  1. But...but....but....they said they wouldn't do this. They said they wanted to preserve voices.

  2. Say hello to a lot of .2's and .3's having networks as they move to more stable operations.

  3. I can't wait until they decide to pre-empt someone's show or raise the rates on a pay TV provider... This should be a warning to all of us when it happens to raise hell why this merger should have never happened in the first place. Maybe it will cost them a network or two. Then they get a better spot to put the CW on.

  4. They are moving quickly so that the merger can't be unwound. It's disgusting.

  5. Nexstar held its company-wide merger town hall today, streaming to employees of both old Nexstar and the now-former Tegna. The event was filmed on the WFAA set in DFW. Despite all-powerful Perry's best "efforts" to keep the meeting quiet, some topics are leaking out, including to a close source of mine. The merged company now employs about 18,000 people, of which half are journalists. He very bluntly said that jobs will be lost, and in very quick order, before... They will merge & consolidate multi-station markets' building operations within the next year or so. Everything under one roof. Joint leadership teams will be announced in the next several weeks. Email accounts and other digital communications are merging ASAP. Digital production/output is a high priority. Several minutes were spent praising and bragging about News Nation. Six stations (previously mentioned) will be sold over the next 2-3 years.

  6. Gene Shalit turned 100-years-young on Wednesday- and TODAY celebrated accordingly- by putting his face on a Smucker's jar. https://www.yahoo.com/news/videos/today-celebrates-gene-shalit-100-130818398.html

  7. That’s what Sinclair has done in Providence ABC after closing the newsroom and moving it to a sub channel of WJAR. An aside, when I was back in RI a month ago, the hotel finally had ABC programming on the ABC channel, rather than the repeats of whatever digipet is now on WLNE. That took a long time.

  8. Mostly based on the RSN graphics, but there are some new elements. The texturing and team logos on this version of the scorebug makes it look a lot nicer.

  9. WABC, In my humble opinion, from an on air presentation (graphics and set) standpoint, I think we can all agree that they are comfortably "the best" just recently. KABC was always the better one for years and even today I think the KABC set is probably still a bit nicer than WABC's by a touch (they have the extra space that WABC doesn't have). The news product itself which is what ultimately matters has always been one of the most top notch local news productions in this entire country. They've always been prestigious at which all other local stations try to model. Both KABC and WABC stations do a near excellent job with that. And now we are starting to see both stations work kinda together on some stories which is kinda cute. For WABC, in terms of the on air graphics and set, I think that was a long journey for them. At this point the only criticism I have now for WABC and now KABC is I wish they used more of their news music package. I'd imagine they have full access to the entire suite of music. At this point, its probably safe to say that WABC is the best overall O&O ABC station now and now we are seeing the rest of the Circle 7 ABC O&O stations model them (Logo and Graphics etc..) A bit of history with WABC; from an on-air graphics and presentation perspective, they were always far behind the rest of the O&Os until this past year really. KABC always had the edge over the years. I would always envy KABC because of how they just excelled over WABC. It wasn't till probably around 2012 with the Giant Octopus graphics that their on air appearance represented what a flagship station should be but it was short lived, they literally took two steps back with those terribly looking flat graphics in 2016 which pretty much sucked in my opinion they were really boring and just lazily designed. We had to deal with that disaster for 8 years and finally they got their new graphics in 2024 followed by their new beautiful set in 2025 which KABC now modeled and has a slight edge over.

  11. Does anyone besides me find it ironic that Nexstar went to the effort to spin off stations when it acquired Tribune, but is acquiring those stations again and won't be spinning them off again? To me that's essentially an indication that any stations they say that they will spin off is performative at best. In the legal sense, under the same essential leadership, Nexstar's current actions don't align with previous actions, indicating that they do intent to reduce the amount of journalistic voices. Also, the pretext that this will help them fend off big-tech is an indication that Nexstar doesn't, in fact, know how to use technology.

  12. Who's shocked? I'm not. This was the inevitable between KTUL and "KOKI" as to what Sinclair would do with both. https://www.linkedin.com/redir/redirect/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fthedesk.net%2F2026%2F03%2Fsinclair-tulsa-newsroom-consolidation-ktul-relaunch%2F&urlhash=Z-UC&mt=5kmzl9TJP18gwwdYRr_l7neJaLQSRRQe_OuMVlO9hahuGiJx2Uim65AfHQzQZKZWR-nb_5zhBwoRs1BUKmaj8cTGf2uUQOpLlHJGWLMSbXPGXcto72aegQ&isSdui=true

  13. Marcelle Fontenot has left KADN/KLAF. A longtime fixture of Acadiana television, she has left the station to be the Chief Communications Officer at the University of Louisiana at Lafyette. She and Jim Hummel spent 17 years together on TV, the majority of that time on KATC before their high-profile market switch to KADN/KLAF two years ago. Her replacement? Another longtime fixture of Acadiana television, Darla Montgomery, who only joined the station around a week ago after "retiring" from KLFY after 33 years nearly a year or two ago. https://louisiana.edu/news/ul-lafayette-names-veteran-broadcaster-marcelle-fontenot-chief-communications-officer#:~:text=Marcelle Fontenot%2C a veteran newscaster,University of Louisiana at Lafayette https://www.kadn.com/news/local/darla-montgomery-and-jim-hummel-celebrate-first-newscast-as-news-15-anchor-team/article_f98843fa-4503-4f8d-ad46-e0190f73c76a.html?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQPNDA5OTYyNjIzMDg1NjA5AAEe22wFeNRqHhXB5EPPCFLE74v2k1dKKBZGGT5iM0Y0HqbgM1BrDe695h3PyOU_aem_8ldJbmAUxxT6U9nAMrD4NA

  15. Brenda Blackmon paying tribute! Another legend I wish were still anchoring. Wish another station picked her up after she left PIX 11. Especially Fox 5.

  16. Here is the photo version of ABC 7’s new state of the art set, one of the LARGEST local news sets in the country to date. The last couple of photos was just taken at around 5:15pm this evening showcasing Marc Brown, Michelle Fisher, chief meteorologist Dallas Raines, and meteorologist Danny Romero behind him updating the traffic maps for the evening traffic reports. As already stated by myself and others, the studio is basically a near-replica of WABC but just suited for KABC’s needs and it feels like something that you expect from Southern California’s News Leader. The debate between KABC and KTLA on who has the higher quality studio in the LA market goes either way or both ways depending on what metrics you use.

  18. That looked like nothing was wrong with him. It just shows how in a sudden instant, things could change and could be taken away from us, just like that. Ugh.
