KTVU was the epitome of "we're Fox, but we're not" over the last couple of decades, but now longtime KTVU viewers wake up on 2/2/15 and see FOX plastered all over KTVU. The angry comments on Facebook are still annoying, but kind of understandable. As for the "Fox News" thing, yeah, it is unbearable how many times people confuse "Fox O&O" with "Fox News Channel", but this popular misconception could actually turn into a real problem at KTVU. Can't wait to see what the next ratings period will have in store from KTVU. KGO, KNTV, and KPIX are probably excited right now. And cbs2newengland, I agree with you on Cox stations' sensationalist obsession with crime. WSB would be a lot more bearable if they didn't report on a stabbing, shooting, hit and run, attempted shooting, attempted stabbing, murder, and arson every twenty seconds. Sometimes, I get the gut feeling that WSB's bloody reporting style actually reinforces negative perceptions of Atlanta by making it seem more crime-ridden than it actually is. Yeah, Cox's habit of sensationalizing crime news with WSB is one of the reasons why Atlanta is perceived to be so crime-ridden when it is no different than any other major US city. When did they start doing the live interviews that other Fox O&O's have been doing? I'm not a huge fan of those. They also dropped the KTVU FOX 2 in their tag lines when ending and introducing their reports and reverted back to KTVU 2 NEWS. The viewers tackled the 3 letter word FOX away and now it's on to bring the clock back and the SF Viewers will be happy. On a side note KPIX finally added the social media mandate under its logo like the other CBS O&O's are doing but it's similar to KTVU's now . I haven't heard that anywhere. I didn't realize that this was also mentioned in the no emotion box last night. The bug seems to quickly flip between the plain 2 and a smaller Fox 2 logo every few minutes. The clock is also back! In a design that looks a lot like the old graphics. They know the station is owned by the network now, so it's not like they won't eventually bring back the "FOX" to the newscast logos. According to an article on TVSpy, the 4:00am show begins next Monday (April 20) and the 4:00pm show will start this summer. I'd guess Brian Flores and Pam Cook will tack on the additional 4:00am half-hour to their anchoring duties, but no word on who's going to helm the new 4:00pm show. The 4:00pm addition is a long time coming, IMO. KTVU has always had a tough time filling the 4:00pm time slot – first with Dr. Oz, then Right this Minute, now TMZ Live and everything has struggled against Ellen on KNTV and news on KGO. Should be interesting to see how this new show fares in the books. At 9:00 a.m. is Right This Minute - in which KTVU is the flagship station for the consortium of the program for Cox, Scripps and Raycom, even though its also on at 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. so yeah. I don't know if Bay Area residents are going to like the new FOX O&O mic flags. Right now they still have the Black 2 KTVU mic flags. From what I am hearing, there seems to be a bit of a change in the wind with some of the Fox O&Os -- that they are now struggling with the lack of any kind of local identity and very unhappy with the similarities in the visual presentation to Fox News Channel. The VP of Marketing for the O&O stations has retired. Maybe it's time they make some changes.
