Eat News 4745
North of the border, CBC and CTV are planning live coverage of the Inauguration starting at 11:00 am eastern. On the other side of the ocean, BBC and ITV will cover the Inauguration beginning at 16:00 (4:00 pm) local time. I would bet the international audience would be huge given the amount of fear of the Boogy Man. True or False... During the Reagan Inauguration jn 1981, The 3 networks ran a spit screen of Reagan taking the oath...and the freed US hostages boarding the plane to leave Iran at the same time.... NowBergen 685
I'm sure there will be some not so nice anti media tweets when the Ego in Chief elect sees that this inauguration has the lowest ratings of any in recent memory. Thank goodness for movie channels, cable nostalgia channels and Netflix. He was elected to run the country (and tweet) and not a TV network. The network news operations need to rebuild credibility right now, the President has no fear of the press...so the press should use this "time out" wisely. Eat News 4745
but he proclaims himself the rating machine when he blasted Arnold for his Celebrity Apprentice ratings Very well then, As long as he keeps his ratings gloating to a few select overnight tweets; fine with me. Lets allow our President to focus on the really important things like a tax cut, beating terrorism and grabbing a little ass along the way. We don't need a perfect President...just a good one, if he want's to leer, ogle, party with Valad and the Ms. Universe models then fine. rkolsen 1684
Are any of the stations out west clearing the Morning shows early? I was looking and NBC is offering the Today show earlier to stations out west as it airs live in the east. Drew 149
Washington state NBC stations are not. KNDO-KNDU has in the past but not this time. Most of the ABC stations in WA are having heard anything about CBS. It's gonna be weird since this is the first time living on the East Coast for an inauguration everything is so late in the day now lol Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15517-inauguration-day-coverage/page/2/#findComment-165952 Share on other sites

TheRolyPoly 2457
I think at least the midday news for all ABC affiliates are pre-empted in favor of ABC News coverage because they'll be on LIVE (according to TV listings) from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. PT across the country. Eat News 4745
If we're (un)lucky enough we'll see another abrupt signal switch from their coverage to RT like earlier today. Samantha 2896
don't the affiliates have the option to break away for noon news? The swearing-in itself takes place at noon, so the answer is quite clearly no. kdex86 53
don't the affiliates have the option to break away for noon news? Funny, the program guide data for WBZ (CBS) in Boston lists "WBZ News" from 1 to 1:30, with Inauguration Coverage listed from 10 to 1, and 1:30 to 4. Meanwhile, the program guide data for WPRI in Providence (also a CBS station) lists "continuous" Inauguration Coverage from 10 to 4. So maybe CBS stations have the option to show local news at 1 PM, and the O&O's are doing so? It's straight through all the way from 7am-4pm ET/4am-1pm PT with NO breaks for local news whatsoever. It's straight through all the way from 7am-4pm ET/4am-1pm PT with NO breaks for local news whatsoever. Really? Because on the local program guide, KSAT in San Antonio will broadcast local news from 6am-7am, then Good Morning America from 7-10am, followed by ABC news coverage, but then they will break away from ABC, for the local news at noon from 12-1pm. After that it will continue ABC coverage from 1-3pm. KVUE in Austin will run Good Morning America from 6am-10am and then ABC inauguration conerage from 10am-3pm. No local breaks whatsoever. 24994J 5585
WLS in Chicago was showing up on my DVR as having local news from 6 to 7 tomorrow morning, but it was finally updated with the 4-hour GMA at 6 today, so maybe the cable providers are still catching up. As for WLS, they'll still offer local news in that hour, but only on their web platforms (so like 8 viewers).
