  1. I was glad his old home of WCBS dedicated some time to this sad news. You could tell how sad Kristine was to break the news. He certainly has the talent, so I'm hopeful that things will work out for him somewhere.

  2. WJCL and WAPT switched to D25 this afternoon, which means all of Hearst's stations are now current.

  4. If I was a major shareholder of WBD, I'd want Paramount Skydance to stay as far away as possible. Nothing but chaos. No strategic planning. No succession planning. And despite the original intent that Maurice would continue with CBS2, that clearly was never the case, and not an option going forward. I hope he and John Dickerson have hefty separation agreements.

  5. 100% agree. She’s become a quick favorite of the weather team in her short time at channel 7 so far. That 10am show is much better when she’s on.

  6. I think the triangle in the 'n' should be green to represent up on their ticker and the currency color, seems like that would've been more natural. There's also a easter egg in the bottom of the "N" and "C", which hints at the 'trapezoid N' logo, so there's a little reminder of their NBC heritage in there.

  8. John and Maurice are now officially the shortest lasting Evening News anchors in recent history. Wikipedia doesn't have it updated yet but here's a list anyways. CBS Evening News might as well be a revolving door at this point. I can't believe that only Katie Couric, Scott Pelley and Norah O'Donnell lasted 5-6 years while Jeff Glor only managed 2 and now the duo of John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois will finish out their year long run as the shortest tenured duo in evening news history. How can CBS fumble their news department this hard?

  9. I noticed this, too. For some reason, the fill-in anchor at noon never says “in for Cindy.” It hasn’t just been for this extended absence. Five-second promos advertising Cindy at noon continue airing on TV, in addition to the streaming advertisement you posted above. Cindy’s bio is also still posted on the website. Speaking of website bios, I noticed that bios for Zinnia Maldonado and Alecia Reid were both removed from the bios page on the website. Neither of them has reported since late October and they both must have been victims of the mass layoffs that hit CBS News and Stations in early November. I also noticed that the bio for Krystle Rich, a sports reporter who was working for WCBS, KYW, and CBS Sports, was removed from the bios page, too. She had only joined earlier in 2025 and I’m not sure if she is still working for KYW or CBS Sports and is just no longer with WCBS, or if she is completely gone.

  10. They truly were. Their prior logo and look (the one with the 3D "10") was very underwhelming. And I think that was even a job done by local firm Cranston-Csuri, best known for their work with CBS Sports during the '80s and '90s. Their next package was a Giant Octopus job that started out blue and white and then evolved to blue and gold.... Who would have ever thought such a thing would have happened in the land of the Buckeyes?

  11. I'm as critical of Nexstar as anyone else, but let's be realistic about this: A hard out time on a newscast is a hard out. Especially in a world where master control is run by a hub hundreds of miles away and a single operator is in charge of multiple stations. When the programmed end time happens, the master control software will trigger the next break or program, whether they're done or not. As it should. An anchor's farewell is not, and should not be, an event that merits blowing through a hard out time. Want to make sure everything gets said? Produce a newscast with room to breathe for the farewell.

  12. You know when I look back at Roz's career. I felt like WCBS took her spotlight away. She was there for only 2 years and then left the business altogether. She should've stayed at WABC in hindsight. WCBS just did not treat her as well as WABC did. WABC was her home. I hope she's doing well in her retirement years. I miss her so much. She had such a tenacious personality with WABC.

  13. Unfortunately, we lost Geoff Fox. Former radio personality, longtime meteorologist in Connecticut at WTNH and WTIC but also for NCN: NewsChannel Nebraska. Passed away last night in his sleep after battling prostate cancer. He was 75. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wtnh.com/news/connecticut/new-haven/former-news-8-meteorologist-geoff-fox-dies-after-cancer-battle/amp/

  14. From industry wide observation it seems anchors often get the opportunity to say goodbye (even if it's for another job), but for longtime reporters, stations just prefer them to disappear unless it's a retirement. IMO if you've been around for a while and you're leaving on good terms, you should at least be able to acknowledge your departure on air --- if you want.

  15. Tim Fleischer and Dave Evans retired. That’s a lot different, and deserving of an on air goodbye, compared to leaving for another job.

  16. His LinkedIn confirms as well. I question if he was on good terms with management when he left, because he wasn't given an air goodbye like other long timers Tim Fleicher and Dave Evans.

  19. I'd imagine that broadcast journalism is a rigorous career, and its not for the faint of heart, so kudos for her in her realization on that and kudos to her for her courage to accept that this was not the journey for her especially after 12 years! - I guess Reagan Medgie echoed the same sentiment when she left back in April.

  20. You have a totally fair point. A pre 7am to 11:35 pm workday is ALOT. They could use another MET. However she seems to be enjoying herself based on the Instagram reel. From firsthand experience, I can tell you when you do something you love such as journalism, it's much easier to pull a double -- SOMETIMES -- rather than in a regular job that you're not passionate about.

  22. I've been watching her since her days at KTNV Las Vegas. She is fantastic and very beautiful, I do agree.

  23. she wasn’t laid off - that would imply budget cuts and her position eliminated. Her position — general assignment reporter— was recently listed as open, as was the position of weekend anchor/reporter. It sounds more like she and WABC couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract and/or she was told the anchor position was not something she would be offered.

  24. Kudos to him and Pedro as this is not the first time they’ve filled in on the weekend morning. And can I just say, I think Dani is the star of the weather team! On a separate note, could Elex Michaelson from LA be coming to WABC to replace Pedro on weekend mornings?

  25. That does sound like leaving wasn't something she wanted to do. I see a lot of her co-workers have left comments wishing her well and sad over her departure.

  26. Just saw it on IG and came here to say that it definitely did not seem to be her choice ("some goodbyes are hidden blessings and nudges towards something new" and "I am no longer with Eyewitness News"). It's odd, since she was doing some anchoring. I wonder if something happened.

  27. Now that the ABC and WABC operations are in one building, we are now seeing the shared resources (talent included) for both national and local productions. Jeff Smith and Lee Goldberg have appeared on World News Tonight many times now. Yesterday also marked Lee's 29th year with WABC. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMskm6OMA3_/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=YWoxeDRjYmY0dWJ0

  28. Definitely weird for them not to have picked a replacement as it's been about five months. Such a long gap makes it seem like they're hiring from outside, otherwise it should be easy to promote someone from within. I wonder if all the uncertainty around CBS/Paramount and the new CBS Evening News has them keeping a seat warm for Maurice just in case.

  29. Lonnie Quinn returned to WCBS and CBS this evening. He announced March 14th that he was taking several weeks off to recover from a concussion that was later determined to be a traumatic brain injury. He returned to the newsroom to applause, hugs, balloons and cake today:
