  1. John has the quintessential personality for morning tv. Elise is more fitting for an evening newscast. It is rather bland. Modern CBS O&O newscasts don't feel authentically like the cities they broadcast to. It just feels like a cooperate model duplicated in multiple markets (even though any o&o station on another network fits that exact definition). Fox 5 when Greg & Ro were on GDNY and Street Soldiers, WNBC with the whole 4 NY campaign and especially Eyewitness News feels more "New York" so to speak.

  2. I wish it was Shepard. He would've been great as anchor and mananging editor for the CBSEN. The wild card IMO is still BW.

  3. Shep is anchoring in what appears to be his studio on CNBC as of 7pm ET. I see he was doing the trademark shouting voice trend that the Evening News does now. Liked his enthusiastic delivery during the March madness segment.

  4. Shep did a great job, wish we’d see him more, I really hope this make someone at MSNBC realize he should be a part of any upcoming changes. He is anchoring his show tonight and appears to be in 1A using a very tight shot in front of the weather wall.

  5. He'll take a 90-second break, and then do his regular show, too.

  6. John got screwed when he was moved to weekends, he posted at once point that it was not his choice. As for Elise, she's bland, as is the entire weekday morning show.

  7. This is Gray, so "My Little LPTV: U-Relays are Magic" is probably the answer. Of the BX LPTVs, they could use a U-relay in Montgomery, but they don't need an LPTV in the other markets (and indeed one they don't own a network affiliate in). They could always put Circle on WBXC; the network has no place to hang its hat in that market, and the LPTVs are all unremarkable diginet trees.

  8. I agree.. they really don’t have anyone that brings the “wow” factor to the show. WNBC people seem to like Darlene and Michael.. GDNY has a good team especially later on..I do wish they’d give Dan a co-anchor 4:30-6.. WABC people will always stick with.. as they do have a really good morning team.. and PIX has been picking up some big names lately and really improving the show.

  9. For the past few nights this week, the "WLNY News at 9" has had an open. The anchors tell what stories are coming up, weather, and sports and then the open for "CBS2 News at 9." The WLNY 10/55 bug is used during the newscast. I just find it weird that they really just produce at 30 minute newscast, and repeat it at 9:30, but I guess there's not that much viewership. Couldn't they just move it to 10pm to compete?

  10. With all of the news lately surrounding Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns, could his wife, Emily, end up leaving WKYC? She has been the station's lifestyle reporter during football season since 2019.

  11. I think the news will be anchored from 30 Rock tonight it will be interesting to see how that works. It could also be that Tyler Matheson or someone else just fills in over on CNBC.

  12. Not really… Conventional wisdom was that Shep was going to get a chance to sub for Lester (at some point) when he was hired. Wouldn’t read too much into this.

  13. Norah O'Donnell is the master controller of the entire CBS network. Who can replace her?

  14. Shepard Smith filling in for Lester Friday.

  15. What an absolute shitshow NewsNation is. Nexstar doesn't deserve their stations if they keep funneling money like this.

  16. Realistically speaking, a graphics package isn’t going to make or break a station.

  17. John is actually good on weekend morning I think he’ll have a better time to shine there, without the busyness of the mornings. I do think Elise Finch deserved a promotion, but I think this gonna be her last stop, cause if ever Lonnie Quinn retires which won’t happen for a long time they’re gonna hire someone for out-of-market.

  19. I always thought she was good paired with Cindy. Anyone is good when paired with Cindy, though. I hate that John was moved to weekends but again, they work well together so I guess I can’t complain.

  21. Dan True, who spent many years as a weatherman at KFDA, has died. He was 97. https://www.newschannel10.com/2022/03/17/local-weather-legend-dan-true-dies-peacefully-surrounded-by-family/ https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/easternnewmexiconews/name/dan-true-obituary?id=33662672

  22. A graphics package definitely won't make a station, but it could make the station so much of an eyesore that the viewers associate the station with bad design. That discourages viewers from tuning in. Just look at WSB, which despite having a perfectly modern product is losing viewers at a faster than average rate.

  24. Any station using Nexstar NBC graphics is going to have their competition cream them. WJCL should've passed WSAV at this point.
