Them, Gray and Nexstar really want this 'America 250' effort to be bigger than 1976 obviously (every Gray station suddenly has a 'this day in history' feature tied into it officially and Stellantis is really into it) and are trying to court an audience that just isn't there at all with these generic 'America is the best' shows. I just think this is all going to end up being a massive flop and the most we'll get is a couple new Hearst shows to fill the E/I roster and backlog content.

As for this, the numbers they cite for subscribers (of course aggragate because who needs real numbers?) are very misleading; AA on YouTube only has 21,000 subscribers, the AA Instagram account has had six name changes since being created in 2021 so it definitely looks like it was some other Sinclair bomb before being repurposed a la Circa News to the National Desk, and it looks similar on TikTok.

All this to say, congrats Michela on your free cross-country vacation next year (this time above board unlike that KTLA spa/furniture thing!), but you could've gone with a better company.

From FTVlive

Here's one we all thought would leave with the proverbial boots on. Alice Jacobs, Vice President of News at Sunbeam/WSVN is leaving after 36 years. She joined WSVN in 1989, part of the OG crew that implemented the news heavy format WSVN became known for. Her husband, WSVN reporter Patrick Fraser is also leaving. Tom Gonzalez, another longtimer, is getting promoted from news director to VP of News.

They sold their home near the station in Miami Shores on 10/31/2025

Alan Holt has decided to leave KIII Corpus Christi after a 13-year run.

However, he's staying with TEGNA as he's moving to WCSH Portland/WLBZ Bangor to do weeknights.

Wow, how disrespectful of the station and Nexstar for a long term anchor.  You can tell from the sound when they pulled out from his last words.  And this is the company hat wants to own as many TV stations as they can.  A warning to markets where Nexstar and Sinclair will control all stations.  Shameful.  It shows Nexstar loyalty is to money, not its people.

I'm as critical of Nexstar as anyone else, but let's be realistic about this: A hard out time on a newscast is a hard out. Especially in a world where master control is run by a hub hundreds of miles away and a single operator is in charge of multiple stations.

When the programmed end time happens, the master control software will trigger the next break or program, whether they're done or not. As it should.

An anchor's farewell is not, and should not be, an event that merits blowing through a hard out time. Want to make sure everything gets said? Produce a newscast with room to breathe for the farewell.

Hanna Battah has made it to the big time and this is why she left KDFW...

... to join ABC News and anchor World News NOW and GMA First Look alongside ex-KABC'er Sophie Flay.

I don't know if this is the first time two women regularly anchor a nightly overnight news program in the country but I think they just made history for it.

I'm sorry but I would think that could have been handled so he knew the timing and not be cut off, then continue off camera after whatever hand off they had.  It just seems extremely disrespectful.

But that's not a Big Bad Nexstar™️ problem. In a world of industry-wide automation and hard cut-offs, everyone should know better, and the team in the control room failed him.

The KSHB 41 Newsroom is now dedicated to former anchor and reporter but current Community Relationships Director Cynthia Newsome who's been with the station for 28 years but has been in her current off-air role since 2021.

WBTS seems to have something unique going for itself when it comes to high-profile murder trials in the Boston market.

A few months ago, WBTS devoted its entire 7pm newscast every weeknight to the high-profile Karen Reed murder trial when it was in session, calling it Canton Confidential.

It seems like with a new high-profile trial of Brian Walshe, WBTS is doing it again with Commonwealth Confidential, which devotes its 7pm newscast to this one trial alone every weeknight. It seemed like the first version was a success, and WBTS was interested in doing it again.

WCVB is not doing something like this, so its interesting to see WBTS do it, even if ratings are still abysmal for the station. Yes, I'm aware Court TV is covering this too, but for a local station to devote a half-hour newscast on one story, a high-profile disappearance and later murder trial, is quite something.

This is from The Boston Globe, but they love to have a paywall, so someone dug it up and created a link for all of us to use, paywall-free.

This is for WHDH Boston's replacement for Kim Khazei... its Jadiann Thompson, a decade-long veteran of the station now, who'll move to the 5:00, 6:00, 10:00, and 11:00 p.m. role with Adam Williams that Kim had. There is no word on Jadiann's replacement for the other newscasts at 4:00, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and 9:00 p.m. as of yet.

KNBC did this 30yrs ago with the OJ Trial. They didn't have a dedicated 7pm show at that time, but they had a nightly recap program which had significant ratings.

Update on this- The Saint Paul Pioneer Press is reporting on a sexual harassment lawsuit that Clair has filed against KSTP... But it also sheds light on her departure from that station with management claiming that she was terminated from KSTP for poor performance which was also the reason for moving her from evenings to middays (which KSTP claims that it was not a demotion as her compensation was unchanged).

The lawsuit is only against the station, although the article does also mention former ND Kirk Varner and former Chief Met Dave Dahl specifically, as well as the "KSTP male meteorologists' refusal to work constructively...".

Editorial note- Posted the Yahoo News version of the story as the Pioneer Press keeps stories behind a paywall.

Update- Attorneys for Wren Clair and Hubbard Broadcasting have filed motions for dismissal of the lawsuit with prejudice according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press (Yahoo link added due to paywall)

In somewhat related news- KSTP Chief Met Ken Barlow is "Open To Work" on LinkedIn according to BringMeTheNews and is available "immediately"

The big shock is that World News Now still exists, considering that the O&Os don't clear it. I mean, Sophie Flay's dad (Chef Bobby Flay) can't watch the show at home in NYC.

WNN is also simulcast on ABC News Live, along with GMA First Look.

It's the advantage of not being the self-proclaimed "Boston's News Leader." There's nothing to lose by doing something different. Plus a show like that can live on Youtube or streaming and you get the chance for some social engagement. Smart move.

Seems like WCVB has just settled into rehashing their 6pm show at 7pm, which is a shame because it seemed like they originally were planning more long-form interviews (Maria Stephanos' forte) in that timeslot originally.
