Just came here to say this. Funny that they didn't even get their own programming schedule right in their on-screen ads. I wonder if other dayparts won't match up, either. I love the unoriginal programming name. The Weather Channel's two daytime shows are "America's Morning Headquarters" and "Weather Center Live", so Fox's answer is to create a show called "America's Weather Center".4 points

Keep in mind that the New York Post is a tabloid, and the whole story is based on anonymous sources. Try not to get ahead of yourselves. Also, even if she does end up leaving, her contract is up in the spring, so it'll be a while before anything happens.4 points

It's very clear to me the problem isn't Norah; it's the nature of the evening news and CBS's position in it. They're always going to be third place no matter who they put in that chair.3 points

Honestly, I see no complaints to why these anchors are working solo. Especially TINY. Last I checked these anchors are humans as we are and they are entitled to time off. Last week was one example that Michael had a few days off and Darlene filled in and vice versa. However, if both are given the day off it’s either Jen Maxfield or Adam Kuperstein filling in early AM’s. I don’t think WNBC has an anchor issue. It’s more or less that the anchors are trying to use their vacation days. As far as what happens after 11AM is still a mystery but one thing is for sure they are getting the job done at WNBC. As one mentioned earlier if the anchors are complaining (it’s not gonna be public) but whatever the overall issue is the job is getting done and we gotta look at that versus anchor pairings.3 points

Because Scott and Jeff did so well ratingswise when they were in the chair … not gonna happen.2 points

Crazily Dan was even #1 the first few years into his stint after Cronkite retired. He fell to second and then third a few years after that and they’ve been firmly positioned there. I think the issue is more that she’s managed to do worse despite the costly investments on her behalf.1 point

It interesting isn't it? They are number 1 in Daytime, Late Nights, Primetime Newsmagazines shows and Primetime in general. So why does it seem like they always struggle in Morning News (aside form CBS Sunday) and The Evening News? You know it must be driving them nits. Dan Rather was in 2nd place (I think?) in the 1990s. My first thought is Not enough stability since he left. There been 4 Co-anchors since he left 15 years ago. That a new anchor about every 3 years on average. My second though is problems or issues internally that maybe hasn't come to light.1 point

I wish there would be a Local Forcast based on IP location. The best was The Weather Network’s live stream that included a LDL and a Local on the 8s-like Forecast. I know The Weather Channel Android app can do a local bottom line, but you’d think more apps would take advantage.1 point

Weekends would be an excellent opportunity to showcase the Fox O&Os meteorologists (at least temporarily) until a more permanent plan is in place. We shall see what they do on weekends soon enough… I hope they do (adapt these graphics). Some O&Os could benefit from an upgraded graphics package.1 point

Interestingly, with the exception of the addition of the Phoenix station, the other stations used were the same ones as this morning. Wonder if we'll see some other cities produce these segments each different day of the week.1 point

Please no. At least not every CBS affiliate. Major and Large markets sure... But please don't let the small markets into this mess.1 point

Broken record but IMO, eighty-sixing Norah will accomplish nothing (ratings wise) without some major talent acquisitions and formatting changes on CBSEN. ABC is doing a good job of grooming talent like Whit Johnson, Linsey Davis and of course George Stephanopoulos if there is ever a vacancy in the evenings. NBC has really taken the time to build up Savannah Guthrie and Tom Llamas for prominent roles should any major anchor departures occur. They've even developed Craig Melvin, who I'd consider as a stand by candidate for future Today main anchor. CBS hasn't really groomed new talent effectively. Personally, nether Couric, Pelley, Glor or O'Donnell were right for the CBSEN, but I did like Glor's neutrality in reporting.1 point

Norah’s reputation has been widely reported over the last several years as being difficult to work with so I don’t think this is just someone bored and trying stir a hit piece up. However, I’ll believe it when I see it. It is interesting that a Business Insider piece reported something similar just last month. Where there’s smoke there’s fire…1 point

Do you know if the anchors are complaining when they are solo? I'm sure if they were (and it would not be public), something would happen. Note that one of the usual substitute anchors is out on family leave, and I'm sure upon return is not going to want to do early mornings. From a viewer perspective, a short intro is fine, who the anchor is is fine as long as the news is provided in a clear and detailed manner free from mispronunciations and ongoing mistakes. There is no law of having to have two anchors, nor is there a law that one has to male, one has to be female and any other permutation. At the end of the day, it is about how the newscasts are received by most viewers and making them as impactful as possible. If solo anchors dragged down the ratings, you would see a change.1 point

Who said anything about Byron getting in at 5:45am? And who actually thinks the on-air personality is preparing the forecast? Nothing would surprise me when it comes to PIX 11, but most of these stations have weather producers who are putting together the graphics and forecast. As someone else noted, Fox 5’s Mike Woods is on air from 4:30-10:00am. CBS 2’s Elise Finch and ABC 7’s Sam Champion both handle the morning shows from 4:30-7:00, weather hits during the 7-9am national shows, and even stick around for the noon broadcasts. Once again, why exactly does PIX need two weather anchors in the morning?1 point

I mean Mike Woods does 4:30-10.. is there even much weather in the 9 and 10:00 hours?1 point

If Pix is smart. Jill needs to be full time at this. She’s been there for quite a while.. I find it kinda hard to find a new traffic reporter at least in New York City. I don’t even know if shadow traffic (the company) exists anymore. A lot of the reporters that were in that company were eventually elevated to their current positions at the O&O’s in NYC.1 point

Nah, Comcast should take back WJAR and make it an satellite station for WBTS, covering both the Greater Providence and Greater Boston area news0 points
