  1. News Nation, behind on the news!!! Saw this gem today : The Atlantic Hurricane season started June 1st. There weather department may want to go check in with the folks over at Weather Nation, so they know what's happening in the tropics.

  2. I don't think that affiliates are clamoring for additional inventory when the syndication market is barren and the advertisers for noon newscasts is dearth. Both Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful remain profitable.

  3. He very well could and absolutely deserves it if he wants. I think WABC prioritizes their weekend PM crew as somewhat of an institution that is equally as important as the Bill and Sade. Joe and Sandra have been anchoring weekend evenings for 20 years.

  5. I was thinking of that pattern too, but I opted for the simplest split, Mon-Wed/Thu-Fri. Understandable. Profitability aside, my point was that the five new one-hour episode per week model is contributing to soaps quality struggles. Poor quality is part of the reason why audiences have drifted away from the genre. If soaps reduced their episode output and show length, that would lead to fewer *perhaps better* scripts and a smaller cast. A smaller cast means a smaller budget, more focused stories, less actors to pay, and fewer sets. Better quality might not get Luke and Laura level audiences to watch in droves but it would get some of the dedicated fans who gave up to tune in again. I'm not sure if Days of Our Lives on Peacock will have a five day or one day per week output. I'm curious to see if fans of the genre would be accepting of a one new episode per week structure.

  6. Or, because they're Fox News Lite, NewsNation may want to check in on Fox Weather. Oh, NewsNation... Why, oh, why did you give up on covering weather? Why, oh, why have you done so this soon?

  7. So, is having one soap on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and the other soap on Tuesdays and Thursdays too complicated?

  8. Correct, it was only streamed on abc7NY, which would explain why they did not do a full broadcast.

  9. Karamo is going to WUPW at 4, per a promo I saw during the Field of Dreams game.

  10. For example CBS has two soaps. Y&R would air Mon to Wed from 1 to 1:30 and B&B would air Thu-Fri from 1-1:30. Give the affiliates that empty 30 minutes. (If this were a different time period I would say repeat that same pattern with As the World Turns and Guiding Light in that empty slot.)

  11. In the case of Grand Junction, VHF is probably better due to the mountainous territory and numerous communities between the ridges. Twin Falls would be better on UHF, since the Snake River valley is all they serve.

  12. Y'all guesses are good as mine. I would love to know the reason why they withdrew. At the time they filed these new petitions last year, I was thinking why would they would want to switch these two to UHF? Given that both areas (Grand Junction & Twin Falls) are kind of rural, and probably have more OTA viewership (especially in the far fringes) via outdoor antennas.

  13. I do like the corporate, polished look of the WCBS news. I like Maurice Dubois and Kristine Johnson together. I find it very professional. I like WABC Eyewitness News too, but I find the blue lower third a little too big. I prefer the Chicago ABC 7 look. Thinner and sleeker. One thing that bugs me from the WNBC News is the see through table. A desk would be nicer. I am not a fan of seeing the anchors' knees when they are sitting.

  14. Watching her debut right now and she’s incredibly solid. Some technical difficulties with her mic falling off during the forecast but she handled it flawlessly. Fits right in. SIAP but is she just going to be a fill in? I’d like to see WABC follow the model that other O&Os take with 3 mets splitting morning, afternoon, evening forecasts. Brittany could easily move to 12/4pm while Lee handles 5/6/11pm. Sam keeps the morning and network stuff, Jeff and Dani handle Sat/Sun.

  15. Spot on especially the points on WABC and WCBS. WABC is so tabloid, it’s bad in so many ways but they manage to still have the most authentic and solid product. There’s not a single weak personality on WABC, every single one of them is solid. Even Michelle Charlesworth whose presenting style is odd but still uniquely strong. WCBS to me feels like something you could pick up and drop in any market around the country without even noticing a difference. Their newscasts are the definition of “corporate.”

  16. I’m guessing they’re bringing in either students or grads from Mississippi State’s program - I know in the past it’s been one of the best broadcast meteorology programs in the country. Jim

  17. I grew up watching Cindy every morning before school. She is an incredible talent and is loved by viewers. I'm very excited to see CBS 2 moving her back to weekday mornings. (I will say that Cindy, while excellent, is even better with a co-anchor. She hasn't had one on the weekends since Covid, but she's been great paired with John Elliott, even though he's often on location. It would be great to see them move John with her back to weekdays but I doubt that will happen.)

  18. Wow, a great opportunity for Cindy, and it will be nice to see her back on weekdays! Definitely makes me wonder regarding who will take over the weekend AM newscasts. Perhaps Andrea Grymes, Natalie Duddridge or (if it was up to me) reunite Alice Gainer and Dick Brennan! Although no one really cared much about WLNY at 9pm, they made a great team!

  19. The Revolution seemed from the beginning to be a failure as not even big-named stars could move the ratings. I feel like the Chew would've gone away in march of 2020 and possibly come back in the fall of 2021 if there was enough demand. Wayne Brady just won Outstanding Game Show Host in this year's Daytime Emmys. Him, Jonathan Mangum, Tiffany Coyne and keyboardist Cat Gray have some of the best chemistry of any game show personalities I've seen. It's one of the best revivals of any game show in recent years, so I expect to see it continue for awhile.

  22. National Dominican Day Parade broadcast on abc7NY is very odd. There are no hosts, the broadcast is one camera, you can't see the performance stage, which is to the right of the camera, and people are standing in front of the camera.
