jerseyfla 207 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Anyone else’s anchors social distancing? Here in Middle Georgia Tegna’s WMAZ is having their anchors on split screens on opposite ends of the set. Their mics are not turning on immediately at times. It’s kind weird.
kshow 167 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 KCBS is doing it. Both anchors are sitting at the desk, but in different positions (way far apart). WCBS is using just one anchor (alternating days I believe) and broadcasting from the smaller CBSN NY set.
TheRolyPoly 2546 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I've seen WTVJ and WSVN practice social distancing but not really on WPLG. They're so ignorant. Not sure about WFOR and depending on how long this lasts, we'll see if WSFL will do the same.
Technically A Director 164 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 In central Illinois, looks like most affiliates are adopting the split screen approach.
newsteam13 400 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Although social distancing may not be all that bad. Take the late 80s WUSA Eyewitness News for example. Look at how CBS9 designed the set that way.
Georgie56 3318 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 All the stations in DFW are practicing social distancing.
ScottSchell 370 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 All stations in Tulsa are doing social distancing as well.
KnoxvilleTVFan 286 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 WATE in Knoxville, the ABC affiliate there, is doing social distancing for its newscasts.
east-tx-tv 121 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 KXAS has been doing a mixture of anchors at each end of the desk, split screening, and alternating anchors. No coming up to the main desk alongside the other anchors for sports, weather, or traffic anchors.
NotInTV 63 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Here in San Diego, KNSD (NBC O&O) kept the anchors completely separate KFMB (Tegna) kept their anchors on opposite ends of the desk KWSB (Nexstar) kept their anchors fairly far apart KGTV (Scripps) isn't practicing social distancing and KUSI (McKinnon Broadcasting) is solo anchoring their newscasts
MorningNews 1483 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 KTLA has been social distancing since Monday. KDFW in DFW is we well albeit it looks terrible.
ttvn2000 320 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 WKYC, kinda sorta practicing social distancing... 5pm, not so much 6pm, a little better 7pm, that’s more like it. (With a pregnant co-anchor and leukemia survivor.)
SFTV 529 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Bay Area. KRON not included. KNTV has one anchor in studio and one in the newsroom.
WCX-TV 17 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 WTVJ (NBC Miami) & WVIT (NBC Connecticut) are having their mets broadcast from their homes. And also practicing social distancing in studio.
atlnewsfan03 80 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Atlanta... WSB 2: separated. As of tonight's 11PM news, Jovita Moore at main anchor desk. Jorge Estevez in the stage right story presentation area. Zach Klein was in sports bunker area of WSB-TV building, not in actual news studio. Didn't catch weather to see if Brad Nitz was in weather area. WAGA 5: 10PM had Russ Spencer and Courtney Bryant in separate parts of the studio. 11PM had Tom Haynes solo. Chief meteorologist David Chandley doing weather at chromakey wall. Not sure if Ken Rodriguez is doing sports segment in studio or the sports bunker area of WAGA-TV building. WXIA 11 & WATL 36: prime-time newscast anchors looked to be separated. 11PM anchors separated. Didn't catch the weather, to see whether Chris Holcomb was in studio. I'm thinking sports segments to be on hiatus. WGCL 46 & WPCH 17: meteorologist at home. 11PM, Ella Dorsey presenting weather from what looks to be her residence. Brittany Murphy and Shon Gables separated. Rick Folbaum was off. Fred Kalil on opposite side of the studio. WUPA 69: WCBS-produced CW 69 News at 10 has been on hiatus for over a week, and is showing WBZ 4 out of Boston, which is also doing CBSN National as regular CBSN National broadcast is still on hiatus. Have no vids or screencap pics to show. These are observations I've made by surfing channels.

johnnya2k6 171 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Anchorage: KTUU had Mike Ross and Rebecca Palsha in the studio and newsroom respectively for the Newshour, unsure about KTVA. But of course, KTUU’s sister station WSAZ has been doing this social distancing thing for decades!

NotInTV 63 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 KFMB Update: Everybody separated, weather and traffic now done from reporter's homes.

Journalist 894 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Here's how social distancing is looking like at Canada's top media market, Toronto. CTV Toronto, the only station with a regular duo-anchor lineup. Here's before and after. Nationally, all the networks solo-anchor... except CBC's The National. Unlike many stations in North America, they had to update their entire desk to accommodate the change. And that's all. Global, who usually anchors with duos, switched to solos after Farah Nasser, the 6pm co-anchor, went into self-isolation. Meanwhile, Citytv and CBC does not have a traditional duo-anchor format.
