TennTV1983 807 Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I mean for a quick build, you have to come to an agreement that these are fairly nice quick builds. Two things that made WFOR's new set such a quick build: They kept the existing wood floor. The studio is much smaller than that of KCBS and KOVR, so fewer set pieces needed to be fabricated together.
Journalist 894 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 I cannot believe my eyes. if WBBM saw ten million fireflies?
Action Newsroom 1300 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 if WBBM saw ten million fireflies? what.
Journalist 894 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 what. fireflies by owl city its a modern day reference. ... no? oh okay. apparently tvnt has a no-tolerance policy on references outside the news industry... I'll make my way out then...
MorningNews 1498 Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Just stopping in to say I love that song lol
AlNYTVRadio 21 Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Wow, what a good time to be vacationing in South Florida...excited to see the new set active!
CaptainNews 287 Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Can't wait for WCCO's version of this set...
cbsnewsmanila 1 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Stumbled upon this on instagram
TheRolyPoly 2592 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Stumbled upon this on instagram Actually didn't turn out to be too bad in my opinion, but I'll be the real judge of that when I see it on TV soon.
USNewsie 50 Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 The new set debuts Monday at noon.
Gdpweatherman 4 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 The set debuted today (as noted above). They posted a brief tour online: http://miami.cbslocal.com/2017/08/07/cbs4-news-new-set-same-commitment-real-news/ Looks good, just a bit small in my opinion. Definitely better than what they had before.
rkolsen 1686 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 It looks very nice. If they can easily remove the desk I imagine they could even hold small local debates. One surprising thing is that there isn't a working weather center (or a computer pod at a minimum) on set.

One surprising thing is that there isn't a working weather center (or a computer pod at a minimum) on set. The corner projection wall at the far back of the studio could probably serve as a impromptu pod area...assuming if they really need it. Surprisingly, it was pointed out as one of the last remaining pieces from the previous set.
Action Newsroom 1300 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Despite being a small space, this set looks very nice for a mandate. And because of the small space, I'm sure they'll use every inch well.
LivefromNewYork 37 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Very impressed by the use of space, but disappointed by no weather center proper. Found some more pics here on NewscastStudio
Breaking News 839 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 So who's next for the mandate CBS set which is nice. WBZ Boston or WCCO MSP? What about KTVT in DFW or should I say WJZ? Oh NOOOOO that would be too much like right huh? Very nice WFOR:)
Action Newsroom 1300 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 So who's next for the mandate CBS set which is nice. WBZ Boston or WCCO MSP? WBZ already had a new set last year. If anything, that should be a mandate set too.

jbnews 345 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 That got pretty dramatic there at the end. Talk about overboard. Nice and fresh set, though. Fits Miami well.
MorningNews 1498 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Woah, is that Rick Folbaum? I love that guy!
MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 949 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 This looks rather bright & snazzy
CaptainNews 287 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 So who's next for the mandate CBS set which is nice. WBZ Boston or WCCO MSP? What about KTVT in DFW or should I say WJZ? WCBS is in the process of building a new set currently, and WBBM is next along with most likely ‘CCO. I think we can actually put WJZ in the market of rebranding next year, but not this year.
C Block 1566 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Why does everyone need to get a new set all at once? WCCO's set is *maybe* five years old. Plus they have a lot more moving parts with the streetside elements and all their feel-good Minnesota stuff. Their current setup seems to be fine for all of that.
