40 years in the business and all in her hometown. What an amazing career. My dad grew up outside Richmond and whenever we visit his mother (she still lives in the area) he'd always remark that he was amazed Sabrina was still working. She's been at NBC12 since he was in High School! Enjoy retirement Sabrina.4 points

To add on to this...that theme appears in TIYN (and Image), but not with that logo. What it does match perfectly is the '96 theme's logo...3 points

Consider Bloomberg's target demo--who definitely can pay for it--and they can prolly get away with this. They're not even the worst ones. SemiAccurate.com is selling yearly full access subs for $1,000!3 points

It was replace with this simpiler open when they got a new sportscaster:3 points

--What a weird call to put the 9 in a box. Only reason I could think for them to do it is because a consultant told them to. How competitive is KC now ratings-wise? EDIT: Wait--"Today's KMBC 9?" That SCREAMS "consultant."3 points

Everybody knows Space Station HBO. It’s one of those sequences that really needs no introduction. Even the network itself has it on their YouTube page. Then in 1999, as stop motion animation was seen as dated (with the exception of “Chicken Run”), a new sequence emerged. From the theater to the small town, the tundra, the desert, and back into the city, it’s won over its share of viewers too. Then came 2011. Things got muted. Extravagance was dulled in favor of and . Until last year. With the introduction of the “HBO in Focus” motif (see any one of their current promos), a new Feature Presentation sequence was created, with a couple notable callbacks, and that classic 12-note signature as loud and proud as ever.3 points

Also identified from JACO' YT page (i guess it's cuts that aren't on firstcom's site anymore i guess): Two nice cuts, one used for 'Cinema 4' intro for Venezuela's Venevision in the 80s. "ClockLife" by firstcom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=aLX2vrQYBTk;m=6;s=36 Another: "L.A Overture" used in ad for Montreal's CF Cable TV system.1 point

Pro tip: unlike a lot of other paid subscription sites, I discovered that if you open the page, and click to stop loading it in full as soon as the article is visible, you miss out on some links and the comments, but you get the content unblocked. That's not really going to help mobile users, though.1 point

Since we're on that subject matter, I was wondering if anyone knows the stock music for the movie intro. (I know it's not a news theme, but screw it.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=C7JbKrRCIeo;t=481 point

BREAKING NEWS: Kayley O'Kelley is leaving KTVT CBS 11. O'Kelley who anchored CBS 11 News at 5, 6, & 10pm since January 2015 has announced on Facebook she's leaving the station to pursue a "better work/life balance." O'Kelley's last day is May 23rd. Kayley said this on Facebook. "Ever struggle to balance career, marriage, and family life? You’re clearly not alone. I write this with a heavy heart and a huge sense of gratitude for my experience with CBS DFW. Turning down an amazing opportunity to continue on as main anchor in a city we love is no easy choice. However, I am in need of a better work/life balance. I am definitely NOT leaving my career forever, instead I’m giving my self some time to focus on my family and other interests." "As a journalist I’ve lived in more zip codes than I care to remember. I’ve walked through communities devastated by natural disaster. I’ve covered graphic murder investigations and the court cases that follow... was a weekend weather warrior commuting to and from NYC to fill-in at GOOD MORNING AMERICA. And I’ve been blessed to co-host The EmmittZone with Emmitt Smith when I worked in Phoenix and serve as a guest co-host on The Talk on CBS." "I look forward to new opportunities later, but for now I will focus on slowing life down. My last day with CBS 11 is May 23rd. I love our team and the viewers who so kindly welcomed me here in North Texas years ago." http://www.unclebarky.com/dfw_files/dfcdd2eb26495b673f3b705f899460e6-4179.html I don't see Karen Borta coming back to evenings soon, but it might happen.1 point

It's hard to keep track, but I believe that this newest resizing of height and text is version 5 of the scoreboard. Not as tall as the original, which would still be the best, in terms of keep proportions consistent through the package, but it's infinitely better and easier to read than the shrinky dink model from two weeks ago. Now maybe they can leave it be for awhile.1 point

Consolidation for consolidations sake is how local tv will end up like radio. Controlled by a few penny pinching companies with huge piles of debt1 point

Once Sinclair-Tribune goes through (if it does...), then it's Nexstar's move to swallow up some smaller fish to catch up. It's about time the investors made them shape themselves up. Even though Tegna has passed them in terms of wackiness, It was Scripps who first self-inflicted their model of stupidity to their stations (by eschewing proven shows for cheap, inbred fare) Of course if Gamco gets their way, sooner or later Scripps will first swallow someone else (like Meredith) only to get sucked away by Nexstar. I have a feeling we're seeing Media General 2.0 again....1 point

Hearst, Cox, Tegna, and Graham could buy Scripps with little to no conflicts. Isn't nexstar near the cap?1 point

On NO. That logo has been blue since the dawn of time. WHY would they mess with it now? Not only that, but put it in a box? Seriously?1 point
