  4. Jeannette's anchored weekday and weekend mornings. This is the first time I've seen her on an evening newscast.

  5. The issues have nothing to do with WBNX. If anything, it has been WBNX which has kept the rest of his operations afloat. And it's an ego thing. Angley coveted the construction permit for TV55 ever since Rex Humbard's ministry fell apart under oddly similar circumstances. (To wit, next to the WBNX facilities in Akron is a concrete edifice that Humbard built AS the intended tower for the station he wanted.) He'll never sell until the banks force him to. The sad thing is, Scott had an independent TV station of his own in Hartford CT, and let it decay (literally and figuratively) until he was forced to give it up in 1985.

  7. In agreement here. Turned to WNBC coverage which was infinitely stronger.

  8. Not worth a thread but here’s WBAL’s 70th logo. They’re running a promo of their news and event coverage filled with archive photos and logos. They were founded on May 1946 and signed on March 11, 1948.

  9. They probably based it on testimonials from "average viewers" like Bob, Sally and Susie, whom told them that they watched 10News over News8 and NBC7.

  10. A professional. I’m sure if it were me there not only would be a studio reconstruction fee but an FCC fine as well.

  11. It's not sports, obviously, but somebody needs to put together a '30 for 30'-like documentary of the whole ordeal. #neverforget

  15. Should I be horrified that the KKTM open is...actually not quite as bad as I expected from the music? The graphics are actually pretty on par with KNAZ at the time. (which may not be saying much, but still...)

  16. I always watched the News at Nine on Sundays on WGNA while I was away from Chicago, especially the Sunday 9pm newscasts. Instant Replay is basically unwatchable online now because it's blacked out for most of the show. Part of me wonders when Dan Roan will hang it up.

  17. I loved that weekend team. Jackie, Bob, Jim, Rich. THE weekend team to watch in Chicago.

  18. I agree she's a great anchor but live breaking news must not be her thing. She had this issue when there was a plane crash (?) at Philly airport and she was on WPVI. Thankfully, Jim Gardner got back to the studio and joined her and things were much better.

  22. I wonder what this means for WPXT long-term. With the Top 8 rule poised to go away, you would think that Tegna and Hearst would be chomping at the bit for WPXT at minimum if not Gray using it as a trojan horse to enter the Portland market if no other avenues open up.

  24. The purchase agreement says that the sale does not include WPME's existing programming contracts and that Ion will have to change WPME's call sign, so it seems that MyNetworkTV will be moving to a WPXT subchannel. Interestingly, there's also an SSA in which Ironwood will continue to provide Technical services to WPME after the sale. EDIT: According to Wikipedia, WPME is already carrying Ion on 35.2, so that will probably just move to 35.1 after the sale.

  25. New M&A. Ion is buying Ironwood's WPME in Maine for $900K.
