  1. What a wonderful story this is for Elena LaQuatra. She's the current noon anchor at WTAE but is 100% deaf. She needs hearing aids, after suffering from bacterial meningitis as a toddler, and using Cochlear implants, to hear her colleagues in the newsroom, as well as her family and husband. That has never stopped her from really further achieving much higher goals. I mean, she's an anchor af WTAE after all, but now this story will get even better for her. Starting March 2nd, LaQuatra is taking over for legendary anchor Michelle Wright (retiring Feb. 27th) on their morning news alongside another two longtime WTAE veterans Janelle Hall and Meteteorologist Ashley Dougherty. Just because your deaf or autistic (like me) or blind or suffer from any kind of disability, DO NOT let that ever stop you from achieving what you can achieve. Elena LaQuatra's story is point proven, and IMHO, this is truly wonderful. https://www.audacy.com/kdkaradio/news/local/wtae-names-morning-anchor-replacing-retiring-michelle-wright?fbclid=IwY2xjawQDAO5leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR7mMdA-NtvIi_7ZPlfpuHOSNHhuNwdvtf3-Mwxs2VBcTGubQ0Ss4nnFSjHijg_aem_b2cfdu-D1zchoxx23XX4AA EDIT: Unrelated to that... Kevin Lemanowicz is the ONLY Chief Meteorologist WFXT has ever had in their current news operation (dating back to 1996). For the first time ever, WFXT will be having a NEW Chief as Kevin has decided to leave next week on February 27th. https://www.boston25news.com/news/local/boston-25-news-announces-departure-chief-meteorologist-kevin-lemanowicz/M3OGAIJY5BDJ7DMG35YDKNYKZQ/?fbclid=PAT01DUAQDBdxleHRuA2FlbQIxMABzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA81NjcwNjczNDMzNTI0MjcAAadzxeQ0MTu6Y_s368AfNDh84S4qUW3lvcWziadC7J3tkf7praPNVd84ZNpI0g_aem_c4fjjErtu7PKyZj00dXIWQ

  4. Nothing wrong with this. It's when they start putting actual ads on the boards for the Olympics... That will be excessive, and probably a violation of some contract.

  5. Rich Boehne was CEO then. I believe he was also the one who lamented the "business model" when Scripps decided to shut down the Rocky Mountain News.

  6. Saw this on YouTube, kind of interesting look at how NBC gets the Olympics on the air.

  7. Indeed-- if you're billed as talent in a major network station's local newscast (regardless of your function), you need to look like you take pride in being there and part of it (would have been worse if the shoes were dirty).

  8. Veteran CBS LA and KCAL 9 anchor Juan Fernandez, celebrated 30 years with the duopoly yesterday and he had a special segment just for that milestone during CBS LA News at 4pm. https://youtu.be/W85e5rEUt5E?si=wScdewr63MHClCIT

  9. Well, it looks like Panama City (and Dothan) no longer have 9pm newscasts on WPGX and WDFX. Lockwood and Nexstar must have nixed the arrangement. Big Bang Theory repeats are now on the schedule at 9pm on both stations. First of the year perhaps? This leaves WSFA's 9pm newscast being simulcast on WTVY 4.3 and WRGX 23.2.

  11. Not sure if this is posted already but WNYW's "6'Clock News" has expanded to a full hour. If I recall correctly, Family Feud was on at 6:30pm, it's now been pushed to 11:30 PM as "Family Feud Favorites".

  12. CBS 2 recently emailed members of the Weather Watchers network that they were moving to a new system, effective today. They had only been showing viewer reports in the morning and at noon but now: I noticed some different looking graphics this morning. One annoying thing is that the viewer comments are now in all capital letters, making them harder to read, much like the rest of CBS 2's graphics and full screens. Curious if there will be anything else new on air.

  13. not to be nitpicky, but the talent open with Dale Yurong wearing a suit and tennis shoes?? very tacky. I understand the need and most wear tennis shoes that usually aren't seen on camera, but in promos and opens, come on put on dress shoes to look half way decent and professional

  14. Nice pickup for NBC getting Bob Costas back to do MLB pregame, he'll also do some stuff for the NBA on NBC & he'll likely have a role in L.A. 28 Olympics coverage. https://www.nbcsports.com/pressbox/press-releases/bob-costas-returns-to-nbc-sports-to-host-sunday-night-baseball-pregame-show

  15. I just saw the IG post from Entertainment Tonight about this. I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed because that's the only daytime talk show I actually watch. I wonder what the NBC O&Os will replace her with. 3pm news? Maybe there will be a replacement talk show, but I'd be kind of surprised. Weren't Michaela Pereira and Ken Jeong supposed to get talk shows? What happened to those?

  16. Not surprised that Kelly is ending her talk show I said it was going to end in May of 2026. I'll beat the horse does WWMT put news on at 4PM or will they try and get Tamron Hall for that timeslot or maybe J-Hud I don't know their contracts other than that Nexstar has both talk shows on CW-WMI in the mornings. Tamron Hall has never been cleared on any of the main channels always been on The CW TV stations when Sinclair had CW.

  17. WKMG (CBS Orlando) moved Drew Barrymore to 9 am for a new 3pm newscast. Entertainment Tonight and another show were previously on at 9 AM. News 6 at 3 follows a nontraditional format like their 9 PM show. Shaky cameras, anchors walking and talking with the camera from the all over newsroom. Field reporter packages look like they're shot on high-quality cell phones and draw inspiration from Instagram reels. The 3 PM show will again feature anchors Ginger Gadsden and Matt Austin who already anchor the news at 4, 6, 9 (online) and 11. Stretching one anchor team thin is the norm in Orlando as Martha & Greg anchor nearly every WFTV/WRDQ evening newscast. John and Luanne do most of WOFL's evening newscasts. Only WESH has a wide bench of anchors.
