What's the problem that I sense everyone is having? I had to look back at pictures of the last set and this looks different, even if using the same elements, and looks MILES better, is more professional and modern looking in my opinion and is a nice way to have optimize your space, no matter how big or small.5 points

KWQCHELLO2023 (1).mp4 The relaunch happened right after InvestigateTV+ concluded. Attached is what preceded the inaugural noon newscast, the Hello image campaign in all its glory, sadly compressed to fit the filesize limits of this website. I will have the inaugural broadcast, including this promo, in higher quality uploaded on my YouTube channel later. Kudos to everyone at TV6 who made it possible!4 points

I like the desk but I’m never going to stop complaining about how stupid the standing anchors look is.3 points

If Cyle has an aircheck he'd like to upload, it can be placed here, but in the meantime, here's how it all came together, at debut.3 points

Haven't we learned from CNN and the Malaysia Plane Late in the game to ask this, but why would Nexstar, a company known for being cheap, pour resources into launching a cable news channel in the era of cord cutting??? Futile question: Why not take that money and pay local station employees better?2 points

Why do they need a bigger set to present the news? This set has atleast 4 separate areas - main desk w/ largest video wall, a large video wall (also used for weather) large monitor, corner monitor. In the rare occasion they need more space for a special show maybe they would use another studio within 30 rock? I will say I think the camera shots used for weather are awkward b/c they cut off part of the monitor - perhaps they can’t shoot straight on due to space constraints (if so, that’s a bummer)1 point

As I had mentioned - certainly Nothing groundbreaking or even much different than 3K. updated technology. Use of LED panels as opposed to duratrans screens, but basically still the same look in a smaller space1 point

Channel 5 is going to simulcast four live Friday games from NBC Sports Chicago. WMAQ will air two Bulls games in November (3rd & 17th), and two Blackhawks games in December (22nd & 29th).1 point

From what I can see - What a yawn! No life, no color, no imagination!!!! Reminds me of my maiden aunt - Perfectly respectable, but not too exciting. Wish that Val Staab had also thrown this one out! UGH!1 point

They showed a bit more of the studio during NY Live. Everything you see that is a gray/white peacock appears to be LED. I say that because during the 11A news, they were filled with a blueish peacock motif. The floor has thin gold bars around the parameter which is reminiscent of the floors on the main level of 30 Rock. That is a nice touch but it is a bit too subtle for most viewers. Unless you worked in the building, you probably wouldn't even notice it. The main news desk (which you can see part of in the lower right of the bump shot) is more substantial than the previous desk. The lighting appears to be much improved in 3B. For me, it is a clean but uninspired design. I was hoping for something with a bit more of a local feel. Something akin to WRC's studio. That space, while also modest in size, incorporated some local touches like the stone and the map. WNBC's studio feels like the WBTS studio which is ascetically clean but lacking in local personality. Having said all of that, the space seems nicer than 3K. I always felt like that space was underutilized.1 point

I literally get chills hearing that theme. It is my favorite, without question. It brings back so many memories growing up watching WXIA. And it still has a contemporary sound. Well done!1 point

Vince Gerasole is also on that playlist, but they didn't (yet) upload Tracy Townsend & Alita Guillen's appearances. Corey McPherrin also got a shoutout, as he's also married to 2's 11am producer.1 point

For Halloween, here are some of the Ghosts of CBS News Past, in a playlist. I'll update, as more are posted...1 point

I really do think Adell is not a good businessman.1 point

The former package definitely was influenced by local news. This one, meanwhile, screams loudly 'we have a guy who used to produce GMA'...way too big, way too much wasted space, designed for the older folks rather than anyone under 60, and Perry's Flag Corner screams post-9/11 Fox News Channel (and I loathe that newsorgs just fell lockstep into the new Twitter branding rather than most normal people just still thinking it is Twitter). Also if you don't even carry any business news, stock index tracking is less than worthless. It's pointless decoration for the sake of decoration and for the UFO/true crime crowd they have now might as well be Thai in its 'news you can use'-ability.1 point

Not like the graphics have ever been a make or break for what a disaster the whole operation is, at least back at the launch, they had the appearance of a good national newscast (graphics, studio). Every "update" since has made it look cheaper and more small market. Pointless take, I know.1 point

It basically sounds like Adell had cold feet about selling and is using this as an excuse to back out of the deal1 point

For the most part these are games are played by public schools on public property and team rosters are publicly available (same with private schools), so there are no privacy concerns here. Please stay on topic.1 point

To be fair he didn’t say that. I guess he just assumed that all of them were carrying it without checking listings.1 point

Wow! They chose the package that won't go away. 13 years Aerial has been used.1 point

What a strange way to mark Halloween. I wonder if they were inspired by WMAQ's 75th anniversary celebration and wanted to get in on the reminiscing.0 points
