know if ARC Mornings is like Fox and Friends just for Sinclair.

I thought that KFOX would air The National Desk. ARC Mornings must be a morning newscast I still don't like the ARC branding by Sinclair. Seem that Sinclair didn't have that meltdown like that hacking in 2021. I read that a few Gray TV stations had a meltdown from the Fri like airports, banks, & hospitals etc.

I believe in second chances but this guy doesn't deserve it. I think his career is over.

TL;DR - WACH weekend anchor/sports reporter Matt Vereen has been arrested for possessing and distributing child porn. He is suspended from the station pending further investigation but IMO... he will more likely be fired and his days in TV and broadcasting are over.

Why would anyone risk such a comfy job in a good money for something like this? I'll never know the answer to that. Some people are outright dumb and/or evil

And Partially because he once worked at KOLR in MISSOURI. Vereen once worked for KOLR. JUST... WHY!?

I just checked TV listings...

The ARC brand has been expanded to Chattanooga on WTVC 9.2 - FOX Chattanooga. ARC Chattanooga airs from 8:00-9:00 a.m.

The brand also expanded to Rochester on WUHF but airs from 8:00-10:00 a.m., expanding their morning news to five hours (5:00-7:00 a.m. WHAM and 7:00-10:00 a.m. WUHF).

A double shocker from JB Flint from the WSJ. Sinclair fired the founding CEO of Tennis Channel for all but tapping on the Docusign and taking a deep and unauthorized role with Dr. Phil's JV with TBN, Merit Street, including moving from California to the Metroplex.

And then we now know Sinclair is trying to unload Tennis Channel, but though we thought they were shopping some stations, Flint says it's more of a 'significant chunk'. Looks like they're in deeper than originally thought.

And hopefully they'll sell them piecemeal.

Here's a free link to a Deadline article that confirms the number of stations (up to 60) as well:

Sinclair should have never have bought that many stations to begin with.  Groups like Sinclair are in way over their heads right now and viewers are paying the price because of their greed, especially in markets where competitors have been consolidated and decimated.

I'm surprised the Trailblazers agreed to a deal with Sinclair, given their involvement in the Bally Sports mess.

Then again, if it's a partnership (like many of the Gray deals and the Marquee/Cubs partnership), that's the way of the future as opposed to RSNs owned by an entity not connected with the teams it carries.

Looks like the Scripps-cast technique will be the future of WKEF-WRGT in Dayton, as 14 employees are laid off.

https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2024/10/2/ax-swings-at-sinclair-station

This could be the future for other marginal markets where Sinclair is just "scraping by"....if it hasn't been totally decimated yet.
