JRyan 694 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 I'm glad that the rollout is being allowed to go ahead on the ex-Tegna stations.

Does anyone besides me find it ironic that Nexstar went to the effort to spin off stations when it acquired Tribune, but is acquiring those stations again and won't be spinning them off again? To me that's essentially an indication that any stations they say that they will spin off is performative at best. In the legal sense, under the same essential leadership, Nexstar's current actions don't align with previous actions, indicating that they do intent to reduce the amount of journalistic voices. Also, the pretext that this will help them fend off big-tech is an indication that Nexstar doesn't, in fact, know how to use technology. 1

I was thinking about WATN in Memphis 1

Maybe they had to spin them off for a while until the timing was right to get them back?

They are, and they will, and with respect- channel 8 will still be the 200-ton gorilla in Des Moines when it's all said and done.
Encore 323 79 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 At 5am PT this morning, KXTV (ABC 10) in Sacramento launched the new Pixel Lens graphics/news theme. https://youtu.be/8lSPSNSE0Do?si=d-kFD0FZ1LoWRCS2
TennTV1983 870 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 KXTV in Sacramento is on Pixel Lens as of this Thursday morning. [inb4 people start asking when KXTV & KTXL will be integrated into the DeathStar]

They've had that branding since September 2021. It's basically a copy of WVEC, but with the addition of the word 'Right' included. Granted, the newscasts are still called "ABC24 News".

Is it just me or does it seem like a repeat of the previous opens with inconsistency of the current and previous ABC logos. How does this continue to be missed? This whole Nexstar-TEGNA merger is breaking my heart as a working journalist in the market.
TennTV1983 870 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 WZDX in Huntsville is on Pixel Lens as of today. Only six TEGNA stations have yet to switch - WBNS, WWL/WUPL, KYTX, WNEP, WZZM, & WPMT.
MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 1158 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I will say -- they are rolling this out pretty decently.. .Unlike Scripps
NEPANews 52 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 (edited) WNEP switched this morning, and they're open is unique to the group. Most importantly, THEY KEPT THE MUSIC! Should be noted, apart from the opening sequence (which still uses a VO), and the L3s incorporating the Pixel Lens animation/look, nothing else changed. The Time/temp bug, station banner in orange for the morning, and all the transitions are still exactly the same. No "Stream Now" QR codes either, though considering the age of the average viewer in NEPA, most wouldn't know what to do with that. Edited April 1 by NEPANews

No idea, though one would like to think that they'd keep the area's dominant brand/sound in place, roll 28/22 into it and call it "NewsWatch". Otherwise 28/22/16 News and that bland sound they currently use on WBRE/WYOU is just so boring.
