KNOP (a former Hoak station and with production out of KOLN) is sporting GrayOne lower thirds and info graphics now on it's weekday newscasts.

Show open, close, and sports, and weather are still custom to the station.

Their newsdesk also is now featuring the streaming studio equipment that has been popping up at all of the Gray stations.

I noticed this while watching Friday nights on demand on Zeam.

Should also add that somehow, the old Tower theme has returned to the 10 PM show despite prior having all NBC chimes removed. I almost wonder if they're running graphics from the newsdesk now... Everytime the anchors click on their keyboard was when camera/graphics/music would advance or change.

That would not surprise me... I would have to do some digging, but I think it has been shown here, and on other sites, that Gray was testing this out an implementing for some time now.

A new logo for KTUU.. based off of WBTV. It hasn't appeared on-air yet but is shown on their weather stream and a new look for the Alaska's News Source brand. Wouldn't be surprised if they are next in line.

Yeah, it's actually a nice upgrade compared to what they currently have.

I kinda wish they'd spell out "Alaska". It's a short name, and I wouldn't have the urge to read it as "ACK! News Source".

I'm not extremely fond of the colors, but I'm assuming it has something to do with the sun.... Huge improvement, being that they have been largely ignored over the years.

I like the new KTUU logo though I'm hoping that the '2' will appear in white font instead as negative space.   The Alaska News Source logo - objective speaking - looks decent as well. I feel they need to commit to one brand or the other.  The Channel 2 brand, in my opinion, would be the stronger of the two.  But I'll take these two logos any day over anything involving 'FIRST ALERT'.

I'm surprised they didn't go with "Alaska News Now" like they have in Hawaii

It's a big state so it takes awhile for it to get to Anchorage unlike Honolulu. 😉

I like they kept the red for the 2, now in negative space; there's no need to change what works best.

Alaska's News Source is a branding powerhouse in the state. KTUU has used it since at least the 2000s, if not even earlier. KTUU is doing this in the same way KTVK/KPHO goes by Arizona's Family and not Arizona News NOW.

Which makes the decision to not spell out "Alaska" even more perplexing.

"AK" instead of "Alaska" makes it easier to read in smaller formats.

1) Mobile App tile

2) Social Media Icon

3) the tiny icon that superimposes the network logo on the guide for things like YTTV and Hulu Live.

I think stations are learning the hard way about having too much in the logo. An example (The first one that I found quickly from Google, not to single them out) is KAIT... Their icon vs. A&E right about it is evidence enough to go for a logo that would fit perfectly inside of a square. I've seen some Gray stations in the Midwest (Dakota News Now, Valley News Live) where those logos how they have them now are tough to make out when scrolling for the channel you want

They haven't updated that logo in two years, which is a bit behind then; KAIT's logo is just "K8" now in a rectangle. That's a Hulu/ABC issue with not updating the logo, though hopefully that's changed by now (their logos look fine now just looking at the zip code lookup).

Yeah, I've seen that whenever I've been at my brother's house. It's ridiculous.

Not so fast my friend... They worked that in as well.

They did just update the YouTube channel pfp yesterday, I think(?) I don't know exactly.

Though I do want to point out that the new logo is animated lazily for some reason (as I just looked at one of their stories on their YT channel), so I can see this as a downgrade.

FOX Carolina got the weather graphics portion of GrayOne.

Sooner or later, you're going to have an entire market with similar-looking graphics, with the notable exception of WYFF and the Hearst diagrid package.

Makes you wish Sinclair had something better up their sleeve since their package is almost 7 years old at this point.

Maybe Fox Carolina finally making the change will inspire Nexstar to do the same, for their own sake.

WFIE went all in on GrayONE at 11am today. This is the rejoin but its not my video.

Can they flatten their bugs or do a stacked time and temp like KMOV or WAVE? The bottom right having black on white text looks bad. Also, black text over the images looks off too. I feel like every other Gray station that has switched did much better. Hopefully they make some updates.

Found a video they posted on the KNOP YouTube.

They are using CUEZ and are the first station to do it.

He's basically reading a press release. Only in a market like Scottsbluff would this ever be news. It should also be alarming because Gray is effectively test running getting rid of all production people by having anchors checks notes report, read edit scripts, update web stuff, and now personally directing and operating cameras. No one cares if Scottsbluff looks a hot mess.

I've done that full one-man-band stuff. While it's possible, it's also distracting because you're discussing what's happening now while also needing to actively look at controls and think what's ahead. Plus, if something goes wrong during/before production, it's a frantic dash to find someone who can help and that stress is unnecessary.

New day, new music, and a new open style for KWQC. Hello News is gone once again in favor of 360. We all should've known that since a special open from last month for a special investigative case also used 360.

Jesus how many frickin times are they going to change things? There's a slew of Gray stations that have yet to get this package, and here's tiny KWQC changing every month or so...
