Mrtraveler01 739 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 He 52 living with mom and is a self styled Herb Caen(Long dead newspaper guy) of the decade. He has his blog, he is kinda funny and neurotic. Didn't Herb Caen at least have some charm and was actually likable? Anyway, I was one of the skeptics worried that KTVU's quality was going to be degraded under Fox. Mainly I thought this because Abernathy seems to want to try various experiments with his O&O's that in my honest opinion seemed kind of pointless and stupid. Case in point, WJZY. That all being said, I don't live in the market but I have watched a few of KTVU's newscasts via their stream and outside of the Fox mandated segments, happy talk, and the "KTVU Fox 2" I really don't see that much of a difference in terms of the journalistic quality of their newscasts (Bay Area viewers on here are more than welcome to tell me if if has changed). And I will give Fox credit, they are putting a lot of effort into making KTVU successful with the addition of new newscasts at 9am and 4pm.
Eat News 4745 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I agree with you. KTVU looks just fine. Heck the San Diego FOX Morning show had an anchor driving a muffin car on the back set this week.

Don't be hatin on Raoul. He had one sweet ride... I'm sure the muffin car wouldn't fly in the Bay Area. Rich Leiberman would really blow whatever gaskets he has left if that were to happen in the B.A.
Eat News 4745 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Don't be hatin on Raoul. He had laughedone sweet ride... Ok I thought it was silly and stupid... But I sure did get a good laugh out of it.
A3N 1002 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Ok I thought it was silly and stupid... But I sure did get a good laugh out of it. Just messing with ya. It really was stupid. But, I guess that's what Corsini likes in the mornings, so silly, fun and stupid is what they'll do.
SFTV 539 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 That's how morning news should be, silly and fun. It gets you going. With the SF market, they leave it up to the big networks in New York (GMA, Today, CBS This Morning) It's too stale here and lack of Variety. KTVU and KRON go head to head 7-10am and their new 9am show is more lightweight with segments and interviews and less straight to the point news. KBCW only simulcasts from their sister station KMAX and inserts the local KPIX ticker and covers the Good Day Sacramento with the KBCW logo. However weekends, KBCW runs a weekend morning show with the KPIX staff. Gasia is already starting to show her old wild self when she used to anchor Fox 6 in The Morning in SD (pre FOX 5 days) Sal and Mike were already looking at her weird and said "what are you doing?" When she tried to take a selfie during a tease for commercial break. And yes, Dave Clark sure won't be riding a muffin car in the KTVU backlot lol. Maybe Sal? Lol that's also telling Rosemary to change her wardrobe selection and stop wearing the Blazers, show more dress and arms.
TheRolyPoly 2639 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 However weekends, KBCW runs a weekend morning show with the KPIX staff. I thought KBCW also ran "Good Day Sacramento" on Sundays from 8:00-11:00 a.m.
SFTV 539 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I thought KBCW also ran "Good Day Sacramento" on Sundays from 8:00-11:00 a.m. They do right after KPIX News at 7am on KBCW
TheRolyPoly 2639 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 They do right after KPIX News at 7am on KBCW According to TV listings, religious programming is shown instead. KPIX 5 airs a Sunday morning newscast from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Rusty Muck 4426 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I'm sorry to say, but the only way that this debacle that's happening behind-the-scenes at KTVU 2 is to be fixed, is to have the station be sold back to Cox Media Group. FOX has really ruined KTVU and only Cox Media Group has the power to run such a station like KTVU. I will be dying to wait and overjoying on the day that KTVU Channel 2 is back under Cox Media Group ownership. Hang on a second... I think I've seen this before... I'm sorry to say, but the only way that this debacle that's happening behind-the-scenes at WCAU 10 is to be fixed, is to have the station be sold back to CBS. rkolsen 1694 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 So talk like a pirate day was on the weekend? If so I could understand doing a little as they toss to weather or in the last half hour of the show. I'm having trouble with the video but based on the posts you make it sound like it was at TOTH.
TheRolyPoly 2639 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Hang on a second... I think I've seen this before... Haha! Well... I know I'm going off topic, but are you saying that KYW 3 was better under NBC than CBS?
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Give Fox some credit, they're at least allowing the newscast to become less staid and less of a glorified police scanner. WSVNFan, do you seriously thinkwant KTVU to go back to having every arson, murder, and rape that happens in San Francisco? The only thing that has brought down KTVU a little bit is the Fox branding, but that's mainly because San Francisco is a very liberal metro area so Fox has to be very careful. I say still brand as KTVU 2 but use the slogan "Fox for the Bay". Thoughts?

It's a good way to balance their past with their current ownership who wants the Fox brand to be more prominent. Fox has done a decent job with that so far with KTVU.
SFTV 539 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 SO San Francisco I don't know how that will work.
Eat News 4745 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 SO San Francisco I don't know how that will work. Very painfully depending on the sex.
atlnews2 599 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Not really a branding change, but a change at KTVU none the less. 2 reporters were let go due to budget cuts. It appears that Fox is slashing the budget. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2015/10/7/out-the-door-in-san-francisco
Guest Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 They were not "let go".. they chose not to renew their contracts.
Eat News 4745 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 How does one say it's budget cuts? The reporters are the ones cutting the budget. KTVU may just exchanging 2 expensive reporters for 4 cheaper people. You can call it growth.
SFTV 539 Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Sorry to bump an old thread. Looks like management at KTVU are implementing the FOX 2 logo now in the mornings and they got rid of the Social Media bug. However the evenings it's back to the circle 2
