TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Arielle Mitropoulos is leaving WMUR Manchester tomorrow after a three-and-a-half year stint. She's lucky though because she doesn't have to work or move far away from there for her next job. Because next week, she'll start in the same place where she interned... WCVB Boston. For the record, the distance is less than an hour away in good traffic so she'll have the move very easily for her. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/arielle-mitropoulos_some-bittersweet-but-exciting-news-to-share-share-7452508852874272769-oaoA?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android&rcm=ACoAABqGw-0BrOQ_9csrv95OAtvM37gqLkE_dSc
FiveNews 482 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Netflix is in talks to buy the storied Radford Lot in Studio City. The Radford Lot is home to KCBS/KCAL and other shows. It has a rich history of being the setting for timeless shows like Gilligan's Island and Mary Tyler Moore. Currently, Netflix is housed in Hollywood on the Sunset Bronson Studios Lot, home to KTLA. When Netflix moved to their current home in Hollywood, KTLAs lot was outdated and dilapidated. They invested a ton of money into the lot and KTLA regularly does segments on the morning and midday news. The improvements can be widely noted on TV. Netflix In Negotiations To Buy Radford Studios 1
JRyan 694 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Julie Martin (formerly of The Weather Channel) is apparently joining WBIR, at least while Rebecca Sweet is on maternity leave. Martin also just did a short stint on WUSA, so perhaps Tegna has her on a retainer to fill in where needed. Facebook post
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Something is definitely up at WPTV. Frances Peyton is leaving this week, which will soon leave their weather team very short-staffed. All they'll have left is James Wieland, Sami Squires, and the recently hired Skylar Spiner. With Steve Weagle's retirement (and Steve Villanueva leaving a year or so before him to join WFLX's sales team), Frances leaving, Jennifer Correa leaving after a short stint, new Chief Chris Sowers already gone, and even Kate Wentzel also gone (her bio is no longer on the page), things are changing at WPTV and not for the better without the station saying a word. Comments are also saying that WPTV's longtime Chopper 5 has been permanently grounded after having been the only news chopper in town for decades (after WPEC retired theirs in the late 90s or early 2000s). https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=4374555696112686 1

TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted April 25 Posted April 25 After nearly 20 years on Good Day Sacramento, Ashley Williams is leaving the program. However, unlike Dina Kupfer who just left the station, Ashley is NOT leaving KOVR/KMAX. Instead, she's moving to the night shift to anchor Primetime Sacramento at 8:00 on KMAX 31. 1

TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 We got a big retirement coming up in WPB. Liz Quirantes has been the face of several generations across her 35 years at WPEC, including being a part of the station's version of their dream team from the late 90s to mid 2000s, which included Curt Fonger, John Matthews, and Pat Murphy. FiveNews 482 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Eva Pilgrim is one of my favorites. A really good podcast with Raegan Medgie discussing their careers.
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Another retirement coming up... WFLA's Keith Cate. After 26 years at WFLA, and 44 years overall in broadcasting (including the few years he spent as one of the faces of WIAT's relaunch as 42 Daily News), May 20th will bring an end to an extraordinary career in Tampa Bay. Keith became THE face of WFLA after Bob Hite's retirement in 2007. He has since worked with Gayle Sierens (who has since retired), Stacie Schaible, and Jennifer Leigh to co-anchor WFLA's main newscasts. No immediate word as to who will take over at 5:00, 6:00, and 11:00 once he leaves, though Josh Benson (who anchors the other newscasts at 4:00, 5:30, 6:30-WTTA, and 10:00-WTTA) could be the one to replace him. Also, unlike other anchors who retire and stay in the market, Keith will actually be leaving Tampa Bay to return to his family farm in Tennessee. https://www.wfla.com/news/local-news/veteran-news-anchor-keith-cate-to-retire-from-wfla-after-extraordinary-44-year-career-in-broadcast-journalism/?fbclid=IwY2xjawRghbRleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR4Wl__ZaQxAwEXMsrFZnNGCAHYcQXFCYk8gwo1e_2moVUabBVV-Do-fWG0Rfg_aem_2XHuELRLuJ6vAtBc5_SAhQ

TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Belinda Jensen's final weeknight appearance on KARE 11 after 33 years at the station as weekend meteorologist, Chief Meteorologist (since 2005), and Saturday morning host. She's coming back for one final regular Saturday morning appearance this week before semi-retirement. She'll be back as a Saturday morning contributor in the Fall. As mentioned here, she also did the popular Grow with KARE franchise with Bobby Jensen (no relation to her, just sharing her last name, that's all) for those 33 years. 1
