It has only been a month since Marquee Broadcasting acquired WNKY in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and it now appears that they may be looking to start a full news operation for the station. A job opening for a news director at the station has been posted.

That is a Herculean task when WBKO has literally had a stranglehold on the market...good luck trying to surpass them!

KRON 4 up in the Bay Area has announced that it will be expanding to 3 hours of primetime local news from 8-11pm. It has the morning news from 4-11am and 5-7pm, it will be curious to have more local news since it lost NBC back on NYE '01.

Here we go. Yet another news expansion.

TVNewsCheck stated that on August 21st, KRON 4 will be adding a new 9pm show, making their lineup a "primetime news block" from 8-11pm.

The 15-minute 11pm show will be eliminated. MyNetworkTV programming will be aired from 11pm-1am.

Last time KRON 4 had a 9pm news was back in 2002 after the swap from NBC to Independent. But I certainly hope that will work out impulsively.

So KRON 4's gonna be the KCAL9 of the Bay Area...

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This is still the station that runs like a small market station in a large market. They still send MMJs everywhere when all the big boys have a reporter and photog in an ENG truck at the same event, and they still whore themselves out by producing paid programming features during newscast breaks.

If Fisher Price ever got into news, their news channel would look a lot like KRON.

I'm sure they will get at least a few more viewers than the reruns Fox provides MyTV to run. They have made WWOR such a non factor in DMA 1.
