February 2017 sweeps results

WREG won every newscast as usual in February except at 9am (WHBQ won) and 6pm (WMC-TV won).

http://wreg.com/2017/03/03/thanks-for-making-us-your-1-source-of-news-again/

Also of note, WHBQ dropped to third place in the 6am hour behind WMC-TV this sweeps period with WREG making strong gains in every news slot except at 5pm and 10pm (no change).

Still haven't seen any numbers from Nashville, but I'm assuming WTVF won every newscast.

You know how KXTV's ABC 10 Late News Tonight was supposed to have people watch? Well, its really not working well plus anything that KXTV does is just embarrassing themselves.

This is why KCRA continues its decades-long run of being #1 in Sacramento: http://www.kcra.com/article/kcra-3-dominates-february-sweeps-in-sacramento/9088980

yeah KCRA has been fantastic despite them being temporarily taken off the air twice thanks to dish network.

I think it is for sure the January switch. It shows that WBZ must be a better station in Boston's eyes, because without NBC, WHDH is dropping like a rock.

If it's the former, then it's probably a sign that WBZ could be back on top for the first time since they were with NBC themselves (with NBC Boston already closing in on WHDH and WFXT).

The only ones sitting back and enjoying WHDH's sudden collapse is WCVB, as for WFXT? They were helped by only one thing: Super Bowl LI (won by, of course, the Cheat...I mean, Patriots yet again)!

Has anybody got Houston's numbers and how KRIV did (being they were the host station for the Super Bowl this time)?

There is a caveat when looking at WBZ's numbers - they are top-heavy with older viewers (perhaps not surprising given CBS's older skew) and not so hot in 25-54 so perhaps their surge might not help them with ad revenue as much as you might otherwise think.

That's some interesting math WVUE is using. They averaged January AND February numbers together in order to be able to say their morning news was No. 1.

If that is the case, then WWL REALLY has to regret their decision to put "CBS This Morning" on from 7-9am, although I think the fault lies more with Tegna, not CBS (I'm sure there are people on this board who will agree).....

I'd guess WWL still leads for evening news though, and WDSU is just behind at all times? (with WGNO in the gutter)

When I'm down in New Orleans, I've been watching WVUE a lot more than I used to. It's ratings have grown significantly since Benson and Raycom took over the station and turned it around.

As far as WGNO, they're just mailing it in because now they've extended their "News with a Twist" program to the 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm time slots.

That's what happens when TEGNA messes with a New Orleans institution like the Eyewitness Morning News.

You know what the really messed up part was? Mardi Gras was last week. And while WDSU & WVUE did local coverage on their linear channels "straight through" from their early morning news to the carnival coverage, WWL aired CBS This Morning from 7-9am while airing the local stuff on WUPL, but the coverage was switched back to 4 after 9am. Talk about inconvienience.

WDSU has always pre-empted The Today Show on the day of Mardi Gras. WWL was pre-empting its daytime lineup anyway, so placing CTM on 54 on the city's biggest day of the year wouldn't have hurt.

Just saw this promo on KTVI. Havent been able to find any info beyond the promo as of yet. If this is true however, this would be big news since this would be the first time in a long time that neither KMOV or KSDK lead the 10pm time slot.20170306_003121-WPSEkU0F.1488790638.jpg

CLT, I noticed you didn't list WJZY's ratings at 6pm? Do you have those? Curious because it looked like they were starting to pick up steam in that slot in Nov. sweeps and wondering if it continued.

WJZY finished the Feb book with a .3/1 A25-54 at 6PM. Not sure how that compares with last year or Nov 16... I don't have that info.

Here's something interesting. With all of the pressure put on news people to perform well on social media, it seems 'likes' and 'follows' don't translate to ratings. In these categories, KMGH comes in second:

In Buffalo, WGRZ's the big winner during February sweeps. According to The Buffalo News, "this is quite the turnaround from the November 2016 sweeps when (WIVB) Channel 4 was the winner in households at 4:30am, 5am, 6pm, 10pm and 11pm."

Any numbers for Cleveland?

I know WJW likely came out on top, but I am curious with how WOIO did at 11pm with their new anchor team, and WEWS with the "E-Team" on its morning newscast.

KMGH is in trouble ratings wise. Not sure what can help them this time around.
