ColDayNews 438
Seeing as it's World Series time, what's your Fox station's policy on news? If the game goes past a certain time, do they forgo a live late 10pm newscast? Or are they live no matter what? 24994J 5585
WFLD was live last night, though they've been showing signs of giving a damn, lately. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16019-live-or-taped/#findComment-187622 Share on other sites
Georgie56 3307
I remember KDFW airing live news after Game 1 of the 2015 World Series (a game that ran past 11pm CT). NEOMatrix 1299
I don't know about WJW but I know for sure that WYFX in Youngstown doesn't do news after the world series AT ALL. H4UL4U 127
In the past (we'll say two years ago), WTTE would be taped and WSYX would be live. When I worked Master Control at the ABC/FOX duopoly in Dayton we would record the 11 on WKEF and there would be an hour-long live newscast on WRGT after Fox network coverage concluded. Eat News 4745
At KBEX-TV we usually run all our 'Make Goods" after the game. Our MC operators all claim to suffer from PTSD...so they smoke a lot of weed. Well they tend to nod off a lot, and miss the spots. On the plus side we bag 50% of all on-site station vending machine sales. Momma didn't raise no idiots. They broke away from Fox for their 6:30 show, and Jack Atherton mentioned that they'd be returning to Fox News at 7. Fox programming was preempted for a simulcast of Fox News Channel. Yet no 10:00pm newscast. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16019-live-or-taped/#findComment-187701 Share on other sites

ColDayNews 438
WNYW is always live as well since the yankees are part of the station. The Yankees are not a part of the station (Fox Television Stations, Inc. does NOT have a stake in the team), and WNYW hasn't held the rights to Yankees games since 2001. TriangleTriadMediaNews 267
I recall a Pepsi 400 (the summer race at Daytona) that ended sometime after 2am because of rain, and WRC actually aired a live newscast after the race. It was fairly brief, just a rundown of headlines, 7 day, and highlights from said race. I wonder what NBC affiliates will do for extremely long-running races and playoff hockey now? I'm pretty sure the home market teams/race track NBC affiliates will do a newscast, but not sure about the others. WCMH tends to move their newscasts to MeTV Columbus (4.2), and if the race or game wraps before 11:35, they will do an abbreviated live newscast. Mrtraveler01 738
WSVN is always live, no matter when it ends. The same for WOFL/WOGX. Case in point. When the Daytona 500 had that really long delay that went into the night. WSVN was still live at 1:22am. They aren't The News Station for nothing. I recall a Pepsi 400 (the summer race at Daytona) that ended sometime after 2am because of rain, and WRC actually aired a live newscast after the race. (sorry for the bad sound quality) I think most stations try to stay up as late as they can to do a live newscast. The only ones that resort using the recorded option are the stations in which they are the lesser of a duopoly or they get their newscasts from another source. NowBergen 684
Sorry. I meant to say they are home of the world series. Yankees is WWOR (their Sister station). Actually no. The few games broadcast off cable are back on WPIX11 (Tribune). Fox gave up those rights a few years ago. I also believe in prior years, WNYW showed a taped report, and got viscerated for it. Northerner 32
World Series Game 5 ended at 150am ET approx. Watching the FOX station from Spokane, KAYU (they outsource their 10pm show to NBC affiliate, KHQ). They appear to have a taped newscast on the air - no time and temp bug and the exact same anchor came up on the NBC station (with time and temp) a few minutew later. We also get FOX Rochester, WUHF which is a sister to WHAM-TV, the ABC station (both Sinclair/Deerfield). I think this also might be on tape too, either that or the digital clock in the background is set incorrectly by several hours. Edit - the show on FOX Rochester displayed a 'Previously Recorded' graphic during their weather update.
