  1. Ladies and germs, might I suggest we not do play-by-play of our local stations, checking in to say that nothing has changed? All signs, at this time, are pointing to a package launch closer to, if not during or even after November. From now on, let us know when you see something legitimately new. Otherwise, we might just have to locked up this thread, for a bit.

  2. If I remember correctly and if I'm wrong please feel free to back me up but for the last couple of years usually when KCNC does a graphics change they've been doing it starting with the noon newscast. In this case. it's possible that maybe something was supposed to happen this morning and there was a hold up of some sort. That's just my guess.

  4. Wow. Im pleasantly surprised how nice the new NBC 5 set looks. They actually put in some effort. Also they are using some camera pans and movement.(Lets see if it continues after today) I havent seen a full wide shot. But I do like the outcome. Its mostly screens as we thought but the surrounding bits are nice. The desk is great. And the lighting is typical NBC. Top Notch. I HATE THE VIEW OF MICHIGAN AVE BRIDGE. Its horrible and it bounces. NBC 5 uses possible the worst camera. Low Quality and bouncy. I feels like you are watching the news on a cruise ship. Horrible. I dont know why they like that shot but it needs to go

  5. The morning newscast was supposed to be rebranded as “CBS Colorado Mornings”. As of today, it is still “CBS4 This Morning”.

  6. Oh no, that is such a beautiful set and totally agree it is still in good shape. Time surely flies, I can't believe it's that old. Hopefully they don't get a generic set, that would be a downgrade. Down here in San Diego, I can name a number of stations that totally need a refresh: KUSI, KGTV, KFMB. At this point, I don't think KUSI will ever demolish what they have.

  7. I agree the background is a lot to take in. I do 'hope' that they offer viewers something different as time goes on because a rehash of news/topics that have already been covered hours before is a waste. 'Dateline in the Daytime' feels like a placeholder (or should be). It will be interesting to see what they come up with for that hour.

  8. Honestly, it’ll likely be longer than that. There are clearly things they’re trying to iron out behind the scenes. Maybe we’ll see them when CBS Detroit launches? There’s still no date for that, although they’d be stupid not to launch before the midterm elections. If my posts on KCNC are cluttering the thread, I will happily hide them. My apologies.

  9. They didn't air very much of the News Daily and I watched the whole block. Maybe KTAL went way over on the local cut ins or something.

  10. Don't get me wrong, but I must be honest: I love game shows, newscasts and soap operas.

  11. Where's Kate snow? I thought she was anchoring. Nvrmnd. I see it's mainly the west coast affiliates. We east coasters get these two randos instead.

  12. No major changes. The intro looks to be done in-house. Excerpt: IMG_5637.MP4

  13. I know it was mentioned that WSBK would revert back to TV38, and it looks like WBFS in Miami has also reverted to the TV33 branding. I apologize if this isn't the right thread to mention this change.

  14. I hope they do a better job with the KCAL set than they did with the KCBS one. Newscasts on the KCBS set are distracting. The video wall behind the anchors reflects the monitors in front of them; when an anchor or reporter is doing a standup next to a monitor, you can see the teleprompter in the reflection; and you can always see the weather anchor messing around on the computer depending on the shot. It’s market 2, not a college newscast. It’s annoying and I hate watching cbsla from the KCBS set.

  19. I mean, it’s only graphics. No need for an apology. It’s not the end of the world or anything. Besides, they’ll get the full set at some point.

  20. I'm a fan of the cohesiveness in looks of both the network and local stations. It makes sense to me. I wonder if other networks will follow suit if this works for CBS? Media is changing.

  21. I disagree. Folks I talk to still say “Channel 2” or “Channel 4”, etc. in areas where the stations used the channel numbers, rather than CBS 2 or NBC 4. IMHO, the best way to roll this out would be to use the CBS News Chicago name for the newscast, but include something like this in the intro: You’re watching CBS News Chicago on Channel 2/CBS 2 and online at cbschicago.com. The folks watching OTA are still going to refer to it as the channel number, if that’s what they’ve been using their entire lives… J

  22. They already have their own newshour at noon, so here I think keeping the pre-emption is justified, and Rachael/Drew just works for that time in general. And why would you air 12 hour-old news when you can air five hour-old news in late night? NBC was probably happy here to keep the status quo with Bonneville and not shake things up.

  23. Is Fort Myers even that lively of a metro area to require that many newscasts? (wouldn't combine with previous post)

  26. I'm sure it'll be just a temporary branding. New York and Chicago are sticking with the CBS 2 (News) names for their 9am entries, and we know that won't last.

  27. Well, that was a dud. I'm so sorry, guys. At least we have KCNC to look forward to next Monday.

  28. Yeah, right—that’s when the Wendy Bell fiasco when down on 1020 no one called the tv station… oh wait…

  29. That means WJZ won’t have to ditch there WJZ branding KYW voiceover Eyewitness News, reporters can still say it after live shots, and it still can be used simultaneously.

  30. Re KDKA; That joke was relevant 25 years ago. In modern times, no one is out on the streets saying call letters. Or channel numbers.
