Hello everyone, Invision Community, the software that powers this forum, is preparing a major upgrade that we will likely be moving to in the coming months. While there are a number of changes and improvements that I'm looking forward to, one change may negatively impact some folks around here. Logging in to the forum will require entering the account's email address, instead of the account's username. This will not affect you if you're using Google or Discord as a method to login. How can you prepare for this? It's easy! Check the email address associated with your account by clicking here and making sure it's up to date. This is also an important thing to do in case you ever get locked out of your account and need to change your password. There will be additional notice made before this change happens, and I am considering turning the feature on before the software upgrade as a way to prepare. Please note: for security reasons, under no circumstances will I disclose an account's email address. If you get locked out of your account because your email is not current/you are unsure of what email is tied to your account, you will need to create a new account. Please don't hesitate to reply here with any questions you may have. -Weeters3 points

WUPA no longer airs weeknight news at 8 p.m. No more primetime news in Atlanta (8-10 p.m.) for the first time since 2017. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/valenciajones3_its-the-end-of-a-news-era-at-atlanta-69-activity-7296356718542749696-hgXu?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android&rcm=ACoAABqGw-0BrOQ_9csrv95OAtvM37gqLkE_dSc2 points

New details coming to TVNT: Curt Fonger is leaving WPEC-TV. Fonger, CBS 12's 6 & 11pm anchor for 22 years is leaving tomorrow. Fonger joined WPEC in 1989 and was the original anchor of the 5 p.m. newscast, according to CBS12.com. In 1991, Fonger was tapped to anchor WFLX Fox 29’s 10 p.m. newscast, which WPEC TV 12 staffed and produced until January, when WPTV NewsChannel 5 took over the contract providing news for the West Palm Beach Fox station. Fonger's last day is tomorrow. KTVK reinstating it's 10pm Newscast. Belo independent KTVK Phoenix (DMA 12) expands its live news coverage to nine hours a day with the premiere of 3TV News @ 10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22. The 30-minute newscast will be anchored by KTVK reporter Carey Pena and Fields Moseley, a veteran reporter/anchor who joins the station from KUTV Salt Lake City. It will also focus on breaking news, weather from meteorologist Royal Norman and sports from Tim Ring. After less than a year at WTXL-TV, anchor Russell Motley is leaving the Tallahassee station. He joined WTXL in 2010 from Jacksonville duopoly WTEV/WAWS.1 point

So the truth with Oji has finally come out. A real shame because I agree she added a lot to the mornings (for example she'd be great as the now vacant position for NY living co-host) and certainly deserved better and fair treatment. PIX/Nexstar seems to be no stranger to not taking its employees seriously, as was documented with Narmeen Choudhury a few years ago. And then there's the case with many being pushed out (Betty Nugyen, Alex Lee, etc).1 point

It's already confusing at 5pm when it's FOX 11 News at 5:00 on both KTTV and KCOP. FOX 11 Primetime News on the Plus would've been a better name.1 point

They never learn. I remember when the now 5pm news launched. It was originally called Studio 11 LA.1 point

Why can't they keep these news titles simple over there on Bundy Drive lol? What's wrong with "Fox 11 News Primetime" or a similar variation?1 point

Will be an opportunity (or unexpected obligation) for the network to reconsider both talent succession planning and show format. Will be interesting to see if the show maintains a three-anchor format by just replacing Strahan and moving on, or if we see a return to either a two-anchor format a la Charlie-Diane/Diane-Robin, or to more of the ensemble format (Robin, George, Josh, Sam, Lara) that jettisoned GMA to #1.1 point

AMG may be looking for a sale. Just flagging that this is the KFSN set.1 point

George just signed on for another year, so he's good thru '25. I believe Robin's contract is due up soon, so if the Strahan news pans out, her stock may be going back up.1 point

The anchor lineup is incorrect. I know its been a mess lately, but there are 6pm promos featuring Michael and Colleen. Robert Kovacik is one of their top street reporters. 11a and 3p- Annabelle 4, 5, 6- Colleen/Michael 7- Colleen 11- Carolyn. She may take on another show as her health improves. She has been filling in on earlier shows this week and last as Colleen is off. Colleen is almost 70. She has anchored the 11pm since Kelly Lange stepped down from that show in the mid-late 90s. I think her getting off the 11pm is one step towards her eventual retirement.1 point

I just checked... WPIX now does Saturday mornings from 8:00-9:30 a.m. and Sunday mornings from 8:00-9:00 a.m., which starkly contrasts with 8:00-10:00 a.m. when it debuted.1 point

Is the weekend morning news that important to them anymore? There does not seem to be much stability; no rush to replace Star Harvey, and much of the two hours is now cut to make room for Ben Around Town, or even Paid Programming/Infomercials.1 point

That's pretty crazy. My first thought is if it has to do with that Kamala Harris interview. Article mentions that too.1 point

NYC studios are often constrained by space (especially height.) It's only been in the last decade with slimmer LED lights and video arrays that you could make smaller spaces feel grand and not cramped. KTLA vs WPIX - same set style but one is on a Hollywood sound stage and one is in an office tower in Manhattan.1 point

We are going on 6 years with the graphics package. This is actually a nice refresh and update to the Lower Thirds. Looks like each station in the group have went different directions either by changing the colors away from the Red, White and Blue or some have switched to the LIVENOW on FOX lower thirds1 point

Due to disputes between Optimum and Nexstar, WPIX is no longer available for Optimum subscribers. It seems the basic reason was that Optimum did not want to have to carry NewsNation anymore. https://deadline.com/2025/01/nexstar-optimum-carriage-dispute-tv-stations-wpix-newsnation-1236254076/1 point

Although Byron Miranda has been handling most weekend mornings and evenings so far, Stacy Ann Gooden filled in this morning, and "Nexstar Weather Center" meteorologist Jim Danner handled the evenings remotely from Texas.1 point

I've been noticing a lot of small errors on KCAL/KCBS the past couple of weeks. Throws to nowhere, incorrect graphics, wrong tape, etc. Unusual for a major station that had been pretty good before that.1 point

What happened to Carolyn Johnson? I haven't seen her lately. For the anchor changes, think it's temporary with Brownlee & Williams.1 point
-
Have there been quiet anchor changes/departures? I saw a quick promo that featured Colleen Williams and Michael Brownlee as the 6pm team. Not sure if this is for the Olympics or a permament move? Carolyn Johnson was the previous anchor at 6pm.1 point

WPLG's sister station, KSAT in San Antonio, is also picking up Regis and Kelly. It will be the first time in one year that San Antonio will have Regis and Kelly back in the Alamo City. WOAI dropped the program in September 2010 and replaced it with Rachel Ray in hopes of building better ratings for S.A. Living1 point

Yup, same. When news of his death was announced, I just knew this was going to be the reason. I hope the other KCAL dudes on Grindr are careful.0 points

Sadly, it instantly reminded of Chris Burrous' death, and nearly in the same manner no less. Just horrible all the way around, and I pray his family can find peace around this tragedy.0 points

I'm not a hardcore hockey fan, but amongst the great voices in the history of the NHL, he was one of the most identifiable ever. Pittsburgh and Penguins fans will forever cherish him. RIP.0 points

Oh well. He had a good run before he went nanners. Then again, he could fall upward into some government role like Dr. Oz....0 points
